Thanks for making this. Picked up a project 8 for cheap and im swapping leather interior for cloth but i wanna keep the electric seat and i couldnt figure out how to take the upper half apart.
niospartan did you successfully get the cloth seat pans installed on the power seat base? I'm looking to install the leather cushions from my power seat onto a manual seat base..(once I find a manual LHD driver base).
Hey brother It appears that you know very about the RX8 seats. I’m replacing the existing seats with RX8(‘04-‘08) out of my Mazda B2200 truck. I got carried away and removed the center bolts that are screwed onto the mechanism(worm-gear) which not supposed to til the part piece fell off when I was adjusting the seat. Been searching where exactly I need to place and bolt it but have no luck. If you do know your help is well appreciated. Thanks
Sorry for the late reply, didn't realize I must've turned off notifications. Yes, you can take them off, repaint them and reinstall. I did this to paint mine black because I didn't like the silver look.
So did your seats have the heated seat option? I have a set of leather versions with the seat heaters and I wanted to tear them down, but don't want to hurt the wiring. I was not sure if I missed that part or if yours did not come equip with the heater. Doing an install in my DelSol and need to repair part of the seat cover and was looking for tear down info. Thank you for all this info!
Sorry, but mine do not have the seat heaters. I actually wanted the base trim version. But I googled RX8 seat heater and it looks like it's just a pad that lies on top of the foam. You should be able to follow what I did but look out for the heater pad and it's electrical connections likely under the seat pan.
I did some searching as well after I found your vid. Seems since I got the seats the dead RX8 thread, I was following, came back to life when they found your video too. Lol. Someone finally chimed in about where the clips are. My particular seats are the hard back version. I guess I will follow your lead and do my own video of their tear down on the hard backs, as it has not been covered on UA-cam yet. Thank you for looking into the heater for me.
Im planning to get the same one that’s why im here, this seat do you think we can install this to honda civic fd 2009 without getting any warning lights
Anything can get installed with the right fabrication skills, you can check my other video on how I installed them in my Rx7. I'm not sure about any warning lights on that civic. You can do a quick test by unplugging the wiring harness of the stock seats and see what comes on. Might get an airbag warning light if the seats have airbags in the them.
I just bought a set of these exact seats is there any way I can make them sit flat to put in a Chevy truck the brackets are angled and I was trying to figure out a diy way to make the level
Not exactly sure of the problem you have to overcome, but I have another video of how I installed these seats in my RX7. Maybe the answer to your question is in there.
@@AlexFranceschi I got them in my 98 suburban and they are awsome? By chance can you help me figure out the power seat wires that’s all I need to hook up
Sorry I don't have the power seats so I don't know the wiring, but it's usually pretty straight forward. 12v power, ground, and maybe a wire tied to accessories power? You can usually find the factory service manual online with all the wiring diagrams from the RX8.
I have a question about the airbag... I just am maximum afraid of separating it from the cover. The airbag was off electricity for about 1,5 years but I am still shitting my pants. I can't describe how fascinating it is for me to watch you, how you easily handle it😂 What is the most safe way( unluck attracts me since day 1)to separate it?
Sorry for the super late reply. Same as you, these airbags haven't seen electricity for a long time. The risk of them going off accidentally is quite low, but if you do this, please do so at your own risk! These are designed to be assembled in the factory, which are probably handled with more force than I did. On top of that, when their shipped to the seat supplier for assembly, they see a lot of vibration during shipping. Knowing this...it's still nerve wrecking! lol
Bro thank you. Now I can put speakers inside my race sim Rx8 seat

Awesome! I make these videos for this exact purpose. Happy it was helpful for you, best of luck on your project and thanks for commenting!

Can you remove the rotor trim piece to spray paint it and then put it back on or do they not go back on once they’re off?

Do you know if these RX8 seats will fit in a 3 BK model? And would they be plug n play?

Only electric current can deploy it. You'll be safe.
To be safe, just make sure your face is away from it when taking it out.
Why ?
