It is mesmerizing, seeing Soufi enjoying the game sooo much at this high level, and at the end giving his opponent a standing ovation. Syria, look at your man ❤
Absolutely he should be a icon in his country now!!
Well said! Three cheers for Mohammed! ❤
Great courage, great class and great marksmanship.
Soufi is the opposite of sour face Albin Ouschan
Respect to Soufi not only for the runner up position, but also for the way he conceded with such a great attitude!!
To be honest, I would rather have seen FSR pocket the 9 instead of the concession. Sure, it was a formality, but still a bit odd to concede there. (In a final, any other match it's OK.)
@z01t4n I would agree if it was Hill Hill, but it wasn't, so I like the way he conceded better.
THE VIETNAM GUY CONCED LAST SHOT TO CHINESE DUDE TOO. A WAY OF RESPECT. BUT IN A HIGH DOLLAR MATCH ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ESPECIALLY IF IT IS CLOSE RACE.
@@z01t4n I'm pretty sure he wasn't missing that one
If I was FSR, I would do one last trick shot on the 9 ala efren just to show off, wouldn't matter anyway if it didn't sink haha
I gained a lot of respect for Soufi. The man is a class act. He's got a great future ahead of him.
it's so cool to see someone display such joy for what they are doing. We need more competitors like these two.
Never seen this Mohammed Soufi before this tournament. What a fun player to watch. Also liked the class and ovation he showed at the end. Will be watching out for more of him in future tournaments. Also congrats fsr, you are on a tear!
It’s amazing how straight Soufi shoots. His grip and stroke is very different 👍
his grip and stroke reminds me of jeremy jones', the commentator of this match
Your sister has a similar grip and stroke 😮
@@leftymarcecere3076 Tool.
JJ made a very wise comment that his almost horizontal wrist and elbow most probably come from his snooker background when he was 6. Basically, that's how most of the kids shoot because the table is too high for them.
He said that he was influenced by Oliver ortmann when he was young
I really want to see Soufi in the future , great talent and entertaining player. 👍
conceding is one thing. but the way soufi conceded, he looked genuinely happy for his opponent. you can actually see a smile on his face while he did it. now that's a rare thing. he could be sulking in his corner or miserably conceding but he didn't. much respect to him - can't believe how well he played considering his fundamentals and quickness.
Yeah, Sufi is the opposite of Albin's sour face for example, when he's loosing.
Congratulations to FSR, but also to Mohammad Soufi! FSR might have won the championship, but Soufi won our hearts with great character. The way Soufi plays is exactly how a pool player should be like, fearless and a player who draws excitement to the game!
Great final. Can't wait to see Soufi at more events.
One of the most entertaining finals I've seen recently, what a character this Soufi, what a legend.
Agree. Too bad the jerk FSR Ruined the Entire event with total Unsportsmanlike Conduct. and Player Misconduct. Jumping on the table like an animal. We dont need this garbage in this respected sport. FSr should be Fined $$. And trophy and award monies withheld till fines are paid. Will start jumping for semi finals, quarter finals, etc. Just bad behavior. Zero Pool Etiquette.
I bet the editors loved Soufi cause he just goes no need for cuts and stuff
THERE WERE PLENTY OF CUT SHOTS BY SOUFI. ESPECIALLY LAST FEW RACKS. PLUS WHAT DOES EDITING HAVE TO DO WITH PLAYER CHOICE OF SHOTS? =NOTHING
@@PostUp_Time he means video cuts, not ball cut shots, lol
@@PostUp_Time why you mad?
Home envy.

Thank you Emily and Matchroom Pool for putting pool tournaments back on the world stage in a world class way. Finally!
Well said!
