    8-ball with a shot clock is the most exciting game to watch, in my opinion. It really brings out the creativity and skill of these world class players. Don't get me wrong, I love rotation 9- and 10-ball games, but these guys make that look too easy sometimes. Plus, 8-ball is much more understood by the average player... it's the most popular game, the one you see casuals play at your local bar, and could definitely be the game that launches professional pool even higher.

    It's surprising there aren't more pro 8 ball tournaments because it requires more strategy, so many potential patterns. 9 & 10 ball is just hit the next numbered ball, no options other than defense.

      I agree and disagree with you. I think 8 ball is underrated as far as difficulty goes and deserves more purse money and recognition. However, I think 9 ball offers something else more interesting and that is the 9 combo to win it without having to go through the numbers.

    I've watched a lot of pool replays recently. The difference between the winners and losers at this level is usually a matter of a few inches of cue ball positioning. Just a few degrees of angle can be the difference between winning a losing. They are ALL great shot makers. When they miss a shot it's often from trying to get a bit more angle by aiming for one side of the pocket.

It's strange how you don't find much if any tactical play though, I guess they're just too good at running out. I don't think I've seen a single safety played in any of the games I've watched.

    • @eddieleeparto7553
      @eddieleeparto7553 Рік тому

      Regardless whether any balls are pocketed for the break shot; the table remains open (aka you can hit any ball you want without a foul being called), but you still need to call a specific ball in a specific pocket. Only after one player establishes stripes/solids; then your cue ball is obligated to contact your established "color" first whenever you're shooting. In other words: immediately after the break, the table is always open until one player establishes stripes or solids by pocketing a ball in the pocket they called.

    • @MrDicekey
      @MrDicekey Рік тому
