Wow wee those guys were born to play that part? They were very great and very wonderful actors. Watching this TV show was like actually being there at that time of 1942. Today TV shows of making copies of war movies is phoonie and unrealistic.
In the scene where Tom's landing his fighter and crashes it not only has a Hellcat instead of a Wildcat but the actual pilot shown in that crash walked away with hardly a scratch. Yeah, Tom was shot up but it's definitely a tribute to the Grumman Iron Works.
They used a lot of gun camera footage, which makes it look more authentic to most eyes. Unfortunately when you learn about various aircraft models you realize a lot of the footage was taken from the European theater and almost all of it was recorded late war, after Midway was already history.
The thing about those old-school WWII movies is that many of the actors starring in them had been in the armed forces, in some cases in WWII. Glenn Ford, who played Admiral Ray Spruance, joined the Marine Corps Reserve early during WWII as an enlisted man, and later on in his career, was commissioned into the Naval Reserve as an officer. Ford retired in the 1970s as a full four-strip Navy Captain, the equivalent of a Marine or Army colonel. Many of the other stars of that era did the same - rushing to the colors to do their part in the war effort. We (the U.S.) were a different nation then.... so when Charles Bronson (USAAF enlisted man, B-29 tail-gunner wounded over Japan on a raid) or Lee Marvin (U.S. Marine wounded in the invasion of Saipan) acted like tough guys, they didn't have to act!
Great movie, though the one scene I can't not watch is when Tom Garth is getting burned up in the cockpit of his F4F.......anyone else get freaked out by that?
Midway was a bad choice as a target by the Ja Imp Navy; even they knew it. It could not be sustained by them even if they won; from water to rice to everything else had to be transported from Japan just for life support. Banzai for sure!
My grandfathers brother met Fuchida after the war and fuchida conceded that was the plan and that doing so would have led to a Japanese Stalingrad somewhere in the vicinity of Utah/Colorado the due to inability to keep the army fed and supplied
I love this song, i'll hear forever
When I hear this tune, I sometimes act like I am saluting the Navy, Army, Air Force, USMC, and many militaries that we are allies with.

This is the movie. Man's movie.
I think they recruited every star in Hollywood for this film.
Pat Morita👏👏👏
Charlton Heston, James Coburn. This movie had the line up!
Don't forget Henry Fonda who played Nimitz

Music by John Williams !!! (Star wars, Superman, etc)

Pat Morita, Mr Miyiagi was a Japanese officer in the film....
Yes. He played Rear Admiral Kusaka.
I cant believe I forgot Henry Fonda!
War never goes outta style.
Always a bully out there whose teeth need knocking out
When he refuses to stop pushin'
June 4, 1942 & June 6, 1944 & June 19, 1865 Give Me My Theme Music! (smile)
glory to the kido butai, and the usnavy!
nice music
When you show your opponent they can bleed…
The original here looks better than the 2019 remake whose CGI looks like a video game and not a film at all.
Joyce Koch it was actually rather good. I enjoyed it.
It was rather good but the original was shot with actual combat footage from the battle for the most part and feels more authentic

It wasn't bad, but they pratically forgot to invlude the F4Fs (and Vals) in the bunch, as the US Navy didn't had any fighter!
Read a great book, "The Battle of Midway" by Craig L. Symonds".
r.i.p. Isoroku Yamamoto you was a great Enemy duing the war
Henry Fonda, Charleton Heston, James Coburn, Hal Holbrook, Glenn Ford, and Robert Wagner certainly make handsome Navy men, don't they.

Still, nice clip...don't ever take it off!
could you send me the mp3?
fufel drany.
If we had won the battle of Midway, then we might have landed in California !
Glory to the Japanese Imperial Forces ! Banzai !!

mop09drg, Japan lost Midway for one reason. Japan was ruled by Tyrannical fools.
My grandfathers brother met Fuchida after the war and fuchida conceded that was the plan and that doing so would have led to a Japanese Stalingrad somewhere in the vicinity of Utah/Colorado the due to inability to keep the army fed and supplied
The only redeeming feature an otherwise terrible movie. Even the all star cast couldn't save this turkey.
As for the 2019 version, we'll see.
