The developer is an extremely skilled illustrator. The kind of effortless style that only other artists really notice.
Very interesting and creative storyline as well.
Not to mention they're so nice! Low standards for people I know, but the creator is genuinely friendly and interactive with their audience.
yes, the gestural approach to the work seems fluid and quick but tells of an extreme understanding of space, shape, mass and of their very purposeful hand. Not to mention the attention to line weight, it's really eye candy.
truly! when i get the cash i'll most definitely lend the money to the see the art book, its just an absolutely aweing game. i cant help to wonder what happened behind the scenes.
Wish i had the same capabilities as em.
The part 2 will be amazing! I hope you keep watching this, it's such an interesting watch.
I know this is an old comment but I completely agree! The chat is absolutely terrible! I don't know if he's filming this on twitch and then uploading it to youtube but it really seems like half the chat is troglodytes who are just like haha whale get alcohol from plants. 😂 What the heck is wrong with them? This is a fantastic work of sci-fi! I definitely hope he does part 2 and doesn't let the vocal low iQ people who didn't understand or like it keep him from reacting.
You missed a breakdown of the reason they used the term "seabun" which actually sheds some light into the world building
I really like this kind of storytelling. Told like a documentary, it really gave the sense of realness of the unreal creature. The art style was simple, yet it shows it’s mastery. The way the artist/artists portrayed the emotions of exhausted unborn whale and then shown it happy and oblivious, as well as the tiredness of his mother. It’s not easy to show animals emotions that well. I really liked the watercolor vibe of the womb. The way it shown pretty static moments with little changes in narration was sometimes creepy, cause these things were shown as normal. No shock, no weirdness, all like a emotionless documentary. I like the moment when the calf looked at the bird it was full of real nature, brutal but also pretty. That’s what I liked the most, the naturalism portrayed here. It wasn’t showing nature as innocent and cute, animals die, injures happen, survival of the fittest thrives it’s best. It was all present even if the animal was fictional. Thank u AVNJ and the person who asked for it for showing us this masterpiece!
I especially like the little hints at human society in this universe. Like...what do you mean cephlopods have been culled in the past? Why are you describing them as "possessed of a devious and cruel intelligence" that's a weird thing to say.
11:46 The calf is showing swift advancement that stone dog is showing swift distress. -Manlybadasshero
Film lighting technician here, the window could be fixed by using shears. They work as natural diffusion and look decent. Also, if you want the open window look, you could apply an ND filter to the window. It will darken the room, but the window will probably be balanced better
YESSS YESS SYESSSS AFTER 6 DAYS OF ASKING AND GETTING MY SUGGESTION SEEN, FINALLY YIPPPEEEE IM SO HAPPY LETS GOOOOOOOO
LFGGGGGGGG
Your acting like 6 days is a lot but good Job it takes 12 days for one upgrade in clash of clans
@@Dougles_prospecting The first vid I commented south scrimshaw on was the “Hatching Caviar” one from 4 weeks ago :P
I’ve been doing this on UA-cam which he doesn’t upload everyday, I count 1 vid as 1 day, but I might’ve missed a few too due too time zones😅
@@BowHooHoo 4 weeks is still not that much th 15 in clash of clans takes 6 weeks
I'm so glad you finally played this game and can't wait for more
How is this a game?
It's more of a visual novel really but i didn't know what else to call it at the time, and can't you just watch the video?
Hope to see a part 2! This visual novel is amazing and i love to see your reaction to such beautiful work!
What a coincidence that AVNJ uploads this on the day I first saw a whale solely from chance alone. And you can tell from the fact that he’s quiet for most of the video that he’s actually interested in the game.
Nobody who plays this game clicks on the white text. They’re missing so much. It’s actually infuriating
CANT WAIT FOR PART 2 of your reaction😄still like, 40-60 minutes of content... youll have fun... and not possibly cry...
In response to 5:12, many shark species do in fact lay eggs. They are colloquially known as mermaid's purses, as are the eggs of skates and rays
I absolutely adore the attention South Scrimshaw has been getting! I find the art style so charming, and the attention to world-building detail is downright glorious!
