Just discovered how to avoid the Walkaround. 1. Choose a Custom Start position, ('Set As Departure'), away from a parking spot. 2. In the 'Departure' box above, you can choose start type: "Airborne" "On Ground - Shut down" On Ground - Ready for takeoff". Same thing for On Water, too. All 3 choices will bypass the Walkaround.
I tried this and it works, thanks for the useful tip. I'm not quite sure what you mean though when you say it avoids the Walkaround. When you spawn Cold & Dark you are placed outside the plane and still faced with removing the covers etc. , which can only be done from the outside. The mouse is currently useless for this task due to its ultra sensitivity. I have used my controller joysticks but still had trouble removing the pitot tube covers. (Shift+c gets then you inside the plane to continue the start up procedures). I have given up C&D starts ups due to these problems. When Asobo fix these problems I might try C&D start ups again.
Some great tips there dude. I never realised they added a keybind for turning points of interest on and off. I fly with them off 99% of the time for the immersion factor. But sometimes I might want to turn them on to check something out. This makes it so much easier. Is this a new feature in 2024? I don't remember it being in 2020 As for the cockpit cameras, the first thing I do when I get into a new aircraft is create brand new custom cameras. I can't be dealing with the crappy default camera system. It drives me nuts lol
Hudds ... Despite your best efforts I'm just going to start from scratch on the Hotas, using your sensitivities. Clean sweep might get me flying eventually.
On XBox “Set Altimeter” seems to be superfluous since when you spawn in at an airport the sim automatically sets the correct altitude. I thought this was one of the assistance settings, but I couldn’t find which one? When I set a binding to “Set Altitude” it gave an incorrect altitude.
Hey bud hope your keeping well I’m just about to get 1gb internet and looking to start playing ms24 what do you suggest to start playing with I only have Xbox controller or kb and mouse. I am looking into getting a flight stick or yoke just not sure what one. Anyway to start off can I get away with using my controller and keyboard. I have a sim racing rig so can use my pedals as rudders or should I just stick with the controller Thanks
That’s right - it’s possible to use an XBox controller, but rather difficult to control a plane properly. I’d recommend the VelocityOne flight yoke/quadrant.
I see people here bragging about their internet connection and speed. You can have 1GB up/down but if it's not a stable connect you might as well have dialup. 30mbps on a stable, reliable connection is way plenty. It really comes down to the luck of the draw where you live I'm afraid.
Some great tips, I haven’t really sat down yet and fully gone through shortcuts. But now I’ll be able to, thanks huddison!
Just helping out where I can ;)
Woo! New splash intro😁
Thanks Huddison
My pleasure
Love it!! Keep up the good work sir 👍
I'll aim to;)
Huddison, crazy the amount of hoops you have to jump through just set up custom camera views to the hat switch.
It is mind boggling.
Thanks Huddison!
Always my pleasure.

I'll have to try that.

@ Apologies...I see what you mean about Cold & Dark with Walkaround. The "On Ground - Ready for takeoff" selection was a great discovery.
Even better. MSFS 2020
@@paulthurston2883 Yeah...long-winded reinstall of 2020 might be needed.

The waypoint markers toggle may well be new for FS2024; I also don't remember that option in FS2020.

Don't forget to ask in the Discord for assistance.
@Huddison Will do
Wow Huddison new intro for 2025? 😂
It is indeed, what do you think?
Let us know your thoughts :)
He's not Dilly dallying anymore...
Hi bud great tips. Will Track I R work?
Toni does with a slight work-around; possibly the dame for Track IR
Thanks I think my altimeter is set differently by default, on my keyboard in 24” it’s set to the comma key.
Hopefully this video demonstrates that you can set it to where you desire.
Hudds ... Getting these guidance grids on left screen on G1000. How do you knock them off.
That sounds like the Flight Director; is it the magenta boxes etc that you want disabled?
@Huddison On an instrument route these reddish grids come towards me on the left G1000 instrument panel. It's not an outside feature thankfully.

FS2024 is generally great at setting the correct altimeter; I had a couple of occasions where it didn't
Hudds ... Flying on instruments in a Cessna and it's very unstable despite being on NAV and AP with Approach Runway selected. Never happened on FS2020
FS2024 still needs some work for sure.
Back on FS2020.

You can't go wrong with the Hotas One as your first controller; if you have the cash, the Velocity One Flight Yoke is also a great choice.

I can fly most GA planes okay but my FPS tanks when I fly airliners (and the Longitude unfortunately)
My No 1 tip for MSFS 2024 ? Delete it.
A lot of is are enjoying it Paul
