    This cover took me two weeks, starting from the arrangement transcription up to the recording, mixing, mastering and video editing.
    On UA-cam there is already a transcription made by June Lee, but unfortunately I cannot easily read music sheets; furthermore, that work isn't divided into single singing voices, thus rises the problem of extrapolating them from chords.
    Even as a personal challenge, I decided to write the transcription on my own: listening, trying to split voices in the most coherent possible way and then recording them with my keyboard (see below for download).
    I hope Jacob will see this work and perceive the inestimable admiration I feel for him!

    Here are the midi files: drive.google.com/open?id=0Bz_...
    Please note that the MIDI tracks have been recorded at 120 bpm. The click has been ignored since I've used the original track by Jacob as guideline.
    Here is the high quality version (wav, 96 kHz): drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz_b...

    I really love your take on the solo part, some of your choices I prefer over Jacob's.

    Pretty outstanding! I'm also currently insanely inspired by Jacob and getting back into recording some stuff at home. Your vid definitely amped up that inspiration even further. You did the arrangement great justice :) . Thanks for the experience.

    What microphone models are you using? Why different models?

    • @calmo.
      @calmo.  6 років тому +1

      hi! first of all thanks for the view;
      directional non condenser microphone tend to capture the direct source only , thus less noise or external sources are acquired in the recording, however the sound is generally less "rich"; thus i prefered to use the condenser mic only for the main voice, and the other mic on the other voices that were numerous.
      non condenser : shure beta 57a
      condenser: neumann tlm 193

  • @brandoninu7140
    @brandoninu7140 6 років тому +1

    excellent cover, only comment i have is to stack voices on each of the parts and pan them everywhere so that you might even have 4 or 5 voices singing each part which makes it sounded much more rich and full, there are some parts of the song where what you're singing is technically correct however doesn't quite sound like jacob or sounds a bit "thinned out"? otherwise this is an excellent cover well done

    • @calmo.
      @calmo.  6 років тому

      Brandon Inu you're absolutely right ! I know that this is one of the recording technics used by Jacob, but I didn't have enough time and space in the video for this !!! Thanks for the compliment :)

    Qué bueno!! Qué te pareció más difícil el oncillo? Las notas graves o agudas? Editar el vídeo? La voz principal? Te ha salido genial. Lo hiciste con la partirtura cierto? Cómo hiciste las notas graves?