Keep the basically snow white skin tone it’s funny
It’s funny you say that because I heard that they are remaking the Snow White movie but shes black.
And of course there are much much worse changes to the story. but this one just holds more irony in the situation.
@@kaleblynn7105does it really matter? Also they were comparing him to the white color of snow, not the character.
@@demetriam2408 it doesn’t matter. I just thought it was ironically funny.
Also do you know this guy, how do you know he wasn’t talking about the character?
@@kaleblynn7105 capitalization matters
While the Ribbonsnaw might be made up, the Snorb is an actual animal in Australia
You really should check out the National Geographic episode dedicated to this fascinating mammal.
South Scrimshaw is so cool
It's really emotional!
I cant believe he didnt look at the sea bunny bit. this is the worst thing ever.
I played this game a while ago and absolutely loved it. It kinda reminds me of the Monument Mythos and the likes. I can't wait for the next part but the creator said it'll be awhile since it's only them doing the work. Even bought the art book they have up too because it's amazing and to help support them even if it's just by a little bit.
I really liked this visual novel and i was so exited when i saw you covering it!
I like how immediately stops pressing the white text after the first try 😂
13:44 Because whale milk really is like that.
Hi twitch!! It's nice to finally have you guys back ❤❤❤
Could you do a part 2? It gets so much better, you'll see Brillos with different kinds of gardens!
This was a wonderful experience. Thank you Mr. Fish biologist.
I’m glad you enjoyed it AVNJ! I was really nervous you’d find it boring🥲, it’s the type of thing that many may not enjoy unless they like stuff such as world building, sci-fi, art, or just watching documentaries in general. Personally, I’ve always loved nature documentaries, I’m also into art and all that so this was like hitting a jackpot for me. I really hope you play more! The next chapters are reeeeaaally interesting
I hope to see more of you playing! Its incredibly interesting
I have never heard of this until now. I'm in love lmao please if you do more of this share it.
I feel like "why would you add that" is a rather odd question in a game that pretty much is a watchable book. he adds it because it's details to the world he's built and to the story he's crafting. It may seem like an odd detail but we're learning about this "alien version of a whale" and it's told like a documentary so any detail about said creatures makes sense to tell.
I know like why is this kid even a scientist
Visual Novels are not games. Also play Bin Weevils Rewritten.
Anyone else get Studio Ghibli vibes from this game?
The day has finally come, yes. Let’s go AVNJ
I definitely recommend clicking the white text more, and using your mouse to scroll to prior pages (this isn't mentioned in the game, for some reason, I left a review on that.) The white text offers nearly whole new sections of content and its pretty interesting, some of the content even goes beyond just the ocean and even mentions humans and interspace travel.
I really hope more people respect this story, it was heart breaking seeing so many people in the chat say pretty rude or judgy things about this realistic fiction graphic novel. It truly is a very good game and provokes just the right responses from the audience. Honestly the only thing I didn't expect people to be weirded out by was the nursing? I feel like describing how thick nursing milk is from a water-habitant mother would be essential to telling the audience how the baby is able to nurse under the water AND tell us a more approximate fat content. People who make nursing weird gross me out, and are pretty much the same reason women cant nurse their children in public.
I've been waiting for this ever since I watched South Scrimshaw! YES!!!!
very disappointing you keep missing the white texts
I asked the creator of this if the lil whale had a name in universe or out of the story (got a response)
If i remember correctly the whale doesn't have a name as to keep it less human like BUT at one point it would have been Darwin and then later Charles i personally like to refer to them as Darwin now even if I know officially they don't have a name :D
I do think its a reference to Charles Darwin
The snorb is a snorb deal with it
I strongly agree
I love how fixated chat was on the snorb.
