I find it frustrating that a customer will come in wanting a certain price, however when Rick brings in an expert, which costs money by the way, only to find out the item is worth much more than they originally thought.
What bothers me is that they then want way too much for it, and in some cases they will even leave to sell the item elsewhere for a higher price. Yeah, that really irks me every time I happens.
He knew that coin was a fake.
It never ceases to amaze me how greedy people get when the expert is called in, and I think what's worse is how people have no idea how retail sales work. The expert gives the coin a value of 18,000 and the guy wants 18,000 after asking for 2,000 to start. Duh! I know these guys low ball customers a lot on here, but Rick could have easily handed him 2,000 for the coin, took a chance and called the expert, pocketing 16 grand, or more.
Look at it this way, how much would Rik have given the guy if the expert said the thing was a counterfeit? Nothing? So it’s not like they had a deal.
