I totally agree with some others Eli , I listened to you years ago before I could get a cable or satellite service. We listened to the MRN out in back yard , speakers in windows , grill smoking and the race was covered so well it was like being there. Eli s voice was always iconic and yes, he definitely was a Hall of Fame
announcer and when I started watching Alabama football I loved hearing Eli over anyone yelling " Touchdown Alabama".

So many greats. Must acknowledge these plays with Mr Golds voice is what's special. Mr Golds voice is made for sports. I can hear Mr Gold announce a MLB game anyday of any week period.

Been listening to Eli for years...he is the best. Of course people would say I'm biased but, hey, The man is a good announcer, he paints a picture in your mind very well. He is also, or was, great at NASCAR too.
The Kenyon Drake kickoff return in the National Championship needs to be in there. Definitely in my top 3 favorite all time BAMA plays.

"Make a man miss" Classic! RTR
It's such a classic, iconic thing with Phil Savage saying that for two reasons: 1) He NEVER gets that emotional on a crucial/game saving play, and 2) Him talking into his mic like that during the actual play is really a huge NO-NO for color analysts and could well have gotten him fined/suspended by the CTSN and Learfield Sports, though something tells me that given the situation of the play and how it actually makes the whole thing that much more special and iconic.

It was definitely one of those plays that I will always remember where I was, as well as everyone else in my house.
My little brother was upstairs, I was on the middle floor, my dad was in the basement, and my mom was in the garage getting a bottle of water. Why were we all on different floors you as? Well, as many bama fans know, when games get close like this, we dont want to be around anyone, we just need to get in our element and watch the game. This was one of those times. I remember when the play started and saw that Yeldon was going to get the ball I stood up and saw immediately what was happening. Seeing Yeldon run it in with that amount of time on the clock astounded me. My dad went crazy, my brother went crazy, and my mom was confused :D. Never so much emotion in a household that night, and I'm pretty sure our neighbors think we are crazy... but they don't know what it's like to be a bama fan.
The only other time I have yelled so loud is when Kenyan Drake ran the TD back in the Natty against Clemson, and thats probably because I was in the stadium when it happened :P.

Over the years I have had to work on many Saturdays and, therefore I've listened to Eli a lot. Some of favorites have been "the deuce is loose!", "31-7 good guys", but my very favorite thing Eli says is "He's gonna go!"

Fans would show up with pitchforks if he did not make it into the hall of fame. People used to give him flack, saying he was there for the money, not a real fan and so on. I have listened for like two decades and I can tell you he BLEEDS crimson. Eli is as much a great in my eyes as any player.

I prefer Doug Layton and Tommy Charles with Jerry Duncan on the sideline. They really described the game in detail and really made you feel you were at the game.
Best play ever was when Van Kiffen made that 52 yarder to beat Auburn with 6 seconds left. Or when Bo went the wrong way and blocked his own running back. I was at that game..

Great video...... But how did the 2007 Arkansas game call not make this..... I will try to link it.... it may be easier to just search it yourself..... I was there and that was the monkey off our backs game under Saban.... yes we lost to la Monroe that year and lost 6 games but that was a fight and win and you felt it and heard it..... One of the greatest plays and calls of all time..... Those were the days the hard seasons of 4-7 and 3-8 was coming to an end.....