I am very happy that these tournaments allow the players to get paid, but I am skeptical about the fact that all pool tournaments are ending up as a Matchroom property and marketing seems to be the most important thing, even more important than the game itself. I read somewhere that she is proposing a golden buzzer shot or sth like that for pool and thank God her team and her superiors shut that shit down. The fact that she and the people who set up these tournaments dont play themselves, means to me that is just a business, which is run very well so far, but the game as a game is not something they really focus on. I think it's used more like a product they want to sell, which is of course a part of organizing tournaments, but it should never be the only goal in my opinion.
@@GLMusic12 I understand your skepticism. I would suggest you to watch any one of the interviews Emily has done and you will be very impressed with her passion and work ethic for making Matchroom Pool not only successful as a "business" but to make the players a lot more money than they have been and with the chance to have this thing get bigger than anybody dreamed of. Look what just happened recently, Shane Van Boeing on 60 Minutes and Fedor Gorse on Joe Rogan. The audience of those two shows in less than a month is in the millions. I believe this will be the next big boom in pool like what came from The Color of Money. Did you watch any of the World 9 Ball Championships that just finished yesterday hosted by Matchroom Pool with $60,000 to the winner? It was fantastic!. Don't be to worried about this being run like a business, every major sports team on earth is a business and it's seams to be working ok for them.
Love watching Soufi play, unreal
He made so many mistakes. Shocking he made it to finals playing that fast and wild and stupid
@@leftymarcecere3076 still better than your bullshit
Me too, enjoyed every single minute of watching his play 👍❤️
Soufi reminds me a little of Keith McCready. Side arm stroke, fast player, little wild in the decision making. He was great to watch, hope to see more of him.
Not everyone can understand conceding like that is a huge, huge sign of respect in the pool world. Hats off to Soufi, and great playing to FSR
it reminds me of chess, where pro players tend to resign if there's a unavoidable mate. It is also a sign of respect
Please keep Jeremy and Carl as your commentators for ever. They are the best team I have ever heard in pool commentary. And thank you Matchroom and Emily for bringing pool back to where it belongs with world class setting, world class players and world class production.
I truly mean this as a compliment as someone who was rooting for Soufi. He might have the loosest cue ball I’ve seen in a player who’s made it to a World Final. Shows how talented of a potter he is. Hope to see him continue to iron out the edges of his game and see him on the world stage again soon.
Thank you Matchroom Pool for showing these highlight matches
soufi is just the most entertainly player to watch, the way he plays its just so fast and energetic, and that kind of thing will make the audienc not bored
Ref wasn't bored that's for sure lmao . Every time she would get to stand still, she had to walk to the other side of the table. Gave her a workout
Agree
Hope he joins all major tournaments from now on, just need to lessen his errors and he’ll be the face of pool world in the future.
Every Albin match I fall asleep ...when he has a straight in short , he takes a time out and goes home to study how to shot it!!! Lol it's like watching paint dry!!! Bring on the 15 second shot clocks and this game would be fun!!!
@@jaynosowsky9708 Earl couldnt have been more right back in the days against Archer. Then Souquet came over and slowed it all down to a whole new level of slow and since then its the norm.
Incredible Game!! Well Done Both Champs. What captured my heart for this game was Soufi’s playing and the sheer joy he has towards this game and his opponents. Well Done Guys!!
From Egypt, Syria in our heart
What an amazing show of sportsmanship at the end! I wish all sports were like this match. World class competitors. 👍
FSR has been on fire and I hope he has a great season ahead with this years events. Big shoutout to Soufi, class act and great attitude. He was just enjoying every minute of the finals and shot really great through the tourney.
Good Game Soufi,,,, Great Achievement… Congratulations 🔥
I love it how we all just became instant Soufi fans. The guy is an absolute joy to watch, he really got into my "favourite players" list. And a quick shooter too, Strickland would be proud.
Soufi will be champion one day!!! Great player!!! Congrats FSR well done!
Soufi Came Close. Agreed, once he has more experience playing in finals like FSR does, look out. Even today was very respectable 13-10. By no means is that a blowout. And he beat great players to make the Finals!
