HI Paul, The second time of watching this video, and so good to learn these moves for diminished chords. So much appreciated that you have done so. Truly! So, may i be permitted to make a helpful suggestion.? The video leaves me breathless, as breathless as you are making it. Please may i suggest you slow down, 'less is more'. As a healer, I meditate, visualise, relax and breath........ Here is a breath technique that both energises and. relaxes all in one. Breath down into your diaphragm - lower dan tien, expand your lower abdomen laterally (not pushing out in front), then take that same breath to your upper tummy - middle dan tien, then into your chest - upper dan tien, then finally into your head. ( obviously one doesn't breath in the head physically, but the process works all the better for taking it there). This all in one gentle yet deep process.. Repeat this several times during the day, until it becomes part of you. Then before making your excellent videos, go through that breathing process, then switch on and start. No need to rush, as we will all get it much quicker by you slowing down and being more relaxed. I appreciate this is unsolicited advice, and so apologise if it offends you. Yet, offered in friendship, love and care, to anyone playing and sharing this beautiful instrument. I am keeping my toes crossed, this wears well with you, and long to learn more from you.🙂☺🧡
Hi Paul, Thanks for this again. I'm almost a year into this now. I'm doing well with harmonized scales in a few positions, but I keep getting stuck on the dims. This is a huge help. Thanks again!
Great stuff! I got a little confused at the 3 minute mark when you mentioned 8th fret, pedals down (an F) and then using F diminished in passing. I think you meant to say 7th fret, pedals down which would be an E as the starting chord. This was easy enough to figure out when I tried the changes. I'm just pointing it out in case anyone else gets confused.
Also there's a 4 fret rule for augmented. Diminished chords invert every minor 3rd or 3 frets and augmented chords invert/repeat every major 3rd or 4 frets
for anybody out there with a Franklin (0) pedal- all the diminished tricks work with 0 and 1 pedals (franklin and A) down, and going down two frets from no pedals position! (sorry if someone mentioned this in another comment)
Thanks for these great and helpful videos! To answer a question in this one, in the key of E major it’s better to call that note an A# than Bb, since E major is a sharp key (the key signature has four sharps).
That is gold. So that could substitute as a seventh chord? Would it matter if going from the 1 to 4 chord the bass player didnt go up a semi tone? More of these ideas.. 😊
I have black automotive heat shrink on my picks to keep them from moving around so much. The picks are Sammy Shelor stainless steel, mostly sold to banjo player.
Very sensible, informative videos that your students should appreciate.Thanx Paul,a great job. Dave Herbst.
Great Inspiration for me. Thanks a Lot. Would Love to see more of that Kind.
Greetings from Germany
This is a wealth of information Thanks so much
This is an excellent primer on diminished passing chords and what makes pedal steel so special. Thank you. You’re an excellent player.
Awesome! I feel like a door has been opened! Thankyou. It's the in between stuff I struggle with.
Paul, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. Super important information.
Thank you for expanding my vocabulary. An advanced lesson but wonderful. Thank you sir

It's on my list of videos to make, but it doesn't seem as useful to me as the diminished.
Great lesson!
Impressive. Thank you

Really helpfull , maybe slow down /calm down a touch and ease off on that delay!! But thank you!
Paul are your picks black

not technically a diminished, but it works well
Would you care to explain?
Okay; technically it's a diminished seventh. But the distinction in terminology is apparently often overlooked, so I'm only partially wrong.
i'll buy partially wrong !!!
