Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

Keep Ya Head Up is a top 10 Tupac song of all time, so that goes without saying I have it as my top pick from this album.
2. Holler If You Hear Me
3. Streetz R Death Row
Very underrated album. This is where Pac began to really hit his stride, he grew tremendously as an artist from his debut.

My 3 favorites are peep game, guess who’s back and representin’ 93 🎧🔥
Admittedly, I was never big on this album. But that's not a diss bc I own a hard copy of it, and there is some classic material on here. If I had to choose 3 songs:
1. Holla if ya Hear Me

3. Last Words
Point The Finga would be my number 1 choice from this album

I wish you’d review some uk hip hop albums, there’s some classics. Hip hop is worldwide not just a US thing 🤷🏼♂️
Agreed, @MrMr187. We hope & plan to eventually. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.
as far as international hip hop, it's only a US thing, lets keep it 1000
Holla if ya hear me, Strictly 4 my N!@@$, Peep game.
The streets is death row. papas song and last Wordz
You can say the N word, it’s the title 🤣
MR, SOREN BAKER SINCE YOU WROTE A BOOK ABOUT GANGSTA, I THINK IT WOULD VERY INTERESTING FOR YOU TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT POLITICAL AND REVOLUTIONARY RAP(SUCH AS BDP WHO WOULD BECOME KRS ONE, PUBLIC ENEMY PARIS PROPHETS OF RAGE IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE 2PAC WHO IN MY OPINION WAS A REVOLUTIONARY DEAD PREZ YOU COULD ADD ON MUSICALLY HARDER BANDS SUCH AS RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE WHO ALTHOUGH WERE NOT EXACTLY HIP HOP ZACH IS SUCH AN MC AND I DONT KNOW, SOME OTHERS, I BELIEVE SOMEONE WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE WOULD RELEASE A WONDERFULL BOOK
I hated that style " born wicked lawrence powell , foul" Ice T was using it on last wordz also and it was equivalent to using BUM STICKITY BUM STICKITY DAS EFX lingo ... its like the whole rap era from this time was using that " born , wicked, lawrence , powell , foul" god its so cringe worthy every one from that era used it and its so corney...
God whenever I listen to that golden era I also hear so many artists from that time using that I guess like you said that Ice Cube born wicked Lawrence Powell flow so wack lol
Ice t 🤣 -A lot of niggas hate me, but they can't fade me
Stop me, clock me, cops wanna Glock me - cubes style 👎
Honestly I never liked this album. I copped it upon release date and rushed home to play it and was disappointed. The production sucks for the most part although there are two all time classics found here: I Get Around and Keep Ya Head Up will never grow old. Representin '93, The Streetz R Deathrow and Strictly 4 My Ninjas are all pretty dope and are closer to what I expected going in. Everything else is skippable. I think after his passing everything he did became "a classic" so to speak but this is my least favorite of his albums.
You thought his solo debut two years earlier was better than thus album?
@@mikegillins4992 Honestly? Yes. I liked him immediately and although 2pacalypse Now doesn't have a Keep Ya Head Up or I Get Around on it I liked the run of songs that start and end the album. Trapped, Young Black Male, Soulja's Story, I Don't Give A, Violent and Words Of Wisdom all had simple but funky production and Pac was dropping knowledge. Crooked Ass Ninja, If My Homie Calls, Brenda's Got A Baby, The Lunatic and Part Time Mutha make up the heart of the album and made me a real fan. The only "weak" tracks on the album are "Something Wicked" and "Rebel Of The Underground" which have the worst beats (that Old McDonald melody on Rebel and the pseudo-Bomb Squad noise on "Wicked" just don't work). Strictly 4 My Ninjas ends well but muddy "Cypress Hill" style production hurts the album IMHO.
