Even when I visited this mall back in the late '70's it struck me as being dying/dead; there were a lot of vacant store fronts, of the stores there most were closed when I visited. I never went back.
Rolling Acres Mall, also formerly in Ohio, was another Mammoth that suffered a similar fate. I think it got trashed even more so than Randall Park during the years it stood abandoned.
@deniserossiter1059 That mall looked like it was extremely nice in its glory days, I'm sure you do have great memories going there! Seems like now when a mall or big box store goes under, an Amazon warehouse is surely to pop up ! There's a former K Mart just down the street from me that closed in 2018, and it was completed renovated into an Amazon distribution center. It's been completed for well over a year now, but it isn't operating yet for some reason
@@deniserossiter1059it wasn't like that until RTA added a bus route from Cleveland. It was beautiful, my dad was part of building that place. I was in there before it opened as a little kid it was really cool. Once RTA added the bus line the black gangs came in and beat the sht outta white people and word traveled fast we quit going. That was the decline of Randall Mall, I lived real close growing up. Sad.
I had a lot of memories of Randall Park Mall. They used to take me this amusement park called Jeepers at Randall mall when I was a kid. 😂 And we used to go shopping there.
Pretty funny that all these mall sites are turning into Amazon fulfillment centers. I used to hang out at Metcalf South in Overland Park and it slowly died out-got pretty creepy in the mid 2000s. Now it’s mostly a Lowe’s. The Sears hung on for a long time there.
I remember going there with my mom around 2006 (I would have been in 7th or 8th grade) and thinking the place was really empty. I remember being really disappointed that there wasn't even a GameStop in it at that time. Luckily Great Northern Mall is making a comeback, so we still have a few decent malls in NEOH.
This Mall has been dead for at least 20 years, maybe longer. Last I heard the land has been repurposed by the "Amazon" empire as a regional processing center.
They don't meet and date anymore. Gen-Z is suffering an epidemic loneliness because there are no malls for them to hang out at. They think their instagram and tik-tok followers are real friends.
Much more than the rise of E-commerce, especially Amazon, that's killed off this particular mall. Look at the DEMOGRAPHICS of North Randall, OH, and surrounding communities. Over 75% black. 'Nuff said.
I live in Louisiana and I've watched a lot of videos about malls and a lot of times it's because when a mall was built it was in a good area that had tons of other jobs in that area and lots of neighborhoods with middle class families but malls start dying when everything starts moving out of the area the mall is in
I lived it. Randall Mall turned to sht when RTA added a bus line from Cleveland. The black gangs came in and were randomly beating up white people that's really what happened to that place.
Thank you for covering my childhood mall. Native Clevelander here ❤
fun fact. this mall had an extremely high auto theft problem. Years later I heard about who was stealing all the cars.
This kid out here cornering all of my UA-cam interests

I grew up going to Rolling Acres. It was “our” mall as teenagers. Broke my heart it went down hill. Its a huge Amazon distribution center now.

As an Akron Resident(We had Rolling Acres) we called it "Randall 'Stab me in the Park' Mall...."
If you wanted your car stolen that’s where you went. Lol. I’m from Akron.

as fellow Akron area resident, be honest, that's not what you called it. We all know what it was called, we all called it the same thing.
@@navyreviewerI came to say you mean rolling afros mall?
@@NickB-pr4uh he's talking about Randall.

Randal Park Mall when first built was one of the largest malls in America and became one of the largest dead mall.

Sounds exactly like Midway Mall.
Now it’s a amazon warehouse
Fun fact: Randall Park opened exactly 1 week after Albany Mall in Albany, GA, my hometown mall.
Ironically I heard of at least one mall that was replaced by an Amazon fulfillment center!😅
Great job as usual, Depressed Ginger-please do more dead mall videos.
I go by where this was all the time.
It closed because it is in the middle of the ghetto.

Very similar to Century III Mall.
Can we get darts content?
