Thanks so much for posting! The selection committee that decides who will be offered the opportunity for this procedure is meeting this Friday. I have had chronic ET since I was a teenager and have suddenly (in the last 6 months) noticed rapid escalation of my symptoms. Medications failed miserable so DBS is my only hope. I am 67 years old and am NOT willing to give up my work, my passions and my past times because they are just no longer viable. As an “information junkie” I found your video very good and informative. Every one I watch I learn something new!
So sad to say that, due to the covid-19 virus all elective surgery is canceled in our state so the selection committee will delay meeting until the situation becomes more stable. A prudent decision but disappointing nonetheless.
I had ET since my 20th. At 66 it got so worse that drinking from a cup or glass was extremely difficult since my hands were shaking severely. I also developed a head tremor over the years. I tried six types of medication but they didn't solve the problem. So in 2021 I underwent the DBS operation. I explained why in a video. Two weeks after the operation I made a follow up video.
Yes. I researched EEG technology in college, and yes, it can with the correct electrode stimulation, according to some studies. It is still experimental in some applications, however.
whoops. I replied before watching the video, and this is what they say there. You can also use EEG to help reduce Schizophrenia symptoms, according to a few studies, but that is very new and requires trials to build a machine learning data base for each patient.
