Dreaming Kids was the movie Satoshi Kon was working on after Paprika (the movie the detective went to see at the end of Paprika), but unfortunately Satoshi Kon passed away before being able to complete it.

One of my favourite films. I watched this at 2am, and it freaked me out. But for some reason, the story was so interesting to me. Dreams to me are fascinating. :)
Paprika is my all time favorite movies, I watched it 3 times in a row when I first found it on UA-cam for free. The film to me is about balancing out your life. If you have a life purely in reality, life can feel dull. Dr Chiba's life even with Paprika is dull, analytical, and something that doesn't even feel like her own. Not even her dreams. A life purely in dreams is toxic. Chairman and Himoru escape into their dreams for whatever they need to gratify them. Chairman's dream goal is control, hence taking over everyone's dreams among other things. Himoru is a bit more vague but its implied that hes a closeted gay man. And then when the parade was taking over the city, we see that people were turning into their dreams. People trying to gain control by sitting atop the chair, or turning into instruments implying a passion for music. But this is in a unhealthy march to nowhere. Hell, it just hurts them in reality. But if you mix the two, life gets a bit more flavorful. Chiba knows this, she uses dreams to help people with their mental health. Konakawa uses his dreams to get over his guilt of leaving his film making career behind, allowing him to finish his case and still enjoy films. Dreams are the spice of life, just note that downing a spoonful of paprika doesn't feel all too good. Is this what the entire film is about? god no. It poses so many themes about creativity, expression, sexuality, companionship, subconsciousness, abuse of power, and even adaptations. The movie is based off of a book of the same name and its well aware of that. The 2 bartenders are voiced by the director and the author of the book! What Im getting at is that this movie is practically made to be discussed. What did y'all think of it?
I would highly recommend watching Ghost in the Shell if you want something dense and visually intriguing.. GITS came out like 20 years before Paprika, so it’s interesting to see how Japanese anime inspired the movies we have today
4:50 like Inception ... XD no kidding ... there is a lot of inspiration from there in Inception ... like Requiem of a dream and Black Swan from Perfect Blue, the "Lying" King ... :)
Off topic, but ya'll posted Thor Ragnarok three months ago are ya'll going to continue with the follow ups? The Marvel reactions just stopped with no explanation...

Not quite right. It's "Dreaming Machine".
@@mulrich They can finish it, the script and storyboard are ready by Satoshi Kon, all that's missing is the animation.

We loved it. These movies that are complicated in themes and keep you thinking are our favorites
This film was actually one of the inspirations for Inception :)
Yep, so many scenes from this movie reproduced in inception too
You should check out Millenium Actress, done by the same studio and director. His best film in my opinion.
The composer of The Girl From Byakkoya (the theme) was so proud of his creation he made it a free download.

I love millenium actress as well. Especially the movie with the ed song called "Rotation" is perfect.
It is said that the movie ``Inception'' plagiarized ``Paprika.''
