That's quite the choir they have up in heaven. Hopefully we'll hear them again later on down the road. So thankful we got the chance to hear them down here. Feeling Blessed.
Mr. Danko was one of three majestic voices in one single group. The Band. God Bless Rik, Richard and Levon. Three of the best voices ever to sing on record, period. They definitely don't come around every day and time will tell. RIP song birds. Forever in our hearts and ears.
@@mikemonchuk7087 beautiful voice - I've always said my three favourite vocalists are Chris Whitley, Ronnie James Dio, And Rick Danko - all over the map - I know - but those are the ones that hit me in the heart the most directly. obviously love Richard and Levon!!!
I never know who I like more levon or ricks voice and don't get me wrong I love dylan but when the band does his songs they kinda blow him out a the water
I agree. I think of Dylan as more of a songwriter and poet than a singer. Oddly, his voice has sounded a lot better in his later years. Any way you look at it though, he is one of the most important musicians of the 20th century.
yakmack64 61561423 why compare? it`s not sport all the guys you guys are mentioned are like pearls on a string! sorry sounds more esoteric than i mean it.
This is nice but for me it doesn't even come close to the Dead's version. I have the album American Beauty and I play it a lot. I love Rick's voice, and there is no one who can even come close to his version of Long Black Veil. Sorry folks, hope I don't lose my membership in the "I really love Rick Danko a lot" club.
Heart attack....he was almost 57.He was on the road almost all his life and had gained weight in the 90's.Rick had dabbled in some drugs over the years but I think it was mostly just from living an unhealthy lifestyle :(
I am as fervent a fan of Danko/The Band as anyone on earth, but this is so bland, and so NOT a showcase for the unique voice of Rick Danko. The instrumentation way too dense and the backing vocals utterly annoying, especially the echoing of verse lines..."Perhaps (perhaps), They're better (they're better)...It sounds like he was a guest on The Lawrence Welk Show and this was the "folksy" arrangement they came up with for him. At least I can say this is the only turd I have experienced from one of my all-time favorite musical performers!
Rick had such a unique and special voice. Well done. He and Richard Manuel must be singing up a storm with Janis and everyone else. You are missed!
That's quite the choir they have up in heaven. Hopefully we'll hear them again later on down the road. So thankful we got the chance to hear them down here. Feeling Blessed.
Still one the best voices EVER in music.
RIP Mr. Danko

I agree about Dylan & The Band's versions of his songs.Ripple however was written by Robert Hunter and put to music by Jerry Garcia :)
Yes - - I had forgotten that.

yeah because dylan sucks and is 100% commercial bullshit and ego
what better?!? Danko + Dead = Heaven
Amen to that. I LOVE Jerr doing twilight. God I love both bands so much!!
Ooh, I’ve never heard Jerry’s version of Twilight! Would you have a date of performance?
Anyone know who else is on this recording? Sounds to me like John "Marmaduke" Dawson and Rusty Gauthier playing Avalon Slide Guitar in the beginning.

WTF WOULD SOMEONE SAY "sweet!" when someone dies
Why would anyone use that name. Harry I doubt you even have any...maybe on your chin like butters on South park. 🐖💨
Pt
Was rick real into drugs why did he die so young

He was into opiates to ease his back pain.
That's sad man . Pisses me off Robertson screwed these guys
yeash yeah and you believed that....the taste of heroine hihi
Robbie wrote the songs while the others were snorting and drinking. That's life.
