Before the show aired, Mark Harmon dressed up as an agent and went into NCIS HQ and went into a meeting and gave a briefing, everyone thought he was a real agent and not an actor (of course security and those in charge knew it was happening, but none on the agents.) This was explained in the BTS on the first season when it was released on DVD.
In the episode where the terrorist blow up a naval ship. Dinozzo makes a comment "I have a better chance getting with Jessica Alba than they do getting on the ship" which is funny cause he was engaged to her when they were on Dark Angel together.
Watchdog Pdr True! Although the pilot technically was the two crossover JAG episodes that aired before ‘Yankee White’ and although they have their own names ‘Ice Queen’ & ‘Meltdown’ there is apparently a combination or composite episode of the two referred to as ‘Navy NCIS : The Beginning’ that they aired at one point. But the dude in this video was still mighty incorrect ;-;
Even if we disregard the other show, sometimes the pilot episode goes through a couple different names. I didn’t catch it when first watching it on TV but on Amazon prime it’s definitely Yankee White which fits well with the episode and the title structures of the rest of the episodes :) he might have been wrong but it was still a good watch.
I did know that, but I didn’t know that McGee a was actually the directors stepson and that a lot of their real family played the characters family as well!
As a huge fan of JAG, I would have loved it if, when John M. Jackson (Admiral Chegwidden - ret.) guest starred as Gibbs' lawyer he had visited the NCIS office, saw McGEE, given him a double take and commented how much he resembles the son of a woman he used to date. It would have been a cool nod to the actors having worked together before.
I actually knew about 95 percent of these. Did you know that Pauley Perrette went to Valdosta State University the same year as my parents? I just thought that was pretty cool.
I started watching NCIS in October 2019 and I’ve already watched every episode to S1 - S17 And re-watched most of them like 1 Million times. I absolutely love this show and I am surprised about all of these facts.
I love NCIS best series ever I’m on the second time watching it, my 3 years old like too she knows everybody names, she said she wanna be a agent when she grown up ☺️
I always like the bit where Kate asks Gibbs what Ducky looked like when he was younger and he said Illya Kuriakin whom David McCallum played in "the Man from U.N.C.L.E." T.V. series int he 60's.
Basically, the majority of each character's personal background came from each actor's personal life. Like how both Gibbs and Harmon played football growing up.
Additional fun fact, Sean Murray's Biological father is a retired Navy Admiral. Though his father is still alive unlike how it's portrayed in the show during his "dear dad" letters. I know this cause his father was my math professor in community college.
The only details ever wrong in the show were easily studied facts about the geography and how big certain cities in the Greater DC Area were, but they are the closest to accurate of all the other DC based crime shows. At least NCIS isn't as glaringly wrong as Criminal Minds showing Arlington VA, a huge city in real life, as a deserted countryside with one mechanic shop and a handful of trailer homes in empty fields and woods.
I was under 12 years old when I first watched NCIS, but I watched it with my mom and I'm still doing that, especially with season 17 being aired in Norway. And as the years passed, I spoiled myself with the unaired episodes of NCIS. The only thing is that my mom and I've never watched the 2 episodes of JAG that lead to NCIS, we've only watched the episodes leading to NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans
N.C.I.S. is one of my favorite ever tv shows, and I’ve watched every single seasons (the second being my absolute top favorite)....up until the 13th one where DiNozzo/Weatherly left - the chemistry between him and Gibbs above all, but also with Abby and McGee was imo one of the main reasons the show was so good. After DiNozzo/Weatherly went away, the character development felt kind of flattened and the series lost any appeal to me.
I always liked when Kate wondered what Ducky looked like as a young man and Gibbs walks by and says Yuri Kuriakan thus naming the role Ducky played in Man From U.N.C.L.E. My daughter, like Kate and Tony, asked who that was and I explained it to her.