If FSR keeps playing this well and continues to win as much as he has recently, he may very well be considered one of the greatest to play the game in 10-15 years time. Unbelievably great talent for someone so young.
Also hats off the Soufi! He played with a lot of heart and really enjoyed being there. It’s nice to see someone smile and enjoy playing the game unlike most others who have a look of disgust on their face the whole time.
You should have won. But he's won the hearts of all of us!
Congrats, mohammad soufi.. you mental fighter.
Amazing
Congrats to both. What a pleasure to watch!
Congratulations Soufi .. Respect from Syria 🇸🇾
Soufi, i like the confidence
Keep up the good work 💪
For me Soufi was the star of the match and the tournament. A very likeable, class guy and a fun player to watch. Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of him.
congrats to Soufi, he's become my favorite in this tournament with his style of play
Francisco deserves it! SOUFI is incredible and a great sportsman!
what a performance by this 2 players, we gotta watch out for soufi now, he is in great form
*AGREE GAME WAS GREAT. TOO BAD THE AHOLE HAD TO RUIN THE EVENT BY JUMPING ON THE TABLE, WALKING AROUND LIKE A DAMN ANIMAL. TOTAL MISCONDUCT. PURE UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT. THE JERK SHOULD BE FINED. AWARDS WITHHELD TILL FINE PAID. THIS ISNT A MEXICAN DANCE PARTY*
One and done
@@leftymarcecere3076 BS he's not even 30 yet still not in his prime
Soufi has definitely become one of my favs to watch. He looks like he’s just having fun at the bar with some buddies in a world championship match
Very proud of this great performance from Soufi 🇸🇾
Kudos to Soufi for his sportsmanship
looking to see more of Soufi's game in the world stage. great player and a show of sportsmanship. congrats to FSR for winning the tournament
Amazing Soufi 👍👍 He will be a great player and champion!FSR deserves it, he made a great tournament and season !!
hat off for Soufi.. such a nice guy, that standing ovation last to the end of the video.
Only 60K for winning the world 9-ball title? It's sad how little money there is in professional pool… Congrats to FSR, great win and Soufi with great class and a great challenge
I've thought that for years!! Look at how much other sports pay their Champions, like Tennis or Golf!! Especially at a Major event like a US OPEN. Got to give credit to Matchroom though, they are trying to get more big money involved, it just takes time! Having really good events like this one with world class competition and sportsmanship shows the world that Pool is ready to move up the ladder in recognition.
Let's make pool great again.
Mohammad is really amazing. He loves the game. Great tournament 👍. Gratulations to FSR. Amazing tournament.
FSR and Soufi are both pretty likeable, I'll be rooting for both in the future!
I watched this tournament on DAZN. Last year I criticized Matchroom Pool for under par commentary and interruptions during play. There were too many "amateur hour" moments. Not so with this production. The 2023 World Pool Championship was far more polished. The high level of production, the lighting, the commentary, and referees all did a superlative job. For decades pool commentary lagged behind the excellence we hear for both golf and tennis. No more. The commentary by Jeremy Jones and Karl Boyes was brilliant. They did not draw attention to themselves but enhanced the pool watching experience. They were both calm, probing, intelligent, and every word was focused on the players and the table. I argue that both Jeremy Jones and Shane Van Boening are the two most important people in American cue sports today. There were a couple of hiccups, however. One being was when the match between Shane Van Boening vs. Duong Quoc Hoang were tied on the hill at 10 -10, Matchroom cut to an interview with Mario He. I love Mario but, c'mon, hill-hill? Hopefully, hiccups such as this will be ironed out in the future. Pool has long deserved recognition but was always the forgotten step-child of sports. Matchroom Pool is changing this perception. Last but not least, congratulations to both Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and Mohammed Soufi. They had me in tears! I wish I could reach through this implacable screen and shower them with hugs and kisses. Their performances were as compelling and awesome as they are. ❤
Totally agree. This great game deserves better and Matchroom did a really good job this year. The one caveat I have is with Alex Leyly. I believe that is how it is spelled. The guy is far too pompous and arrogant in his commentary. He is very hard for me to listen to.
