Dave deserves an Order of Australia Medal...... Really interesting post again. Plus super glad you are doing this for the safety of everyone on road and yourselves.
Dave is an absolute legend. The service he offers is so worth it and should be a prerequisite for anyone buying a caravan. Awesome vid again guys. Can’t wait to see the renos.
After your first weight video, we weighed our van and Prado Saturday. Including us and the dog. We are underweight. Have re-shifted the weight evenly and transferred the generator to the back of the Prado. 😅
Hi Guys, love your Chanel, we have been in Thailand for 2 weeks so just catching up on a few no we are back! Isn’t Dave amazing 😊 we have used him twice and wouldn’t use anyone else. Loving the van Reno, I am a Chippie and have done 2 as well so I feel your pain! We love how you guys are so natural and laid back it’s dam good to see these days. Keep up the awesome vids, Cheers Pete and Jane
I haven't watched it all yet. But Robert Pepper very recently did a video on single dual axel vans and the influence of ball height. Your van has load sharing suspension so should act as a single axel van for ball height variations to tbm.
We got Dave from Weightcheck to also weigh our van/car. Well worth the money and Dave was able to give great advice. Would highly recommend their services to anyone with a van. Also, where did you park up to get weighed? We are looking for somewhere in Brisbane where we can practice our reverse parking the van and that area looks great. Thanks guys and happy travels.
Thanks! That was at the Bracken Ridge netball courts. I’d recommend the shorncliffe boat ramp through the week though, huge open area and hardly anyone there
Great vid, he expalins it so easily. May even save a few kg's when doing the reno's as something are a lot lighter these days and do the same job. Seems you have 2 people on your back to get it sorted now 😁. Going to enjoy watching the changes.
Thanks for the great info on this video. Great stuff. Just one question. Dave mentions about tow ball height needing to be at correct height to the van when measuring .... thus your guesses into the small variation. So why doesn't Dave drive both car and van onto 60mm heights (scales for car and dummy blocks for van) - then no discrepancy?
I am not sure how you are going to fit your solar and batteries then carry water without doing a atm upgrade. I am waiting to see how you get around this in upcoming videos. I recommend solar blankets you can carry in the car.
Hi guys, love the vids. It is now legal apparently as of March this year that you can get a GCM upgrade on post rego cars in QLD. Could be a good option for the ranger to stay well and truly under weights.
@@nowornever_ausyeah you really need to worry more about axel weight as that’s how you get fined. As they issue fines on each axel that is over weight. And then if you are over on any of your total weights capacity’s 🤦
Well done Team! I've been to the weigh bridge a few times myself, removed a few things and have booked in for a professional weigh in. I want to ask how a WDH effects a load and what do the transport police do with them when weighing your car/van.
Great Work! We checked our Lotus Trooper to find it was close to max, so have been reducing the weight. Best move by ANY caravanner, to have their combination weighed correctly. Watching the reno's with keen eyes, and what mic's do you use? Do they sinc to a phone or specific camera? Thanks :)
i see more and more 4.5 tonne dualcab trucks with caravans on now, 8.5gvm all the weight problems go away, they nearly all have a tinny and cost the same as a new ute!
Yes it is amazing suspension! As far as I can tell it can only be upgraded by this one particular engineer when you have it installed at outback armour (or go directly to him after like I did) Best to give them a call and ask though as it may have changed since we have had it done 👍🏼
Hi guys, just watched your weigh in video. If your GCM is 6000kg, and your van ATM is 2900. The ranger can only weigh 3100kg. or you exceed GCM. Why did you get a GVM upgrade?
It all has to do with ball weight, yes the van is 2900 but the ball weight portion on that then loads onto the car when hooked up and becomes part of the gvm 👍🏼
If you need your van weighed, you NEED your van weighed, the laws now show no mercy, if you are involed in an injury accident, you will regret not doing this, she will be right is no longer a thing, with 33,000 new vans a year, you can bet that gorvernments will now enforce laws, they did it to 4wd, they are doing it to vans.
You don’t have 900kg to work with. As the atm stands. This guy is performing the weighing is ill informed and dangerous. He will be getting people in trouble a lot. As with this set up your GCM is limited to the atm of the trailer being towed. 😂😂😂😂 Good luck when you get weighed and fined.

Really just went with what was available at the time within the second hand market and with our budget 👍🏼

Agreed! Thanks!!
After your first weight video, we weighed our van and Prado Saturday. Including us and the dog. We are underweight. Have re-shifted the weight evenly and transferred the generator to the back of the Prado. 😅
So worth it! Glad it worked out for you!

Thanks so much guys! Glad your enjoying the reno!! 🙌🏼

We’ll have to give that video a watch! Thanks!
Awesome outcome, let the build begin!! 🤙🏻
Cheers! 🙌🏼
We used Dave from Weight check. He was awesome and made us feel confident with our set up 😅
He’s great isn’t he!!
Great news you two. Looking forward to the caravan renovation and car simplification...
Thank you!
Another great vid. Can’t wait to hopefully check out Bertha in person!!

@@nowornever_aus Cheers, thanks
Great vid. Very informative and I'm so glad that you've got weight to play with as you do your mods. 🙂
Thanks mate! We feel like we have a good amount to play with!

Thank you! Dave breaks it down and explains it so simply!!
Great informative 'tube' thanks guys 😊
Your welcome!
Some people dont have any respect, same happened to us in WA. Couldnt even put our annexe out enjoying your vdeos.Stay safe happy travells
🙌🏼
Good outcome and very educational.
Thank you!
Love this, so helpful! The first time you did it, it really surprised me. Have learnt a lot, so thanks for sharing!
Oh and Happy Easter! 🐰
We are so glad that it helped you! Thank you very much!
Wow did not know it was so involved great to watch and learn Thanks
Cheers, there is so much to towing weights that a lot of people don’t understand!

He did tell us why but I can’t remember sorry! Best contact him for the answer on that one 👍🏼
Good VLOG, thanks.
Cheers mate

We will definitely be doing the atm upgrade! Even if we didn’t need it it’s still so worth getting done 👍🏼

Yes we did notice this recently! Gives so many people more options now!
Another weighing 😅 awesome content and good information is good to be legal 👍Greetings and cheers 🍻 mate from south africa 🇿🇦
Thanks mate!
Great Vid guyus...!
Thanks team!! 🙌🏼
Thank you for the vid. How did your axle weights go? I have a ranger all within gvm, gcm and so on limits but rear axle weight is an issue.
We are under in both, have to be careful though as it’s close to the limit
thanks for posting. not sure if I missed it, did you talk about maximum axle loads?
No we didn’t, we’ll dive into that when we get the whole set up re weighed 👍🏼
@@nowornever_ausyeah you really need to worry more about axel weight as that’s how you get fined.

We use DJI wireless mics!
Swap that hitch get the do 35 hitch

Yes they are a great option, not for me personally but they tick a lot of boxes!
great vid, just curious, what GVM upgrade kit did you install?
We have the outback armour suspension and had an auto engineer upgrade the gvm
@@nowornever_aus happy with it? does outback armour sell the kit GVM kit? i am researching for mine atm
