I have an F150 on order and was looking for ideas on how to build this. I am so thankful you did it as I want to do the exact same thing. Though will put some strap attachments on the legs to hold it in the event of an accident.
Thanks! You just helped give me an idea. I tried one of those blow up beds so someone can sleep in the backseat but it sucked. I returned it. I'll just make something because I want it to fit nice and snug and cover all the space for more sleeping room. Then throw a memory foam mattress on it. It's hard to find overland stuff for the F150. I'm just now upgrading my truck and installing my Truck Tent on the Roof with a custom universal track mount and platform rack.
@@camirichan7962 No - just measure the width for the platform, I think mine was around 34" for the crew cab, and I used a level to determine the correct length of the legs with the floor mats.
I have a F150 Supercrew. removing the back seats and carpenter is building me a sleep platform which will be a bit wider than yours and have a board on the back 1 1/2 inch room to hold my weather tech sunshade. When I put the passenger seat forward I have 8 inch for my feet If i lay diagonally. Thanks for the tips!
The commercially available PetDek is a much simpler solution to this problem at 23x48 inches, 12 lbs, supporting 200 lbs and can span bucket seats. Installation or removable is 60 seconds.
Appreciate the ingenuity! My issue is, our large 85lb dog has hip dysplasia and cannot jump up or down from that height. I'm still trying to figure out a solution. I see your dog is nimble and can jump to the running boards first. Does he/she get up the same way?
My dog can jump up there easily right now. You could get a folding motorcycle ramp and screw wood over the holes. If you don't know what I'm talking about look up dirt bike or motor cycle ramp. Then look up chicken ramp. Something like that that can fold would fit under the seat and hold the weight.
Brilliant! Wish you were nearby!
Glad you liked it and hope it helps you out.
Gorgeous. Well done. Thx for sharing.
Thank you for watching!

On the bottom/rear of it, I screwed an eye bolt into it and ran a strap through it and around the seat. Glad it helped!

That's the best way. Just make what you need.
Adapting this for my Ram 1500 Crew Cab - thank you!!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad I could help!
@@simpleinstinct Done! I love it! Thanks again!
I also have a ram 1500, did the specs change much from this if you made it??

They make ramps you can purchase on amazon too. 😊
Great idea , what is the final dimension, in width, door against door?
Thanks mate.
With the foam?
@@simpleinstinct yes 🙌
Measuring to include the foam and fabric. It is approximately 60 inches.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm still using this same dog bed. It's held up over the years. The fabric is still in good shape too. I hope this helps.
Any chance you can make me one for a 2018 Toyota Camry?
Well I don't have a camry to use as a template and a cheap way to ship it. I'm sure you can do it.
Im gonna use this thank u
It's still working great for me.
My 2020 f150 5.0 STX has a dog platform as well. It's called the bed of the truck 🤣
I even put her dog box back there so she has a soft bed to lay on.
Yeah before I had a tonneau cover and tent that was the spot.
