Great explanation needed that I'm researching buying an electric guitar. In switching pickups it makes sense to tend switch towards the neck pickup when playing high notes to avoid overly metallic sound and lean towards the bridge pickup when playing up the neck for more definition. And tone is just fine tuning. Makes sense

I get how the 'metal - wood analogy' can be a simple little reminder although obviously that's not really how it works physically.
The way I understand it is that the lower frequencies are picked up the most at the neck pick-up because the string is able to vibrate more freely there. The frequencies at the bridge are inevitably higher because the string has less room to vibrate so to say.

Hi. I really found your video very interesting. Would you please listn to Bert Weedon playing FBI, (on youtube). The last but one verse is played on the high strings, fets 12; 13 and 14, consisting of the notes, E; C and A. Now, when I play that verse on my accoustic guitar, it all sounds so frail! Bert playes electric guitar with a plectrum. How might he be achieving such a rich powerful quality? I'm not sure but I think the big chord which starts each phrase is an AMinor(?) Would you agree?

Could you make a video on how the different tone-knob positions work with different types of pedals ? Maybe even style-wise :) one video for Rock-defined sound and one other for Blues-sound. That would be awesome! Keep it up :) you earned yourself a new subscriber.