More more more more MORE MORE
I thought it was funny. How the fist biologist says sharks don't lay eggs when obviously is just a matter of which sharks lay eggs😂 just kidding of course. But yeah some sharks species do actually lay eggs only. Some though others give birth to live pups😊😊😊
I understand
I love this documentary it’s so beautiful ❤
SOOOOO EXCITED TO SEE YOU PLAY THIS ITS SO INTERESTING 😊❤️
I just Saw it on my ftp and was like "this looks cool, ill watch later"
But now i can watch it with people! :D
Gotta love when a thumbnail makes it appear as if they are amazed oss but then you actually watch the video and their real reaction to what it is they are watching/playing is as if they are at best…mildly bored! 😅it’s a special kind of slight clickbaitery really!
So basically it’s kinda like your going in expecting this 😱😃👍 reaction BUT what you get is more like this 🫤😮💨😑😏
Amazing 😅
Cant wait for part 2! Huzzah!
I was disappointed you didn't include some of the hammering in the UA-cam video.
Wait so we can just bully AVNJ into playing fish games we like now?
Deeeep....
The beginning qualifies as "horror" for some people? That's an extremely low bar.
Complaining about the lighting is my favorite part of each video. Please reverse the “fix”.
This is so gloop
I am sorry, but "They can breathe air? I thought there was a transition period". Of how long, and with what? Gills?!
"Judging by yadda yadda it seems this mother has recovered already from a similar injury."
"... it is likely this is her first born calf"
So you're sayin the Brillo whale get frea-keh yyeehh
I understand
I understand
8:37
Birb?
Not a birb :(
BIRB! :D
Hi Twitch. love this game/story
The plants growing in her skin is simultaneously very gross and very fascinating
I absolutely love this! It's such a creative and facinating story, speculative biology is so cool
I hope you play more of this.
I couldn't finish this video once cuz it was so boring but I feel like a zoomer so im trying again
okay, I need to see more of this
You can see it all on youtube, it is also free online (officially as well, the steam version is more for supporting the creator). I recommend, it, as Mr.Fish Bioliogist skipped a few things by missing hyper links from his rapid clicking.
I understand.
Can’t wait for part 2
be sure to click every bit of white text you see... trust me it will be VERY interesting
its a mnegalodondon😤😤
No it’s a mnosasararusus
@@GeckoTech_Engineer 🤣
5:25 this Is too funny 😂👌🏾
So this is an American Interavtive Graphic Novel
hi twitch
you should do a video revolving around fish in meme culture and trying to catch every species in the wild
I recently watched it on UA-cam. Honestly it was just like a documentary
This feels like somebody made a game out of an Invent-A-Fish submission
window made you look like you were transcending
0:45 [very ethereal noise] XD
Sounds like PvZ main theme or of an old school ps2 or nes game but sounded dope none the less.
Whenever AVNJ post that's when I always feel the best
Can't wait to see more of this
Part 2?? Please?? Would love to see your reaction to the rest of this masterpiece
hey this may interest you but they’re making a new meg movie
This is almost like reading a children's book written by Junji Ito.
That is a good metaphor.
you really should finish the rest of the game
Fear the Snorb.
Maybe silly, but this reminds me of the entire ecosystems that exist in the tops of giant, ancient trees in old growth forests ♡
yesssss finally
I was there for only the beginning but it was great either way. great to see twitch again, hi guys!!
I mean, birth IS body horror pretty much.
"Sharks dont..... lay eggs"
I fell asleep half way through
The narrators voice is pretty calming
@GeckoTech_Engineer yeah had to rewatch it three times
Hope we get a part 2
13:38 aren’t you a biologist?
2:51 What an immediate change.
Omg chat is back. Hi Twitch chaaaaat!
I watch this shit when I'm more baked than a cake.
But dude are YOU high?!?!
Talking about needing another towel when you can just hang the towel VERTICALLY and cover the window 😭😭😭😭 I felt like I just watched a kid try to put a circle into a rectangle hole 😭😭😭😂😂😂💀
part 2 im excited
Day 20 of asking avnj if he still streams on twitch
He does I think
Hi Mr fish guy person
I thought it was a story this is new
The soundtrack of this game is really relaxing/soothing! I wanna have it on loop!
You still on twitch?
Yes!!! I'm excited
How is yhis a game?
