But questions are about which cognitive skills are important for reading comprehension. There is also the issue of which cognitive skills you are referring to: Sustained Attention. Response Inhibition. Speed of Information Processing. Cognitive Flexibility. Multiple Simultaneous Attention. Working Memory. Category Formation. Pattern Recognition. My suggestion is to set up a study: (1) Measure specific cognitive skills in a group of students. (2) Conduct a program aimed at improving reading comprehension. (3) Retest students to measure for increases in the original cognitive skills you tested.
