What a great find. Great project bike for your son. What a lucky kid to have a father to teach him how to work on bikes and learn to build bikes . Great job mate.
Been looking for TW200 here in Slovakia for quite some time now. They are not sold in Europe anymore, so the only way to get it is finding a used one. Obviously, there are not too many of them. The one you got looks in a really good shape, now that you brought it back to life, it doesn't even look like it's been left outside in the elements for such a long time. Good job!
Parts are plentiful and cheap. This will be a great starter for your son to learn. Very easy to work on and Mod if you want. I have acquired a 1998 TW200 with only 261 miles on it, My friend purchased it new and never titled it just road it a little on his farm then parked it for 10 to 15 years. It was inside covered in mold and dust, just like yours it looked really good after pressure washing. the tank was fine but needed a battery and carburetor. It now runs like a champ.
You should probably coat the inside of the tank to prevent further and future rusting. Bill Hirsch company made an alcohol resistant coating that I used on many tanks over the years with great sucess. Their coating is thin and I would do two applications and dry it with a slow stream of air overnight. Very nice video-you should be proud of both you and your son! Best of luck riding and taking on future projects.
Great video! My son recently bought a 2013 Tdub with 300 miles. It was just sitting in a man’s garage for years. It needed some love but now it looks amazing and runs like new. Congrats on your rebuild!
Great job, Rado! Kids need this! Quality time with dad, while learning lessons in problem-solving, and hard work! To this day, the smell of carb cleaner takes me back to the garage of my childhood home rebuilding carbs with my father! Keep up the good work my friend!
Damn, you're feeding your kids well 😁 I remember first watching Dirt & Iron videos when Timmy was hiding behind your legs, now he turning wrenches and reviving bikes on camera 👍
Just brought one home myself. Mine was in much worse shape and 5 years older. I'm about ready to take it for a ride today after the mail gets here with my final parts order.
Started right up!!! what an awesome video/project you did with your son! I am currently looking for one of these or a dr200. Such fun little bikes that are very capable!
make sure you do a valve check, it needs one after the break in period and every 3,000 miles after and you don't know if original owner did it. Tdub needs to do a valve check more often then most bikes but it's MUCH easer to do usual taking less than 20 min.
Dangit Rado, theirs a real early tw200 I like nearby me that I've been watching slowly go down in price and now someone's gonna watch this video and swoop in and buy it 😭😂
You can put some clean gravel or machine nuts in and shake it like mad and I would advise a coating for the inside of the tank. Bill Hirsch company sold a ascohol resistant coating many years ago and it might still be available. I have coated many mc tanks, boat tanks and several auto tanks with it with no failures. Good luck@@dirtniron
Your friend must have a lot of money to just park this bike and let it sit and rot. He should have sold it right when he was done riding it and made some good cash.

Very cool. Father and sons make the best team. Would you think about doing a KDX build? Look into the history of them. Ride safe my 2 wheel friends.
