Testing recommended rice paper on the gel plate

- In this video, I'm testing recommended rice paper and using some of my new stencil designs. The session was going great and then I had a mishap. But at least I got to try out the Yasutomo Hosho 9x12 paper that many of you recommended to me. Watch to see how the new paper worked out and If I liked it.

I feel so much better seeing someone of your caliber running into this problem! It actually gave me more confidence if that makes any sense. I would love to see some things you've used the deli paper for, I really like using them in layers. Can you do a video showing that!

I'm so sorry that happened! I hate bad days in my happy place (studio) From the way it exploded, it looked like the tip was clogged. Hope tomorrow is a better day.

I’m so sorry but the papers were awesome. Even the ones with the white paint. I’d spatter more colors and use them anyway.❤️

If it makes you feel any better, I picked up a tub of gel medium by the lid, which wasn’t screwed on properly! It’s amazing how far the stuff travels! We clean up, and move on, learning from our disasters! 🥴
Snap! I picked up a half-litre jar (roughly a pint) of bright blue-green paint by the lid. The jar fell and the paint flew out of the jar onto the newly painted wall and ceiling in the living-room. But I was able to patch paint the stains thank goodness.
As you said Susan, everyone has accidents and yours was a biggie. I would like to ask a question - can something be added to thicker paints to make them more translucent? I am a newbie and I haven't purchased all the most expensive paints as yet but when I see you using the lighter paints I want to go out and buy heaps but budget prevents me from doing so. Thank you for sharing (even your disasters).
Oh, my. What a mess! At least it wasn't a pthalo color. That would have been even worse.
Do you put the smooth side or the rough side of the rice paper down?
How do you prevent your papers from curling?

OMG I rewatched it and you weren't even squeezing that much harder than usual and it happened so fast. That is awful. I imagine it was difficult to know where to start the cleanup. If you don't have a sink in your studio--even more difficult. Your prints were coming out great, though.
OHH sorry about the mess. It reminded me of many years ago my sister was painting pink above a black and white tile wainscoting and while on the ladder, she dropped the tray of the pink paint....lol It went EVERYWHERE..lol I can definitely relate, those messes are no fun to clean up. Well the prints even the ones with the white paint on them look good.
I just hope it didn’t ruin a fa orite shirt😢
