Keith said he wrote the album with vocals in mind, and even stripped of them, the songs stand on their own solidly. Equally interesting to me personally, but I definitely enjoy being able to fully appreciate all the tone, crunchy goodness, and chord progressions in the guitars.
Honestly this is probably the best instrumental version of a metal album I've ever heard - if you hadn't heard the original already you'd never know it was meant to have vocals, but the version with vocals is also just as good. Dunno if I've ever heard an example of an album that stands on its own equally with or without vocals; phenomenal work!
I do think that these songs sound more complete with vocals but I loved hearing this. Dissonance in metal is very popular but almost no metal musicians use it in an interesting context like Keith does here. Dissonance used in a more melodic sense is always more interesting to me. It’s why I love musicians like thelonius monk and jazz in general. The use of dissonance is so under utilized in popular music. Keith should teach courses on how he composes passages with so much dissonance and how he makes it interesting. How not to just use it percussively minded like lots of metal does. It really adds a thick atmosphere to your music when you use dissonance in a more melodic context. It’s one of the intangibles that makes really great metal standout from the crowd. Great metal at least great metal to me is rooted in dissonance. When you start using dark dissonant passages it really shows a lot of creativity in your composing. Its outside the lines coloring in the best way possible.
Gravitational... I love the switch between old Opeth (cleans), super heavy dose of black metal and the crossover into Arch Enemy inspired melodeath before going back into black metal again. This is the sort of album that i start listening to and time just completely flies by. 25mins just vanishes.
Mumbles!!!!!!!! Unpopular opinion but not only is this my favorite Merrow song but I think it has the most emotion. I do have “demo-itis” and prefer the drumming on the demo over Krimhs but I know that’ll go away once I put it on repeat
You are a brute. I'm so glad I saw Conquering Dystopia when you guys came to Jacksonville with Animals as Leaders and Chon. Still one of my favorite shows. Keep it up man, you're a true inspiration 🤘
It really speaks to the songwriting that these songs can stand on their own equally with or without vocals. That is extraordinarily difficult to achieve
Hey Keith. Idk if you remember me but I just wanted to say my friends and I are super impressed with your work. It's awesome to see someone from my hometown doing all that your doing. Everything you showed me, the Deftones, crowbar, have helped shape the sound of the music I play today. I just wanted you to know that you are a huge influence for me and I'm way proud of you bro
Don’t know how you managed to top the doom and gloom of my favorite album Reading the Bones but you somehow did. Can definitely feel some dark shit from this stuff.
Oh Hell Yeah!! I bought a 7 String because your Music Inspired me so much. "Just wish I could play it as well as you". Thanks for putting this out! Your Riffs are Amazing! 🖤🖤
I've seen more views on cooking videos and heard more pleasant sounds out of my dog's farts but I like it. Especially the snare drum. The guitarist sounds like he's confused and possibly on Fentanyl. The bassist and vocalist must have went on vacation because I can't hear them no matter how loud I turn the volume. All in all it is a solid effort. Especially if you prefer solid turds. I'd give this effort a -36 out of 10. Just kidding Keith! 😅 Good job!

I no longer have to watch the KM-7 MK-III Hybrid video to hear Mumbles? Sweet!
reading the bones saved my life so that i could listen to this album
Thanks Keith!

One of best metal sound and composition ever done.
Guitar sound is something stomach melting .
Thank you for posting this instrumental version! It sounds more interesting without vocals. The music speaks for itself.
I just picked up a Schecter Keith Merrow KM-6 MkIII Artist. Absolutely love it.
Your playing and composition just blows me away. A grand orchestra of metal goodness and texture. This art work is crazy cool too!
Pretty fucking sweet tunes man, just what I needed to get me going today, nice ratio of darkness
Oh yeah, I'll check this full thing out later with a bottle of scotch.
Better be heavily-peated!
Hey Keith! I just want you to know we listen to you here in South East Asia!
bro, why does youtube not recommend such good music and keeps going in loops? Took me years to find these jams, way too late
Best album I have heard in a long time. So unexpected too. Production is top notch. Just picked it up on Bandcamp. Thanks Keith 🔥🔥🔥
Had to factory reset my phone this morning. Have to reset all my work authentication tokens. This was catharsis after that.
can certainly hear the deserty vibes coming from Palmdale and Mojave.
Would really appreciate this version on spotify.

Fantastic work. Getting serious Gorguts vibes from this.

I don’t have the words. Speechless 😮
