  • Ranikot Fort, also known as the Great Wall of Sindh, is an ancient fortification located in the Kirthar Range, around 262 km away from karachi and 90 kilometers north of Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan. It's often referred to as the world's largest fort, covering an area of approximately 32 square kilometers. The fort's origins remain somewhat mysterious, with its construction attributed to various rulers and periods, possibly dating back over 2,500 years.
Ranikot massive walls, built with dressed sandstone and reinforced with round bastions, stretch for around 36 kilometers, encircling the entire fortification. Inside, there are several strategically positioned watchtowers, water reservoirs, and residential structures. While some believe it served as a defensive structure, others suggest it might have had multiple purposes, including a refuge during troubled times or a control point along trade routes.
Despite its historical significance and architectural marvel, the fort's exact origins and purposes still intrigue historians and archaeologists, adding an air of mystery and allure to this colossal structure.
