    From what company told me about the spinning grip was, its made that way so the needles dont hang and you can adjust your needle depth,... i was not used to running my coil machine with the needle hanging that much out the tube!!

    • @ThatTattooGuyOfficial
      @ThatTattooGuyOfficial  5 років тому

      I still let my needles hang and work right off of the tip of the needles.

      It's running well! I use it every day

    • @Yeame143
      @Yeame143 5 років тому

      Me too, it's the best machine I've ever used when it come to versatility. Also it has a Maxon motor, which, when properly care for will run forever. The voltages tend to be higher with Maxon motors tho. Axys gives voltage parameters betweer 8 and 14.5, stating the machines likes the higher voltages. As always start low and work your way up I usually ruv between 12.5 and 13.5. I'm not a sponsored artist, so I have zero ties to the company or this gentleman who did the video. Everything that has been stated here I agree with completely. I have multiple Stigma machines had the Xion(sold it to get the Valhalla) have a Neotat and a drawer full of coil machines. I'm not coming from using a junk machine.

      FK irons , spectra Xion pen is a captive end which keeps the cartridge from rotating , but that may be the only one that does it. I wanna try one of these so bad, I love my Xion but I like having options!

      @drewblood3604 5 років тому +1

      Seventh Trumpet Tattoos i was in the first 500 to get the machine so I’ve had it since the presales. It’s an awesome machine but I only have other FK iron rotaries to compare to since I haven’t owned any other pens. I mainly do Neo trad so it works well for bold lines and color packing, but becomes a pain if you need smooth b&G or soft color blends. But I will say it beats the hell out of the spectra edge X and the halo2 . The only thing it has on the axys is the smaller size and the FK irons name behind it, otherwise it seems the Valhalla wins in every other category.
      I’ll have to try one and see how it compares though! I’ll give you a follow on IG , I’d like to see some of your work with the machine for sure!

    • @ThatTattooGuyOfficial
      @ThatTattooGuyOfficial  5 років тому +1

      @@drewblood3604 oh really? I heard it sucks for lining and is great for black and grey... I have the halo 2 and edge x also and the Valhalla makes them look like child's toys.. I use to love those machines now I don't touch them. Let me know how you like one if you get one for sure!

    What is the voltages you are running it at?

    • @ThatTattooGuyOfficial
      @ThatTattooGuyOfficial  5 років тому +1

      For lining I go from 6.8-8 volts depending on what grouping it is.
      For shading or color packing 6.8-7.2ish.
      It all depends on how you work tho.

    • @dannyfleeman4885
      @dannyfleeman4885 5 років тому

      when lining what do you set the stroke at , I love this machine but I switched from the lace nano to this, the lace had a 6 mm stroke and is magnetic driven I love the Valhalla with the jet pack but I am having a hard time getting the ink in the skin and with the lace nano it is effortless to get the ink in after tatting with the lace for 5 years this machine really makes me question my ability to tattoo and the lace will not run cartridges, or a battery pack any help would be very much appreciated thanks

  • @stressthemindLOTL
    @stressthemindLOTL 5 років тому

    From my understanding, adjusting the stroke doesn’t make the needle hit the skin quicker. On a rotary machine, when the cam rotates, one full rotation equals one full in and out motion of the needle. Assuming you are operating at the same voltage (which controls speed on rotaries) and you change a stroke length, the speed of the needle hitting the skin is identical, but the longer stroke has faster needle bar speed, as the needle needs to travel a greater distance in the same amount of time, creating the harder hit. Or am I not correct?

    • @ThatTattooGuyOfficial
      @ThatTattooGuyOfficial  5 років тому

      stressthemindLOTL hmmm... I’ve always thought that because of the shorter rotation at the same voltage it would hit the skin softer, but faster just because of the shorter distance it had to travel opposed to the long stroke to where it has more distance to travel so it hits the skin harder, but less times at the same voltage.
      That’s how I had it explained to me.

    • @stressthemindLOTL
      @stressthemindLOTL 5 років тому

      Well I suppose someday I will have to get a super high speed camera and conduct some science! Haha, thanks for the great review dude, seems like an amazing machine, this convinced me to try the rotary world

    Do you autoclave your grip everytime? And I’d like to strike this conversation.. so when you use your cartridges and pop them out of the machine and onto your workstation to go to next cartridge, if you go back to the original cartridge, now the cartridge is soiled from top to bottom. The push pin part and all. If you put that back into the grip, you’ve now contaminated the push rod in your machine. How do you clean the push rod in the machine if it’s housed inside? It’s the only reason I haven’t invested in one.

    • @ThatTattooGuyOfficial
      @ThatTattooGuyOfficial  4 роки тому +1

      I use the disposables so I don’t have to. I just prefer disposable either way. But for that there is a removable cap that the cartridge sits up against which is then removable to clean and then the push rod is behind it which you then can also clean.
      Any other pen I’ve never seen something you are able to clean everything. This one they designed it to be able to clean everything.

    • @cameronpowell1426
      @cameronpowell1426 4 роки тому

      Seventh Trumpet Tattoos so last question, with disposable grip you only clean machine with disinfectant? No autoclave?

    • @ThatTattooGuyOfficial

      No you don’t autoclave the machine. Only the grips unless they are disposable.
