    Speed dial is functional, VERY functional. Turn that black knob by pushing down on the little silver button perpendicular to the black lines (one is below the "27" in the opening of the movie) until it's where you wan it. Because modern films favor ISO, use the black line in the back by where you view through the viewfinder.

    Film Speed, in front it's the ASA speed, in back it's ISO. In the back of the camera is also a little line below #'s like 100, 200, 400. Line up the ISO # to the black line by pushing down the little silver button perpendicular to the black lines and turning the dial till the dial is where you want it for the ISO. Mine in the vid is set to 27 in the front, which means 400 is set in the back (ISO 400 = ASA 27).

    His film loading is of press shooter style right to left double check be sure of take up etc...everything else he will have to live and grow and learn have more photo vocabulary Etc...

    I think I figured it out. The film speed seems to be the black line next to the ASA. Right?

    the prakticas if i remember correctly were from the East German branch of Zeiss from the 60s to the 80s. Some had carl zeiss jena lenses on them, if so they are SORELY underrated cameras in the post-coldwar era. The irony is, the L-Flex is so reviled by collectors since it's not an M or a Screwmount that you can get a 50mm f/2 summicron mk1 and a Leicaflex Body in great shape for about $600 out the door.

    Could you tell me the name of that camera shop you mentioned? I bought a Leicaflex SL recently and was looking to get the lens release lever fixed.

    I've always regarded the Leicaflex as my Praktica's popular annoying brother

    Change the red and very breakable plastic lens release.. If it breaks with a lens on the body, you're screwed. While having that done, have the meter calibrated for the readily available 1.5 volt battery. The camera was built for the no longer available 1.35 mercury cell.

      +Ken Kaneki I did. :D. Right now the lightmeter is out of whatck.

      The 625PX battery is readily available at 1,35 Volt. Wein makes them now called MRB625. Works fine and no need for o-rings etc.
      Kind regards.

    Hi , I have a Leicaflex SL , I inherited from my grandfather. I've been using it for the last 3 years, but last march the shooter got stocked, completly. Because of the Quarantine I'm not able to search for a Repairman. Do you maybe know by chance what could be the problem? If there is something simple I could check out or take in mind? Have a nice day !

      Nothing is simple in those. Try www.dagcamera.com. he's good, and his price is fair

    I can't seem to find this information... Is the film speed dial just for show, like some of the older Leica M's or does it have a real function? Also where do I set the speed? For example, 400 speed film, do I set the dial at the lock? The ASA icon? Or that little slit on the lock dial you can see at 3:oo min mark?

    • @leslumieres1237
      @leslumieres1237 2 роки тому

      Of course it is not for show, it'll steer the lightmeter.

    • @ganzonomy

      Pull up on the rewind lever, then slide down the little deadbolt mechanism on the side of the camera

    • @ganzonomy
      @ganzonomy  3 роки тому

      Yes they are. Unfortunately they are quite a task to repair. And I've since moved on to medium format as my primary means of shooting film. I do, however, enjoy these cameras. But they are among the least reliable cameras in my collection sadly.

    Ganzonomy, I just got a Leicaflex SL. I bought a new battery and installed it, but I can't seem to understand what this battery does...(?) What's the purpose of this battery anyway?

    i see you stil have that red button on it, they tend to break off, most of them now have a metal release button on it, wich works fine!
