I like all three they each have a different look I find adorable 💕
In my opinion, Mattel messed up the quality of these dolls. You can tell Pleasant Company cared so much about details. Mattel just cuts corners. They’ve messed up Barbie too. I always buy Pleasant Company for my historical dolls.
Pleasant Company was made in Germany vs now they are all made in China

I have the beforever Samantha. They are all so cute!
I bought Samantha around 1993 or 1994. She came with the hat, the pin on her dress, and outfit and I cannot remember what else. I loved that doll. Here I am now almost 40, and going to buy a Samantha again. I will be buying one from my childhood. Wish I still had mine though ✨
The quality of the material used on the 90s Pleasant Company Samantha is obviously superior. Even 20-30 years later her dress still looks great and holds its shape well. I also prefer the more rich and serious color palette of the original. I hate the way Mattel has gone for brightening up the color palette, thinking it will sell better. It just cheapens everything. I never had a Samantha growing up, I just had Kirsten, so I was considering buying a Samantha out of nostalgia but after watching this I'm so mad I can't lol. And to think they have also jacked up the price to 150. When I was a kid they were like 80-90 dollars.
Yes! I came here because I ordered the new doll and I was VERY surprised at her dress quality. I don’t immediately. I was like, I don’t remember my dress as a little girl being plastic
Yes it’s sad that everything seems cheaper now and they are charging so much for it. Mine was $100 back in 2003. The thing that justified the price was the quality of the product. These dolls and their clothes were made beautifully and to last. I also think they were more historically accurate.

Totally agree! Same! I'm so mad after watching this. You can instantly see that the quality in material used on the 90s Pleasant Company Samantha was superior. 20-30 years later her dress still looks beautiful and holds its shape. The 35th anniversary one looks cheap in comparison. I also hate the way they took away the rich and deep color palette that was more historically accurate for brighter colors they think will sell easier.
Yeah, I wouldn’t. It is such a rip off. I ordered the new doll for my niece, and my jaw legitimately dropped when I felt her dress. I was like I don’t not remember her dress feeling like plastic. After watching this video, I can confirm that they are very different and the newer one is significantly cheaper
I would like to see the neck stamps (always an important feature) and whether or not the doll’s hair is layered or a single long, curly length.
Love the PC Samantha. I found a beforever Samantha and a PC Samantha for my daughter at consignment stores. She loves both of them. I was struck by the detail in the PC Samantha's face. She just looks more distinct.

I got Samantha for Christmas in 2008. I’m glad to see her back in her old outfit. I’m not a fan of Be Forever Samantha.
I know! I feel like the look of the BeForever dress isn’t historically accurate. The lower waistline was popular for young girls at the time. But it sort of seems that in general the history aspect of American girl has become less important which is a shame because it really helped me understand American history through the eyes of a young girl growing up. That was kind of the whole point

Samantha (all her releases) is a absolutely wonderful doll; I have a Pleasant Company's one with her typical red and grey striped dress, red belt, black thights, gold pendant and purple hat, which I l💖ve madly: she is really sweet, charming, adorable, even due for the character (I feel a deep admiration for this girl). I like the modern release too, but the Pleasant Company's is really something special: I feel myself proud to have her.

Samantha is my very favorite American Girl. I have 5 of her including my childhood original and the BeForever one. I thought the new one would probably be too similar to BeForever to justify getting a 6th one, but I am weakening! I love Samantha so much!

Hey I'm a HUGE SAMANTHA collector and fan, but I don't know if this will help you with your Pleasant company Samantha, but I got my childhood Samantha in 2003 and she came with black meet tights from 1993 with an AG tag on her meet dress.

I prefer the PC Samantha doll, her face is full of sass compared to the other ones who kind of lack personality. I actually don’t own a Samantha even though i have her friend Nellie 😂 I want a white body Samantha with lighter hair. They have the aesthetic I like most. So that will take a bit of time to save up for.

Back in the 80’s pretty much all little girls had bowl-cut bangs. So it makes sense that the historical dolls and the first wave of girl of today dolls all have bangs.
Were the 35th anniversary dolls just sold in 2021 and then retired again?
I know this comment is nearly a year old, but sadly yes. Other than Molly, who's now returned, all the rest are retired or in Beforever form

The PC clothes would probably be a little loose on the 35th anniversary doll. PC dolls were chunky girls. It could work though🙂

@@BiggestAGFanEVER there wig is better more abundant hair Mattel there wig hair is not abundant and you can easily feel there wig cap and I love there eyelashes softer and there body more chubby that’s why I like them better
I agree with everything except the chubby bodies. My favorite body size was the dolls in the early 2000s so the early mattel days. The dolls now are so skinny it just seems off, and I feel like the PC dolls are a little boxy looking sometimes.
