My 4 year old son cannot get enough of this tutorial. He LOVES Man Sewing, and it has become part of bedtime routine. I've witnessed him on multiple occasions playing "man sewing" as he stands behind the table showing his "audience" how to make something.
I will be using this tutorial to make several capes for my Relay For Life event this year. Here in Clinton County Michigan our theme is Heroes of Hope (Superheroes).

You should talk to me, I've been doing capes since 2008, I have 3 red capes, a white cape, and black cape, and polyester works best

I can't imagine a Monday without the fun, joy and excitement you bring! Your children must simply adore you for the crafts you come up with for them. I loved your tip for tracing and putting "markers" and then filling them in with the straight line rulers, I always get wobbly lines, thanks! Another awesome tutorial!

Carol Doyle thank you, thank you, thank you!! That means a lot. My kids still think I'm cool, but I dread the day they stop thinking that!! :) Glad you enjoyed that tip for tracing, it's saved me on many projects!!

wow!!! another great video!!!! I'm very proud of you for telling us that you know you left your blade open because it shows that you know it should be closed. I have a 19 year old daughter that would love to have a Batman cape. I think i'll put a hook in her room hang the cape on it and above it make a sign that states "Home is where you hang your cape" she would love that. lol

Thank you for the Monday morning laugh. I love the cape. My great grandson will love one of these when I find the time to make it. I am so amazed at how you can cut with the rotary cutter freehand. I still cannot get the hang of that one.

Love your tutorial on the "Safe" cape straps. I too refused to make a cape that goes around the neck. I plan on making your design for my 3 year old grandson. Thank you.

You are so flippin' hilarious. The intro made me cackle. lololol. Totally awesome tutorial, and the tip for tying the cape is absolute genius. I've always hated the choking ties and ended up pinning them to my bra strap (Sorry for minor TMI, but it's a great anchor, lol, and I seem to find myself in caped costumes more than the average person. lol) But even safety pins have their hazards, and this lets you play with the kids, with lots of mobility, and not worry about a pin exploding off the cape and hurting someone.

Rob, love your tutorials!!!!! I love your approach to sewing, just go for it!!! I have a tip for you, instead of using the sharpie marker switch to the Friction pens, they work just as well but when you iron the item the lines disappear!!!!!!! they also come in an assortment of colors

Love it!! Thanks for the tip about backing my fabric with a piece of paper when satin stitching; I've always done it by hand.
Also, the tip of having the ties go underneath the arms to the back? Genius!
I have a really sick kiddo who's been staying at home from school with me. I really needed some laughs and, Rob, you were so kind enough to supply them! Thank you and I'll see ya next week! :)

... just stumbled upon your tutorials and now I'm hooked! I subscribed your channel. Btw. I love your shirts and logos. The manly needle remembered me a little bit of ZZ Top -- "Sew Sew top", wouldn't this be a good name for your band? ;)

  • @barryallenflash1

Okay...Flash does not wear a cape, but he DOES wear a mask. Any idea on how to make his mask. Thought of taking a rayon type material, wrapping it around my head, pinning it, then sewing it. Of course there is MORE to it than that.
How about doing a tutorial on that....I might subscribe to this channel if I saw that. It appears that NO ONE on UA-cam wants to post a video on how to make a Flash mask. How bout it? You'd be the first! Let me know.
