It's so weird hearing him admit that he lacked confidence in the beginning of his journey. You'd think that a guy who looks like that wouldn't have any problems with confidence. Though it''s easy to forget about the pressure and how much is expected of these guys
Well, let's be honest: Drew McIntyre in 2010 had a bland presence and had a forgettable moveset. Now, his presence and moveset as improved dramatically. I can see why WWE rehired the former Intercontinental Champion and Tag Champion (w/ Cody Rhodes).
I can see why your confidence would be shaken in context. He made his true debut to the main roster in 2009 and he was super young, being 24 at that time. When that debut occurred he got the Austin theory treatment with the entire chosen one thing with Vince being praised as a future world champion by the boss on TV. He had a long run of being undefeated and won the IC belt. Essentially when he first made a true debut he had all the support one could hope for to elevate to being a top star in the company and it didn’t happen. Then he got stuck into that 3MB thing which is essentially a position of doom and let go. So it would be somewhat natural to look back and see that you had about as good of a chance to become a big thing in the WWE, at a very young age, and you weren’t able to make it happen. I think it would be natural to wonder if you can be what you think or hope yourself to be with that happening. It’s one thing if you never got any real creative direction that had a chance to grow you to a high level star and how you would leave knowing that you never got a chance to be that guy. But if you did have that chance and failed it would definitely affect your confidence in your ability to do it. Fortunately he did do it and was able to return and be what he thought he could become like he did. Definitely a hard thing to do to begin with even more so when you’re let go like he was.
It would be different if you were a Cody for example. When he left because they didn’t see him at that level he was able to do so never having had a chance to be that guy. It’s one thing to get the chance and fail versus never getting the chance I think
Around the time Drew left WWE, I had lost interest in wrestling (again)...But then he made his Legendary return to ICW and delievered his War Speech, and that pulled me back in!!!!! His legendary promos in ICW and WCPW inspired me!
You should of asked him about his time in TNA nobody asked him that it would be interesting hearing his world title win there and how stuff was going at the time
@@Strangepete if you really think his gains were due to eating chicken and broccoli while working out (as if he didnt already work out) without any added help is what got him that body then you are being a little naive.

He was better when he was the skinny 'chosen one' heel. He actually had a character. Now hes just some big guy with a sword. Not much character there anymore.

Drew: Growing a beard

His latest back and forth with Kevin Owens was damn solid.
He lacked confidence because he wasn’t ready when he was 24 years old.
Drew stole a lot of hearts last night
That promo he cut on Raw sent chills down my spine
Yes that promo was fire! 🔥

I always thought drew was funny in 3mb but I’m glad he reinvented
Drew’s history & career with Cody’s history & career , take my money and book this match up !!!!
Its the beard, that is the key to the reinvention. All beard power, although carrying a sword to the ring helps too :)
He went from being a baby face to becoming a Celtic Monster.
I guess somebody didn't read/listen to McIntyre's book.
Hey Chris who was ur fav interview?
His run in ICW was not as good as his run in TNA. Glad he got released on 2014 because he wouldn’t be where he is today if he wasn’t released
I feel like “reinventing himself” is wrestler talk for “going on tren”
