Great job, on the grafts. When did you do these? I ask because I have a couple of scions in my fridge that I need to graft onto seedlings I have ready. I'm a little concerned that maybe I've left it too late in the season.
The successful ones were done mid April, we had warm weather but the reason I did em so early was because the scions were stuck in the mail for over a week. May is usually when you graft pawpaw for my climate, or so they say as these were my first experience lol. This re-graft was done on Saturday, the temp this week will be mild in the 80s (27c) and dropping back to 70s (22c). So it's not too hot and I think with the pruning I've redirected the growth to where the scions are
I think we should still be fine to graft them here. I grafted some just over 2 weeks ago and I still have a couple of pieces left that I plan to graft onto the remaining seedlings I have left. Although I wanted to wait until I saw signs of growth from the earlier ones I did so I could regraft any that failed.
@@PeterEntwistle Thanks, Peter. I'll do it this afternoon. I think I've been procrastinating, possibly through nervousness about grafting Pawpaw for the first time.
@@MoebiusUK I found them to take very readily last year. All 10 that I grafted took. Although I think I might have messed up a couple of them this year, likely due to my blunt grafting knife that hasn't been sharpened since I got it last year 😬
@@MoebiusUK I just went to have a look at the 4 new varieties I did this year and I think I can see buds starting to push through the parafilm, so hopefully they have all taken 🤞
Great job with the grafting! I did a few pawpaw grafts a couple of weeks ago, still waiting to see if they have taken 🤞
🤞thanks, I really wanted this variety based on the description so I hope it takes but also the fruit isn't just hype 🤣
