- Today's episode I'm joined by Evan Hofer. Evan currently stars as "Dex Heller" on General Hospital, but he got his start in Disney series Kickin' It in 2011. He has appeared in other television series such as Modern Family, Lethal Weapon and Dwight in Shining Armor and he will star in the upcoming film Roll With It.

Evan is a breath of fresh air
Evan needed more time to talk about his accomplishments in his life. I mean no disrespect but I felt that Maurice was too much into himself for my comfort!
Dex is so handsome! I like watching him on GH. I love watching him in his role with Joslyn. You are doing great Dex! Evan
Evan's character has already evolved so much since he started on GH. Really glad that he did this interview, he's open and so vulnerable. Helpful to many.

My son was also bullied as a child. At 6, we brought him to a karate school. He because a 3rd degree black belt. No one tried to bully him again after they saw what he could do (he taught a couple of bullies lesson!). It is a very helpful thing. I am thankful that they taught him self-respect and self-esteem. Now he is a sensei himself and he is respected.

This is my first time watching State of Mind. I watched it because I am a huge fan of Evan/Dex. I really enjoyed the episode and I could really relate to the talk about how the pandemic increased people's anxiety. It definitely has for me and its something I fight with often. Evan I think you are a great actor and an awesome addition to General Hospital.
Maurice this was an outstanding state of mind .. Maurice you are a role model to young actors such as Evan,, so much to learn from you , I’m sure when you were his age you had a mentor .. Evan reminds me if my son who is his age . He is open to learning I hope GH gives him a contract .. stay focused Evan you are with the greatest Maurice 💕🙏💪

@@MBStateOfMind I am a big fan .. but most importantly we have our mental illness in common it’s been a rough ride .. I had a breakdown around the same age that you were .. today I’m 63 years old and no breakdowns but anxiety has kicked in after 40 years .. I’m staying strong 💕🙏

Evan is the total opposite of Dex. To me Dex comes off as a cocky sneak. I’m glad to have heard this conversation with you and Evan because obviously he’s acting as Dex but it’s great to know that he’s a a chill, funny individual.

It's an Augustinian concept to surround yourself by people that you think are better than you beacause they make you better, and I love this. It creates magic in our lives.
All these years I can’t believe he speaks Spanish his just so incredible because he has an English accent that is so powerful it overwhelms his background “Amazing”!!

I am anxious to see where they take Evan's character. And I'm still invested in seeing how your Sonny character evolves post Carly. I'm starting to think him ending up with Nina isn't as possible as it may have seemed, which could be interesting. Anxiety is such a challenging state of mind (pun intended 😁).
So many people suffer in silence with it because of the continued stigma. Anxiety and ego definitely don't mix well. For actors I can't even begin to imagine how hard dealing with it is.

Also want to add in regards to emotional health, that our bodies are our greatest communicators! We just need a class, need to learn how to interpret this language of the subconscious.

I so love that you are doing this, Maurice. It is so important to bring these illnesses to light so people know they are not alone. When I was young, I would have deep depression for years at a time and I remember describing it to someone else who felt they could not go on. I told them it was like being in a tunnel with no light and you just had to keep putting one foot in front of the other until you finally reached the light with no idea how long or how far you would have to go. Thank goodness I haven't had that for a number of years now. My brothers suffer from bi-polar though and it is no joke. It is frightening and isolating. People should never feel frightened and isolated for a medical condition. We have a long way to go to correct it and people like you are shining a light on it. Good job.

I loved "Dex, you're heller, hella, hella, hellay!" 🤣 I think Evan could definitely pull off the comedic leading man in a rom com. Josh Swickard just pulled it off in two Netflix movies! I pray for good luck and good opportunities for Evan Hofer in the future, but I hope he sticks around on General Hospital and becomes some GH character's love interest and comedic leading man!

I love what you said Maurice about being an actor on GH, i have always said that would be the best job, i know some stress comes with it but yes, i see you all at GH as my family and to get to work with you all would be amazing, but i have no experience what so ever 🤣 but that wouldn’t stop me from trying to audition 😆i was born in 1963 and GH was too ! It was my momma’s soap and it’s mine ❤
