    i would have loved it if at some point during the peace negotiations somehow the courier with Benor's inheritance came barging in, ignoring the tense political debate, handing over the gold then naffing off without a word just because you killed him to not have groaning in the background.

    Paarthurnax seems like the dora the explorer of the elder scrolls series. He constantly repeats in english what he previously said in dragon language, like he's trying to teach you that language one basic word at a time.

    And so marks the end of the hero and his story as he turns to ash beside the villain who had sent him to his grave, broght him back from death to be used as a puppet before she realized her wrong doing and accepted her final mistake of the past before turining him to ash so that it may never be repeated again and move on to do good.

    I never really thought about it, but aren't the Thalmor hunting the remnants of the Blades? You know, the two people sitting right on the other side of Arngeir in Blade uniforms? You'd think the Thalmor agent there would have something to say about that.

      true to her word, she was only there to make sure they didn't violate the concordat, and on an individual basis probably realised they were the only people besides the Greybeards that knew anything about how to defeat Alduin.

    That was quite sad actually. It had gotten to the point were I thought Benor had overstayed his welcome, but seeing that I kind of hate to see him go actually. It's funny how that works. Jon made Benor into a real fleshed out character that the game itself never could. So I'm glad he had a good send off, he deserved it. R.I.P Benor, gone but not forgotten.

    Best comment by Jon:
    "Ulfric…you know what he gets up to in his own time when he’s not Jarling. That’s his business. If he wants to keep, you know a personal guard, just waiting in his chambers and also if he wants to get visited by a guy who’s name is…um…l-l-lets just move on! Lets just move on!"

    From would-be guard to a man who found the fast way down mountains. From husband to thrall.
    Farewell Benor. May you rest in Sovngarde with the great heroes: waiting for your love to reunite with you in the afterlife.
    Or she may become a vampire again. We don't know with Jon. But maybe, that's the reason they fell in love; the unpredictable and unique times that they had.

    "Specialize in meddling in matters they barely understand..." As a former member of the Vvardenfell branch of the Blades, I assure you we have no clue what we're doing. Our own leader was recalled and our orders were, "keep on keeping on" and that's how we liked it! (huffs) 'Barely understand what we're doing...' I'll have you know that one of our members destroyed the heart of the true 9th divine, Lorkhan, using the same tools that were responsible for the disappearance of the Dwarves! So screw off Arngeir, if that IS your real name!

      yeah, its pretty easy to pit two forces against one another when you take an extremely strong willed and powerful man and intentionally align the Empire with the person he holds responsible for the most horrific experience he has ever had, and also force the Empire to betray him on multiple occasions.

    Bennor gets murdered at the slum you decided was worth Trading Markarth for. You even execute him prior to negotiations so he doesn't have to hear the treachery of his Deathbed.
    Then you execute him in Riften ontop of your Balcony!
    I truly believe that the "accident" that befell you on your wedding night was a severe premonition of how seriously flawed the relationship was.
    Bennor was better of with his Wife being Murdered outside the Tavern that he consumed the marriage prior to comital. BUT that will forever be an alternate universe.

    Plot twist: Jon's Illusion magic was so powerful that he managed to convince the entire police force of Windhelm to think many many years had gone by when actually it was only 8 days. that's why the guard afterwards was so impressed it's not because you managed to fool the entire town guard but he thinks you cast an illusion on yourself to look like not a day had gone by.

    I think the problem Ulfric has is that winterhold borders on Ulfrics capital hold windhelm and that makes it very easy for the empire to launch an attack on windhelm winterhold may not be rich but strategy wise it's a great hold.

  • @ncr_ranger96
    @ncr_ranger96 7 років тому +15

    I think the Empire got the better deal because the Stormcloaks have no hope of actually holding Markarth as it is in the middle of Imperial territory. Meanwhile, Winterhold, as stated, is good place to hit Ulfric's supply lines from.

      Markarth IS well fortified though, the walls are huge and the defences extensive, whereas Ulfric could send a boat over from Windhelm a catapault parked up by the shrine of Azura and probably raze Winterhold to the ground in 20 minutes flat.

    • @vladildikan
      @vladildikan Рік тому

      Don't forget the forsworn rebels. Even without imperial attacks, the stormcloaks can't hold it. Ulfric should have asked for something else, but he wanted that symbolic victory damnit.

