I really wish these so called experts would be brutally honest in their opinions. Blue Origins New Glenn rocket is challenging SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket for heavy lift status. The Falcon 9 has over 400 launches with a near perfect record, and will have another 25 at least, before New Glenn become any type of threat. The Falcon 9 is at the end of development and will be taking back stage as Starship come on line to take over heavy lift launches. New Glenn is in no way any threat to SpaceX's Starship.
@@Supraboyes Starship is still in test mode, so it has no success/failure rate. They don't even have the final versions ready yet while they're still testing things.
New Glenn, from it's first launch, will be more capable than falcon 9. More fuel efficient, more payload to orbit, larger payload volume and designed to be partially reusable from the start with a possibility of full reusability down the iterative line.
BO will be saying this at the end of the year without reaching orbit while SpaceX gets ready to put a starship on the moon less than 3 years after their first launch failed to separate and tumbled out of control
A reuseable should be quite robust. Like a plane. Fill up the juice, fly, repeat. I know this is the first flight. Hopefully, they manage to "fix" whatever that is, and fly soon.
"If Musk becomes a national security issue ... " lol. How in any way could that be the case? The payloads which go onto the rocket have nothing to do with Musk, its about as logical as saying "I wont drive on this expressway because I dont like the current government". Musk is not going to secretly creep into the rocket shed and fiddle with your satellite.
Bezos still can't get it up. 25 years in the making, to get to this point with a prima donna potentially leaky hydrolox upper stage. 10 plus years behind SpaceX. SpaceX cadence 134 launches per year. Proven tech with some SpaceX boosters with 20 plus launches and landings under their belt. Even if the first BO launch and landing goes as planned, there will be unknown unseen unrecognised problems that will cause failures in future. That is why sometimes failures and subsequent investigations uncover previously unknown weaknesses. When everything seems to go right, there are rarely such checks.
@@Supraboyes clearly he referenced the Falcon rocket, wich in fact has reached orbit hundres of times, and reaching orbit isnt the goal of starship tests, not yet at least, they havent even try that

lack of resolution and courage. since this is not a manned mission, there is no reason to abort the launch. no rocket is expected to succeed in its first flight. even if it failed, the data collected will still be very useful. with this delay, the entire development plan is affected.
NASA's also had space shuttles and a space station, what's the point? This is a private company trying a new reusable rocket, something only SpaceX has accomplished at this scale.
@varietyegg yes. But what people don't realize is that there is a huge difference between modern rockets and older rockets like the Saturn V moon rocket. The Saturn V was made with non-standard tolerances, and each rocket was a one-off made by technicians. Today's rockets have very precise tolerances and can be mass produced for consistent results. Even if we wanted to recreate the Saturn V today, we can't because all the technicians who made them and who know the hand crafted techniques of making them are dead. The engineering on these modern rockets are so accurate that any well trained technician can maintain them.
I was on the beach watching. The most frustrating thing is the total lack of communication from BO. Much like the Boeing launch of Starlliner. Certainly, best not to launch until ready, but how many years does it take to ge ready? Why would any company make a contract for services when the provider has not demonstrated the ability to perform and there is a competent and experienced company who probably charges much less for the same service?
Another delay! Who would've thought? Just launch the damned thing! If it fails, try again, like SpaceX. With this philosophy of "everything has to go right the first time", they have put themselves in a difficult position, never making progress beyond the first step!
If this works it will be the end of Arianespace. Two VTVL launchers with technology unavailable to Europe, engaged in a price war, powered by tow of the richest men on the planet.
Musk a "national security issue"? Methinks the "professor" needs to stick to her knitting and leave the rocketeering to those focused on performance and economics.
