If you use your Credit Card the exchange is $ 80 pesos for each Dollar). Keep in mind that exchange rate change every day!

You might want to cater to a wider audience by searching for lower rent prices. Unless someone is working at a multinational or embassy in BA $3000 US is pretty steep. A person could rent in Paris, France for that kind of money. Most retirees and folks looking for a low-cost change of residency may not watch the entire video. That being said, I appreciated the part about the rental process.

Yes Recoleta does seem expensive for retirees, but credit to these two for at least giving us a smattering of what to offer. I have found some apartments to buy in this area which were reasonable priced on enbuenosaires, but of course if you're thinking of retiring to any city you have no previous knowledge of it's always best to familiarize yourself with the area first before making any definite commitment.

I just saw a very nice unfurnished apartment in a very nice neighborhood for around 19,000 Argentina pecos. Now that's about 300.00 US. But if you can pay the total cost in advance you will get an even better rate. Cash 💸 especially US dollars is king in Argentina 🇦🇷. These prices are outrageous for Argentina 🇦🇷. I lived in the Congresco neighborhood. It was convenient to everything you needed I was right off of the Argentina Congress building you don't have to spend anywhere near this amount of money in Argentina. But if you are wealthy these prices are ok.

I'm an older student that will be studying and teaching in Buenos Aires by summertime 2021 (Crossing fingers) and have been looking at long-term rentals there. I can get a 2bdrm apt in the downtown area for 700 a month for a year. To be fair, the title of the video just says "Searching for a rental", not "Searching for a very cheap rental!" I would have loved more info on the nightlife, the food, the dance clubs, the parks, the nearby attractions, etc...! What you discussed about the rental process and about the different areas was very helpful, as well as hidden details in the rental agreement. The Phone Bill Bit! Uh-Uh! No way would I have paid for someone else's phone bill. I would have asked him in Spanish where the cable was so that I could cut it before going into my apt! I digress! We in the US are now seeing rentals up in the $900usd range for a one or small 2 bdrm apt...unfurnished! People are renting rooms in their homes for 5-7 hundred a pop! And a majority of those tenants are college students!!! I will gladly pay less in Argentina for the 2-bdrm and furnished place any day. I heard that places out in the country are even cheaper, BUT, you have to have your own transportation to the city. A car, motorbike, or scooter. Public transportation for the outskirts of the city is improving. Pretty soon I will be following in someone's footsteps! Thanks for the information!

With 2000 usd a month you are literally considered upper class according to the INDEC (national institute of data and census). Of course it depends on your spending habits, but trust me, a whole family of 4 can live REALLY comfortably with that kind of money. And im talking about eating out regularly, living in nice neighborhoods, private schools, private healthcare, etc. Keep in mind that as for today’s exchange rate, 2000 usd are about 400,000 pesos. You can rent a full apartment for 100,000 pesos (a nice, well sized apartment in a middle class and safe neighborhood) or even less! And then you’ve got around 250k left for everything else. If you go eat out, you can expect to pay between 1000 and 1500 pesos per person in a restaurant (again it depends on how much you are planning on eating, how many drinks you get, the location of the restaurant, etc.) but overall you can find all kinds of price ranges around buenos aires, you can live luxuriously in Puerto Madero (an upscale neighborhood where only really wealthy people live, politicians, celebrities, businessman, etc) or you can have a way less expensive life in a middle class neighborhood like Caballito, which is full of families, schools, houses, shops, etc. I really suggest you to visit argentina and see for yourself the kind of lifestyle you are getting. Keep in mind Buenos Aires is kind of a “bubble” in argentina and all of Latin America too. The reality here is widely different from the one in the suburbs and the rest of provinces. Buenos Aires has historically been a privileged city in the country, with a thriving middle class population, and even with Argentina’s downs and ups, buenos aires has always remained a really good place to live, with a rather good government management, good and well kept infrastructure, amazing cultural life, the best schools (it has the best educational level in all of Latin America according to the latest international tests)

Good video, but I am shocked that your first piece of advice was not to get a lawyer to review the lease, particularly for those that are not fluent in Spanish. Unethical realtors and landlords abound, and you need to have someone who is going to protect your rights. This is especially true when you are talking about two-year leases.

If you rent an apartment that is worth 150,000 pesos a month, you would be paying 1000 dollars a month. Here everything is done outside the government due to the large number of controls we have. If you go to a "cave" you can exchange your dollars for pesos and not lose almost anything

They are using an exchange rate which literally nobody uses because it makes your dollars be worth less. So in reality you should divide by half all of these prices since that’s what you are actually going to pay for. You can rent a whole house for 1000 usd here, and for much less. If you stick to the nicer neighborhoods you can expect to be paying at least 300 usd for a full apartment, not very big, but big enough for 2 or 3 people (depending on the apartment)

Renting rooms in Argentina isn’t really a thing because studio apartments go for as low as 200 usd in nice middle class neighborhoods, so as you see renting a full apartment is more convenient
You may want to concentrate on apartments that don't cost so much for the regular people Argentina fishes like too much I can get that here in Texas so getting more to the common people
Kinda true haha, most argentines can’t afford these places. These apartments are on high end neighborhoods and are targeted for upper and upper middle class people. But in comparison is like saying most Americans are broke because they can’t afford to pay rent on the upper east side in NY, or in Miami Beach. Prices in the provinces and middle class neighborhoods are way more affordable and reasonable, just how rent in the midwest is way cheaper.

A normal 1 bedroom in Palermo costs 250 dollars a month, or even less. This video is about expensive (if not luxury) real estate.

Renting rooms in Argentina isn’t really a thing because studio apartments go for as low as 200 usd in nice middle class neighborhoods, so as you see renting a full apartment is more convenient
For 3 thousand per month I would rater live in Boston MA.
You may want to concentrate on apartments that don't cost so much for the regular people Argentina fishes like too much I can get that here in Texas so getting more to the common people

Kinda true haha, most argentines can’t afford these places. These apartments are on high end neighborhoods and are targeted for upper and upper middle class people. But in comparison is like saying most Americans are broke because they can’t afford to pay rent on the upper east side in NY, or in Miami Beach. Prices in the provinces and middle class neighborhoods are way more affordable and reasonable, just how rent in the midwest is way cheaper.