Rack 14 the commentators explaining how to pot the black then Soufi does the cross bank, that was magical.
Fabulous tournament accented with a load of fresh talent.
Been away from the game, have ya?
Soufi has all the skill and charisma to succeed. Unseeded to runner-up. Excellent weeks work.
I wish they make the finals race to 17 again or atleast race to 15.
RACE TO 13 TOOK 2 HOURS AND 45 MINUTES. NEARLY 3 HOURS.
@@PostUp_Time so?
*THIS TOURNAMENT HAD THE BEST CUE BALL JUMPING EVER SEEN. FROM A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT PLAYERS. BANKING, CUTTING, TINY 6 INCH JUMPS, ETC. WISH THEY WOULD DO HIGHLIGHTS OF JUMPING FROM THIS TOURNAMENT!*
Soufi has a new fan!
I've never been more disappointed in a network. Total foul by matchroom pool.
Agreed!
All my Respect to Soufi, a Great Player and a Gentleman!!
Soufi , q personalidad va a llegar muy lejos
Soufi earned a fan for life in me, this tournament
yeah, me too
Francisco Sanchez Ruiz Congratulations 👏🏆🇪🇦
Real smart..good timing!!
Its great to see Soufi playing his game. Barely goes for safety and attacks everything. It shows you dont have to do what everyone else is doing. Really enjoyable to watch.
It is really awesome to watch. However, he likely lost because he attacked everything. Margins at this level are too small to take shots when an easier defense is available.
Respect soufi.. you're the great man.. congrate to Sanches.. keep skyrocketing
Boy I've watched alot of world class pool and never seen or heard of this Soufi!!!absolutely love his game!!he has a fan in me I'll be rooting for you from now on Soufi!!!what composure, class, and pure potting ability...he one stokes shots John morra would've stroked 10 times!!
Congratulations FSR! What a great match! Amazing talent.
Tony Drago 2.0 bout to take the world of pool by storm. And I, for one, am all here for it!!!
What a great attitude..soufi👌🏻
Its great seeing classy moments like this.
MAN SOUFI IS EXCITING TO WATCH LOVE HIS STYLE HOPE TO SEE MORE OF HIM
素晴らしい試合でした✨✨✨‼️
ムハンマド選手は最後まで拍手をしていて感動しました✨✨✨‼️
Fsr… congrats bruv … but big ups to soufi as well , what a player , hope to see more of him in the upcoming tournaments
Congrats to Ruiz !!
Love the way Soufi conducts himself , he had a great time even in defeat !!! Great personality , I wish all professionals conducted there selves in the same manner !!
Excellent play and commentary!
21:00 Best position shot I ever seen.
Not a fan of how Soufi plays, too loose for my snooker upbringing.. But I instantly became a fan when he conceded with such class on that 9 ball and a smile on his face.. Great sportsmanship at the highest level, sponsors will be fighting over the guy
Was pulling for Soufi. Love the way he plays.
Love watching soufi shoot he is a man in his own world… with a lot of potential
Great final! Have to say, Soufi really did himself proud. I love his game. I like fast players and both of them are fast pool players. Awesome match
Ruiz won the tournament but soufi won our hearts😇
Wow, he is a very fast shooter. And he's also confident in the stroke.
Francisco Sanchez Ruiz displayed the performance in the tournament that consolidates why he is the World Number One coming into this World Championship and one of the most worthy World Champions based on what he has won most recently, including the World Cup of Pool, the US Open and the Mosconi Cup. His nickname not just El Ferrari but also the Rafael Nadal of World pool. For Mohammad Soufi, he is the third Arab or Muslim player in as many years to get to at least a Semi-Final, something nobody thought at all would be here, like Morocco and South Korea when they reached a FIFA World Cup Semis. Spain now has a world champion in soccer, a successful world tennis player and now, this.
