I love the fact that you sing despite not being a 'great' singer, I can't really explain why, but I think its wonderful and wished
more people felt the way you do.
For me making music is just for fun, because I love it. Like zazen it's a goalless practice.
That's why we notice Ziggy. He is really good at dogging.
Brad…I really appreciated this, as a mathematician who does music for fun and dreams of some day recording something. If you want to just very slightly improve your voice I suggest every day for 10 minutes or so just holding notes. I do this when driving to work. Everybody next to me must think I’m crazy because my windows are open but I don’t care. But I usually do is sing a major triad then a minor triad then 1/ seventh and a sixth and then lower it by a note and another note and so on. The main thing is holding notes so that my voice doesn’t waiver so much. I learned this when I sang in the choir in college for a short time. My singing did get much better during that semester.I write little songs and I know I have to be the singer because I can’t get someone else to do it kind of like you! Good luck I really had fun with this video.
I dig your music. It’s honest, and that’s something you don’t hear on radio much these days.
My own teacher had always been encouraging if my musical endeavors, so take that for what it’s worth
Great confessions, Brad! I've turned 3 of my hobbies into startups. Best and worst decision. Losing a hobby, eventually also the business. Dukkha for everyone....
Cool man! Keep sharing your music.
Well that was… relatable! 😅
“Not seeking fame” to me not only is the essence of Punk, but when we really take this notion seriously it can become a very profound precept to aim to follow as, at least for some people, this warped idea of success through external validation (and money) can exert a constant and disruptive pull, and that sentence was very very long and I’m sorry for that. Anyways, thanks for sharing your experience Brad!
Good video, thanks. I also wanted to comment on the 'Anemia' video, but the comments are turned off on that. I really liked the walk down memory lane with all the photo album shots. Good song. You mom is beautiful.
Great video! Just what I needed to hear today.
A lot of people didn't like Bob Dylan's singing either....
Hope there will be some kinda release of the new "Mirror Mind"
I'm pretty sure I was the first person on this channel to notice the similarity between Beck and Brad's music. The timbre of the two voices are almost identical...but Beck's voice stays on pitch (in tune) and is recorded far more prominently in the mix of his recordings.
Beck has a song called GIRL...that sounds like Brad could have written it.
Fewer humans have been more famous then Shakyamuni Buddha
The best thing about Mirror Mind album is not only the cover, but also the title!
Although I like the 0DFX stuff more, I watch all your music videos. From what I understand, if you do something with all your heart and intention, that is zen practice. I'm currently working my way through all your books. Your a talented writer and making a song wherein you play all the instruments is very impressive. An old Master once said " one man's fender bass, is another man's shakuhachi."
I quite like your singing voice. There's something cool about it.
: Zen---"kind of a disparaging attitude toward ambition'" Not the zen I know. If it makes you happy and is done with all your heart and without a swelled head, it is perfectly OK IMO. Without some kid of ambition, couch potato life looms and surely that is not the way to spend one's life.
Very interesting vid. Punk and hardcore are my specialties.. I've had published on internet audiophile sites article on the best punk albums. And I used to hang out at Midnight Records too. I think we could be friends. I'm going to check on UA-cam to see if any of your Zero Defex songs are
To me people also say that i cannot sing. But unfortunately, i let them win.
You are like the Ozzy Osborne of singing. It's not a beautiful voice, but it's an authentic one.
Dig your music, man!
I wish I could sing lead on your songs.
Any idea what the saying "famous for not being famous" means?
I haven't heard that phrase. I've heard of people who are famous for being famous, as in they don't really have any talent except a talent for getting famous.
@@HardcoreZen It's just something I heard about 15 years ago, still haven't figured it out tho...I always thought it was like one of those zen koans.
I know of some people who do a niche thing and have ZERO interest about being famous, getting noticed, making a living, or being great, or any of that, and yet still have an audience. Maybe that.
It's famous for BEING famous, like Paris Hilton, no talent, other than the talent for publicity.
Make new albums. Outsider music don't gotta be. Inbounds. Your music is art🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️❤️❤️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Not as good as LL Cool J “Going Back to Cali”, but I enjoyed your song clip. 👍🏼
CTR had a horrible singing voice, but he sang (loudly) anyway 😁
Beck? Very much like what Beck was doing? You?
You might have had some ideas but Beck had the ability to get it all done.
Didn't Beck make five Platinum albums?
Why minimize Beck's achievements by comparing yourself favorably to him?
And I thought I was mean..
Too bad all your concrete proof vanished.
If you haven't been seeking rock fame.
You needn't make excuses for why you're not famous
I don't think Beck is too worried about me "minimizing his achievements" (which I didn't do anyway). After all, he made five platinum albums! What have I ever done?
@@HardcoreZen I think you are right.
Beck wouldn't be worried.
I feel you minimized what he has done by comparing yourself to him.
You said it wasn't so much a matter of talent as it was of circumstances..
It felt a little passive-aggressive to me.
But maybe I imagined that..
I sort of liked your California song.
Because I liked the two songs you put together to make it.
That seems like a fun thing to do.
@@whoisthegaucho I think Beck is great! When I first heard Loser I had two thoughts: 1) That's a great song! and 2) Gosh darn it! I was doing stuff like that 5 years ago and never put any of it on my albums! I don't think what I did is better. I'm slightly older than Beck, I think. He probably came up with his style via many of the same influences I had. Anyway, Thanks!
