Western 49. Hands down one of the best Bowie knives ever made. I have two now and I won’t take anything for them my oldest one was a vetinam carry for a chopper pilot. 1970-1972.
I'd be proud to own any of these. I'm a PUMA guy but I like their SGB Bowie as it's very versatile practical. The knives you own are museum quality. If you ever decide to donate your least favorite to a Poor boy like me, let me know and I'll be happier than a fox in a henhouse... thanks for taking the time to make and share this video of your world class collection.
Excellent blades...and nice looking blades! I like them. Thanks for sharing your top 10. I really admire the Cowboy knife! I'll take a closer look at this one! From Alabama, US, warm regards and best wishes from your friends in the American south!
I have the l36 and l66, North American hunting club special edition I believe it’s run was 2000. Knives, I believe mine is like 1236 of 2000, awesome wild life scene etched into the blade. Nice file work on the spine. Then I have another western 49’ with D date code. Awesome blades and as always they shine like a new car. Awesome again jake
Hey jake I just posted a couple of small videos to test and see if I was doing it right. Thank you for all you do for the knife guys out there. You inspire us all
very original video; great collection of blades. My favorite was #3 because this one was a real Bowie knife and the spanish notche makes it even more beautiful. Is the clip point sharpen on the back? Thanks for the music 👍
Hi Hans, "Old Whisky's" Broomhead&Thomas knife is the #3. Its false edge isn't sharp. This is a pefekt replika of a sheffield 19. century bowie knife. Best regards Jake
Those are all beautiful knives, :-) I was recently able to buy my first custom Bowie at a gun and knife show, a 15 inch 22 Grandmaw (That's the actual name on the certificate) made in March 1993 by L & B Knives in Colorado Springs with a thick 1095 blade and an elk handle with solid brass fittings that is thick and dense and the overall weight of the knife is nearly two pounds and it's hand stamped. I was able to get it for something of a bargain $150 because it had never been sharpened after it was forged and it was completely rounded off and edgeless on the blade and a sheath had never been made for it. It now has a sharp edge thanks to a local knife shop, but I still have to get a sheath made for it. If it had been completed with a sharp blade and a sheath back in 1993 when I bought it recently; I think it probably would have gone for at least a few hundred dollars. I'm no expert but the maker really put a lot of love into this knife when he made it and I'm really proud to own it.
@@brandtbollers3183 The Frontier Bowie, is a great big knife and I like it a lot. Haven't had the chance to use it yet. No Bears or any other large varmints to fight. I have sharpened it to a really nice 24 degree edge. So its nice and sharp. Might redo the sheath, although its nice, it's a bit big and bulky.l Have a good one and stay sharp.
@@jakeivdbach4665 You are right... Wow its a long time ago i seen this video..very beautyful knives and beautiful made video... I love Bowie knives so much... Take care.

Different region the term has different definition as they amended from 1830's to 1960's.lol... William Hanson youtube channel has what your considering. Just watched him showing huge collection of the actual rarest from Bowie to California Gold rush..In 1940's around the globe, especially Germany they amended for their region and needs, just as James Bowie did for his region. Many beautiful examples here, especially the customs.

Hi Jesse! I have to disagree. People generally think that Bowie knives should have a clip point blade. But many experts are of a different opinion. It's not even certain which shape of knife James "Jim" Bowie used. It could just as well have had Spear Point, Trailing Point or even a straight back. Greetings Jake

You need to add one more. The Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie. It dwarfs my Western W49.

That one with original Bowie knife stamped on the blade has a trailing point and is disqualified as a bowie
