    808. Tubescreamer. Famous Green Overdrive. Call it what you will but the credit for its creation goes back to 1979 and the engineering of Mr. Susumu Tamura. Mr Tamura has partnered once more with Maxon to release the Apex 808, a NOS version of his widely loved and classic overdrive. Is there an audible difference between the Apex 808 and the OD808? I'll let this video help you decide.
I am aware that this video's recording technique as well as chosen platform, guitar and pickups will probably draw criticism from the experts gallery on the usual forums and pages. I'm not fussed. If I was comparing these two overdrives on stage, where it counts for me, this is how I would be doing it, so I make no apologies. Discrete A/B boxes and clinical testing are great but you won't find them here, I'm afraid. There are other videos featuring the Apex 808 that will probably accomodate more discerning viewers better than this one. Disclaimers aside, I hope you enjoy my contribution.
Many thanks to Kevin at Godlyke for having me onboard to help with the Apex 808 project.
