The first time I listened to Pentatonix was 2012 when I discovered their cover of Carol of the Bells. I was really amazed how much people can do just with their voice and this cover is just another proof that you should never underrate it 💙
I think whats so creepy and dark and sad about this song is that it’s literally one of the most depressing songs ever written but the entire song is composed of major chords. Major chords are classically, known as the “positive chords.” It literally sounds like madness. That’s the genius of this song.
@cece8095 I much prefer the original version, every subsequent version has done a slow brooding rendition, they have turned Mad World into Sad world. Although the lyrics are very dark and sad. I find the faster tempo and driving beat of the original gives off the more unsettling and uneasy feeling. Which in indicative of the mental and social anguish that the lyrics talk about. The lyrics are about someone who is really struggling "When People Run In Circles its a very very mad world" "I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad, the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had" The original was haunting, unsettling, and truly "Mad" I feel like the slow tempo doesn't add to but actually subtracts from the song
OMG! Beautiful song sung amazingly! Pentatonix seem to be able to reach into your soul. They make every word meaningful, every word touches and moves you in ways so deep you didn’t know they were there!
The time I found pentatonix was in the radioactive song they did with Linsey sterling. I would say it hauntingly pretty, but with the violin 🎻 element in that song ohhh chills. Take care everyone and stay safe out there.
They actually give emotions to this song, something nobody has really ever done before with this song or cover before, very different emotional effect .
1:24 - 20:03 Just listen... Kids today have the same anxiety levels as a psychiatric patient in the 1950's. We need help and no one is helping. We need need love and no one is caring. We are dying here and no one is listening!!
Holy crap they sang the SHIT out of that song! I've always loved the original, and Gary Jules's cover is amazing.... but holy crap there's just something about their voices in this cover, it's incredible
