This song was posted a month before my Dad drank & starved himself to death. I love & miss that man. He was so depressed and had so much anger internally & regrets. He hated so much because he hated himself & his mistakes. His innocence was taken away too soon from childhood abuse. Everytime I hear this, I feel every bit of his pain. Fly free Dad. You were never hated by me. & Disturbed was his favorite band. 💙 I play them everytime I visit his grave.

Some themes and messages are timeless and this is one of them.
"Land of Confusion" with its video and "The Vengeful One" are more relevant in today's world than this.

It's incredible how Disturbed and FFDP can put out these hardcore rock songs but the meaning of the lyrics are unbelievably deep. It's not just acid rock where the lead singer just screams unintelligible words to a hard beat. The songs these two groups put out are beyond words. "Save Our Last Goodbye" is another song that brings me to tears because of the meaning. This song is so awesome if you listen to the meaning of the song. I could (and do) listen to them all day, every day.

The whole Immortalized album was just an absolute MASTERPIECE. The Vengeful One, The Light, Who Taught You How To Hate, Eye of the Storm, What You Waiting For and, of course, the ultimate cover of Sound of Silence.
This is all the music that demands to be blasted at high volume as transcendent life anthems.
Evolution was it's own masterpiece also. More mature but still badass as hell. Uninvited guest is one of the best lyrical performances David has done.
I put the entire discography from first to last, on every single night at work for last 3 years or so, and it never gets old. I can't even say that about METALLICA whom I am and always have been obsessed with. Lol
They clearly saw the future when they decided to write this album.
Disturbed have made some awesome albums over the years but I keep going back to Immortalized......as you say it was a flippin masterpiece

It can be played from beginning to end and the listener can just put it on and feel it without having to skip songs 2. 100 people say their top two or three songs and one of those is shared by another but the other one or two are different. That means that the music is speaking volumes connecting one two three 100 people together by a cd. One of my fav cds ever.

A lot of truth to these lyrics. Especially in the work place I used to just kind of ignore my surroundings ignore what others did. Then someone said something to me that left a seed of doubt that eventually became a lot of anger and outrage after awhile I began questioning myself this isn't me I am not usually this upset what happened why am I so filled with anger.
They asked how I can do so much work and ignore all the drama going on around me. People would hide and not do they're even share the task assigned to them I was usually covering because why not it needed done. People would talk smack about each other as well as me some of it was caused by false rumors spread by ill intentioned individuals.
It turned into a situation where I began actively calling people out defending others from false rumors and pointing out faults. It went overboard I have of course calmed down once again and try to just mind my own business as I always have. It is not good for ones health and it only creates enemies. Be careful what you say to others because sometimes the most innocent comment and cause a lot of damage. The person who made this innocent comment was none other than one of the supervisors who was of course a devote christian. I am not.
Best song on the album hands down. The lyrics are pure truth and the verses and chorus flow so well.

I can't believe this is the first time I've heard this song from Disturbed. I've been a fan of them for a very long time and have always loved them no matter what, but this song is something else, in a good way. It's crazy how true this song is, especially for me. Other people treating me like shit in the past had caused me to become cynical and my distrust of other people turned into hatred. It got to the point where I began to only associate with people who shared those toxic views and I burned bridges with good people over stupid shit, when it turned out that the cynical people I associated with were the ones I needed to stay away from.
There once was a time when I wasn't so hateful and I've been trying to get back to that point, but it's so easy to slide back into the darkness. It's easy to figure out *who* taught me how to hate, since I realize that person is me. I may never be able to fix the friendships I ruined, but perhaps I can avoid doing the same with future ones. I can still be cautious, but if I go into them expecting everyone to stab me in the back, it will fail every time because I will be the one who ends up hurting them and repeating the cycle all over again.

Their new album "Evolution" should have been filled with song like this, and should have continued the path of "Immortalised".
Over the years I've found myself hating more and more. It's been a slow but gradual change, and I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to how I was before. There are a few things that help hold it back though, songs like this being one.

This album is awesome. Every song has a distinctive melody i really like that in metal songs. Few bands can accomplish that in one album.
Hate is an honest emotion; living one life on a planet that everyone else's minds work based on 1 thought "EVERYTHING'S ABOUT ME; OUT OF REALITY!" creating a mental level of dopamine that causes a heart attack.

Actually it's not about that though you may dedicate it to them. It's ironically for people like you and the people singling out others and cyber bullying them for not supporting or strongly disliking what you believe to be okay.
Come to think of it, the song can also be about gossip and taking it as facts.
@@Avarice297 Okay, you can exactly tell them "actually no it's not" because they aren't wrong. There is really no "real" meaning in music since everyone takes their own meanings from it.
Also saying "it's ironically for people like you"...they absolutely did nothing...nothing at all for you to make that statement. All they did was state what they gleamed/gleaned from the song. So that was a bit unnecessary...I mean to him it can be about that and to me I think of the song in the same way.
The song can mean so many different things to each individual, like for me I feel like it's about the hate in the world (just like he said), bullying, and it also makes me think of Connor (as well as the other androids) in Detroit: Become Human. Is that necessarily what the song is about, most likely not lol, but that's what I think, especially when the line "WhErE's ThE dEvIaNt?!?" is said XD.

Nobody is born hating. Not even Hitler was born hating. He, and everyone else, was taught to hate, either by other people directly, indirectly, or by life experiences.