اشعر بالفخر بسبب محمد الصوفي واحزن على وطني سورية 😢
Only one can win it all at the end. Congrats to Soufi and SFR
It's nice to see some guys play fast. Soufi might be a little too fast, but it is far more entertaining to see guys like Soufi than MANY of the other guys take 30 seconds on basic shots. The shot clock is needed in all tournaments and if the game of pool wants younger fans - the game needs to be sped up. Congrats to Ruiz, tremendous player.
im now a fan of Soufi next to Efren Reyes.
Congrats to FSR for the win. Congrats to Soufi's sportsmanship and appreciation at the end. As they say...He's good for the game of pool!
Soufi plays quite well. Good job!!!
This Soufi is Efren Reyes and Tony Drago combined. He’s my favorite from now on. So fun to watch.
Hes more like earl the pearl rather than Efren, Efren doesn't play as fast and never has done, soufi doesn't have the safety game that Efren has and Efren doesn't snap shots in like soufi does, Efren always rolls the balls in nicely especially when it comes to the 9 ball.
@@danadams8649 i think what he mean was like Efren for being humble and Drago for being quick....
@@danilohernandez5413 oh I get ya now
Since Strickland jump into the table in 2001, it has been a trend to jump into it when you win in WPC. 😄😄😄 Congrats Ruiz.
FSR won the championship🎉, Soufi won the hearts❤
Can somebody help me out? I'm not interested in the highlights. Where can I watch the entire match?
Soufi losed in the tournament, but he won in our hearts
Great final two players that play with confidence and speed!! If they make the shot clocks 15 seconds this game would be fun to watch!! I'd watch every match no matter who was playing!!! Love there wasn't soft breaks too!!!! Great idea!!!
Well, 15 seconds might be a bit too fast - but I totally get your point. There are far far far too many slow players today, and it hurts the game. Younger fans, especially, don't want to sit around and watch a guy or gal walk around the table for 45 seconds on fairly basic shots.
30 seconds is plenty short with only one extension and given the pressure and difficulty in some of these situations. There was a big miss in the semi-final due to the shot clock ticking down, we also saw Soufi running for his jump stick in the final and - small observation - the shot clock usually starts ticking before the opponent is even seated. Chances are an even shorter shot clock will negatively affect the quality of the play, albeit slightly. A radical reduction like to 15 seconds would affect the quality big time. And that's a bigger problem for less experienced players. Cinderella stories like Soufi become less likely and young, extremely talented players may bust out of tournaments due to inexperience in time management. It's counterproductive imo.
Soufi is a great example of good sportmanship
I like the way Soufi play, no doubt he's in the final match. I think this is not the last time we see him playing
Thank you Matchroom !
For the tournament and the stream.
FSR & Soufi = one of the most exciting finals I have seen!
Commentators were
Very good. Prefer Mark Wilson’s style & inputs over Karl but Karl is OK. JJ was excellent as normal.
(also JJ, I have noticed since Simonis added the word CLOTH. to the name as written on the cushions, I don’t hear you referring to the CLOTH as felt anymore. )THANK YOU!
Matchroom still needs to correct the 4 and 5
balls colors. BAD !BAD !
Spain has the best player in the world right now! Love the way FSR handles the pressure! Awesome tournament for Soufi as well!
Soufi is unreal he have a lot of talent !! Huge respect
Soufi is like some of the young Chinese snooker players - crazy accuracy, but cue ball a bit random.
Derby I think you need to invite Soufi in the US next year, dude is amazing
I was really routing for Soufi. I would love to have seen him win.
I would just like to say how beautiful the tables are, and the supreme choice of cloth. But possible color.
Was pulling for Soufi!
