I made the mistake of watching this in the morning and now I'm soooo hungry! We have just filmed a similar one and it's so good as you get to re-eat all the best foods haha I couldn't do mine in order though as I honestly couldn't pick a favourite haha
Been watching your husband for 2 years, only learned this channel today! Wow you guys are real connoisseurs. After no.2, I did guessed your No.1 right.
I've subbed and now I'm binge-watching your videos 🤣 I'd have to add "Hong Shao Rou" and "Jiaozi". My favorite part of Beijing duck is the crispy skin with sugar😋
You remind me of a Dutch friend of mine. Her name is Mieke. She married an American Southerner, when she gets angry or frustrated a southern English tongue along with Dutch comes out. We just quack up. Please try my favorite dessert in China. Ba Bao Fan, or 8 treasures rice. If you enjoy red bean paste, this is a must.
Yvonne, it is a no brainer that Peking Duck comes in at number one. It would easily be anyone who is a human being as the number one dish. So succulent and also a variety of sauces with hoisin, chili to topped it up. Wow, love your list and you must also give Malaysian food a try as we have a mixture of three cultures there, from Hainanese chicken rice, to fried kway teow and roti canai to nasi kerabu. Stay safe and masked up.
I like watching your video very much. Your 6th favorite food is Jiangbing Guozi (煎饼果子) which is from TianJin(天津). It is different from Jianbing (山东煎饼).
I can only imagine how tasty Peking duck is. I've never had the real thing, but I bought this frozen peking duck kit in a box that came with 2 duck legs, the wrappers and sauce, and the sauce, and I put some cucumber and spring onion in it. Not close to the real deal, I can imagine. but it was amazing even that!
I liked the stew made of eggplants and tomatoes we ate in Jinxi, Jiangxi provincie and the Kung Pao Chicken in Chengdu. The chinese baked noodles ofcourse and the fried chicken with lemonsauce we ate in Nanchang. I want to go back. My most favourite country❤️
Only discovered your channel today and really enjoyed watching the salivating savoury dishes. I personally prefer Cantonese roast duck to Beijing roast duck in that the flavour of the latter is heavily dominated by the Hoi Sin (seafood) sauce and the pancake which means the duck meat is somehow subordinate to the sides, and in most cases, you can only eat the skins of the duck and the rest of the meat would be taken away by the waiter; whereas the flavour of the former fills with the entire duck meat and you can enjoy the whole duck, not just the skin 😋anyway this is personal preference of course. Thanks for the lovely video ❤️❤️🙏🙏
What I enjoy: the simple ones, yangrou paomo (羊肉泡馍), shaobing (烧饼), zongzi (粽子), moon cake (月饼); and some rare ones, like 乳鸽汤, 甲鱼汤; and 泡菜类, zhacai(榨菜), kimchi(东北泡菜), paojiao(泡椒); and various kinds of tofu.
A kind reminder, please kindly remember, Hotpot is from Chongqing, not Chengdu, which is the most original and authentic. My favourate in your list is hotpot. 😄😄
I just happened to watch your videos. Although I haven't watched all of them, I like what you've shared with us.Jianbing (pancakes) is my favorite food. BTW, I come from Beijing and completed my postgraduate study in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
About Jianbing, I think in the video you showed is the type from Tianjin but not Shandong. As a local Beijinger, I find Nanjing roast duck is very delicious too, definitely worth to try it.
I never got to try the jianbing when I was in Shandong province but I will next time as it looks really good....never tried Peking duck so I have to say my favorite is Jaozi, or dumplings. I must have tried 8 different kinds of it and all VERY good.....I was the 1,000 like!!! :o)
I'm not really into Chinese food, I've never tried most of the food you mentioned in your list (mainly because I don't eat any spicy food and I don't like cilantro and ginger taste) and when I'm forced to have some lunch/dinner with colleagues I end up eating just some fried rice 😅
I live in Europe, you made me cry. I am dying for those Chinese food. Please also try
To me, the best food is dumplings. My mom used to make every week. But I just found out a few years ago that I have celiac disease. Can't eat any wheat food any more. Now I am looking for all recipes to make dumplings without wheat. Haven't eaten dumplings for years. Now I like the Chinese food Red Braised Pork Belly, or Pork Belly Adobo.
Clay pot sounds interesting. Not sure if I've ever had it. Maybe in Chengdu; I had a rice dish there that came in a pot. It had bacon and sugar at the bottom of the pot. It was pretty tasty.
@@GoYvon I'm copying this straight from the Wikipedia page: "Claypot rice (Chinese: 煲仔飯; pinyin: bāo zǐ fàn), sometimes translated as rice casserole, is a traditional dinner dish in Southern China and Southeast Asia, mainly Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. The rice is presoaked, or in some cases par-cooked, and finished in the claypot with other ingredients which then flavor the rice. The rice develops a crust similar to that in Korean dolsot bibimbap or Spanish paella.[1] It is commonly served with chicken, Chinese sausage and vegetables in some regions, but most restaurants offer a customizable dish with many protein options." The crust that forms on the bottom is so crunchy and amazing. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claypot_rice
Great video. China is very big and based on your list you probably stayed mostly in the northern provinces? I suggest you go to a few Huaiyang restaurants and try a few dishes there. In Beijing those are usually more expensive restaurants, but they have dishes that are really exquisite. Not many foreigners know about them, though (unless you're a government official attending a state dinner).
My favorites: 1. Suan Cai Yu (Chengdu) 2. Pangxie with vinegar (Zhoushan Island) 3. Beijing duck 4. Xiaolongxia 13 flavors sauce 5. Niuroumian Are the best airport food in the world 6. Sijidou best vegetarian dish 8. Xinjiang lamb bbq And lamian 9. Fujian sweet and sour shrimps 10. Jiaozi with vinegar and soy sauce for brekkie
Question for you: how do you rank dutch raw herring among your top 10 Chinese food? I watched you enjoying the fish. 😋 Not sure by the look on your husband's face if he ever get used to it. 😝
You CANNOT put all dim sum in one! Dim sum deserves a top 10 all by itself. My 2 favourite dim sum dishes : chicken feet and pearl chicken (literal translation of Chinese name) which is sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf along with sausage, salted egg yolk, minced pork (i don't think there's chicken in it?)
You know what the hot pot is most popular in the summer for me and for guys, I miss the feeling we have hot pot during very hot summer with the AC on and the bears and topless when no girls in our cabin
Thank you for this video. I'm not sure if you mentioned any rice dishes. Have you any favourite rice dishes or does it just come boiled or fried in Beijing? We get the western style of chinese cuisine here in England except in Chinatown in Soho where the restaurants catering for the local Cinese population serve up what seems to be just about anything. I've even chewed on a plate of chicken claws on one visit. Those dumplings you were eating looked tasty..what's the best filling you've tried?
after a year, I got so sick of Chinese food. Id go to a restaurant and ask them to just cook chicken with nothing but garlic and salt. Still most restaurants refuse to give in to the request. My Favorite Chinese Food is from Anhui, Shaanxi, Guanxi, Guandong, and Xinjiang.

Nico, go tell Yvon how 's the Nanjing salt water stewed ducks.
hahahahahhhahahahahahhaahhahaah

I think my favorite would be the Hot Pot. Looking forward to that next video. 🍺🍺🍹❤🇺🇸
Hot pot is so good! The new video is up now :)

Great list here! Would definitely add dishes like 地三鲜,牛肉拉面 and 辣子鸡 as some other great dishes.
牛肉拉面 is part of the noodles, haha. The laziji looks way too spicy for me. Also love a good 地三鲜!