    I wish one of these RPG's would let you join a faction but _only_ if you prove yourself worthy and competent to their ideals.
    As in, not just "Go find me a thing then we'll make you our leader"
    I'm talking doing a few lessons, learning some history of the faction, being quizzed on it and having to get it right, doing the correct military salute etc etc
    It'd be cool to feel like a *part* of these factions rather than just some random dude who found a few trinkets and has since been handed the crown jewels because why not.
    This would in turn make it harder to be an everyman because you'd have to know each factions lore, if you start messing crap up they'll suspect you're not committed...or are committed elsewhere.
    Which would make obligatory spy infiltrations much more exciting because it wouldn't just be "You 100% trust me remember, I killed like 4 wolves how could I possibly not have access to all your secrets"
    It'd be nice to have to get indoctrinated in to factions in reasonable ways, would be easier to care about and understand them. For all the times I've played Skyrim I've never cared about either side there's just "The racist shortsighted ones" and "The not racist ones that are bossed around by elves but hoping to revolt some day"

    Jon, Markarth may be rich but it's got some problems.
    1. It's a long way from Stormcloak territory
    2. It's full of rebellious murderhobos called the Forsworn.
    3. The Silverblood family own the guards and all the money flowing through Markarth, and they favor the Empire if I remember correctly.
    Ulfric probably only asked for Markarth because they betrayed him after he helped them drive out the reachmen, but it was a terrible ask since he can't possibly hold it.
    Meanwhile, winterhold is CLOSE to windhelm, a direct and constant threat that can easily be resupplied by sea. Plus, the college could provide useful services for people who don't hold magic as taboo against the wold like the stormcloaks seem to think.

    Fun fact: Elder Scrolls games don't seem to track the actual year, so Jon could well have spent multiple years + 8 days in jug and you'd only be able to tell exactly how long from the stats screen ;)
    My current character in Morrowind will probably experience the Oblivion Crisis before she gets round to finishing Morrowind's main quest, at the rate i'm timewasting :P

    there is a mod I think for special edition that brings all the dead people u killed or was killed by someone or something to Sovngarde would be an epic reunion with Benor when u go there to fight Alduin

    • @TGCommander

      That would have been amazing. However that would've required Jon downloading and installing the mod before killing Benor.

    The implications about Ulfric and Galmar, especially the hinting at Galmar's name, were bloody hilarious, and later the bit with Balgruuf as well. Aside from that, the reason for Odahviing to show up when he's called isn't so much name magic, more like shouting a challenge, and Odahviing being headstrong and proud interests him enough to show up, especially since it's the Dragonborn who just handed Alduin his ass calling him.

    You know Jon I'm still not convinced his corpse was still there after you killed benor the first time, but the story you created between your character and benor was great fun to watch for I don't know 70 or so parts. Sad this series is winding down. Been here sense part 1 and loved every minute. Thank you sir, can't wait till the next episode.

    Markarth for Winterhold wasn't that bad of a deal for the Imperials. It puts them at a good advantage. There are other ways to travel around Markarth, and now the Stormcloaks have to deal with the Forsworn problems (and the hagravens that come with them), but Winterhold puts the Imperials dead center of all the trade routes the Stormcloaks have to take, and gives them influence over the college to lead the students towards an Imperial world view. Essentially, they could surround Ulfric with their main army, branch out their less powerful forces from other holds to take back Markarth, as well as gain Riften, and still have men in reserve in case any plans go awry. If Winterhold gets invaded by the Stormcloaks, logically the college will defend it and buy enough time for reinforcements to arrive. Taking back Riften would mean having to deal with Maven (I really don't like her...) which will cost more gold than the Imperials are probably wanting to dish, and the Theif's Guild is there, but.... Yeah, not exactly a militia that may be willing to help. Tactically, this choice was a great decision, so it's understandable that Ulfric's bitter over it and Tullius is thrilled.

    • @vladildikan
      @vladildikan Рік тому +1

      Not to mention the thieves guild, working for maven could EASILY sabotage Stormcloak supply lines.

    I usually get over emotional when it comes to the companions. I'm very afraid they will die at some point so I usually don't travel with them. When I stumble upon a companion I always let them go as so fast I can. If it's a mission companion eg. Serana, after the mission is done I just walk with them to their home and make sure they are 100% safe.
    It just breaks my heart when they say stuff like "oh, well then, you don't need me anymore, I'll be waiting for you, don't worry".
    *now imagine what this ending did to my soft squishy heart*
