Welcome to this guide - wotlk was the best expansion ever in wow’s history
Going through how racials changed from tbc to wotlk, race by race, and then I’ll help you decide which race to pick based which racials are best for each given class in both PvE and PvP!
Orc
Axe specialization now applies to fist weapons too
Blood fury still helps any class- spell power, melee and ranged attack power all increased. And the BIG CHANGE here is that there is no healing debuff that comes along with it. Amazing buff.
Hardiness didn’t change at all.
Command now applies to ALL pets - so if you’re DK your ghoul, your army of the dead etc. Any pets for any class.
Undead
Will of the forsaken now only removes fear charm and sleep - it does not grant immunity for 5 seconds. And it now shares a cd with other similar effects AKA PvP trinket. So this is a pretty sizable nerf. Still a great racial though.
Cannibalize is unchanged.
Shadow Resistance now reduces the chance you will be hit by shadow spells by 2% instead of granting 10 resistance. Is this a buff or a nerf? Well Resistance is calculated in a binary and non-binary way in WoW. Binary is 0 or 1 - does the spell hit and do damage, or does it get resisted entirely? Then the second calculation, the non-binary calculation in TBC is does the spell do 25% 50% or 75% reduced damage? In WotLK it’s increments of 10% instead of 25%. So, I would say this is a buff. Because now you can still max out your resistances, but you also now have a racial that helps with the binary portion of the resistance calculation, that is - does the spell hit.
Underwater breathing was nerfed slightly, the duration that undead can breathe underwater has been shortened in WotLK.
Tauren
War Stomp is exactly the same
Cultivation is exactly the same
Endurance has changed and is now Base Health increased by 5%. This is a nerf overall.
Nature Resistance now reduces the chance you will be hit by nature spells by 2% instead of granting 10 resistance. I’d consider this a buff - see the undead section on Shadow Resistance for the long version of this answer.
Trolls
Regeneration is the same
Beast Slaying is the same
Berserking always will give 20% increased attack and casting, rather than a range from 10-30% based on how low health you are. I consider this a buff for PvE DPS not usually getting low health, and potentially a nerf for pro gamers who are amazing at using this at the right time and plan for it.
Bow and Throwing Specialization are both the same.
A NEW PASSIVE was added in WotLK called Da Voodoo Shuffle, reducing the duration of all movement impairing effects by 15%. Very nice!
Blood Elves
The big one here is mana tap is gone. This is I would say is a nerf because you could steal mana with it. It also was used as an extra buff to protect your other buffs from being dispelled in a PvP scenario.
Arcane torrent now gives back a percent of mana, very nice, still does the aoe silence and is the same for the most part, but since it now scales I would say this is a buff.
Arcane affinity is exactly the same.
And magic resistance is buffed which is amazing - now gives 2% reduces chance to be hit by spells same as Nature and Shadow resist for Tauren and undead respectively.
Priest Racials going away/being reworked:
some of the racials are being reworked.
- Desperate Prayer - This is now the 11-point talent in Holy, Holy Nova is now a base ability. Cooldown also reduced to 30 seconds.
- Devouring Plague - Now a base ability. Cooldown reduced to 30 seconds, mana cost greatly reduced.
- Symbol of Hope - Now a base ability. Now restores 5% base mana every 2 seconds for 8 seconds to your party. Renamed “Hymn of Hope.”

I generaly agree with your takes, but belf aoe silence is I think best racial for tanks, since you can interupt every mob that is in your proxymity. And can be really good in pvp as well. Keep up the good work mate, love your videos

I'd have to say Blood dk tank orc is good, because of axe spec. Extra expertise is good, better than the other bonuses. Berserking doesn't help with tanking, because you spam icy touch for Aggro, and it scales with attack power, not haste. Blood Elves however have the racial, known as "Proper Posture". Also Arcane Torrent is nice cc against casters, but that's better on a Paladin imho.
Bit of a side topic but was tank threat even really much of an issue in wrath? From what i remember it was not near as bad as vanilla and tbc

I like trolls. I do remember loving my Troll Hunter specifically in Wotlk.
Da voodoo shuffle is huge for kiting death knights. And there will be a lot of death knights.

I know they have a racial but can I use swords on my Orc Deathknight?
I think for Classic I will go Unholy Orc, the reason being a little talent called "On a Pale Horse" that (among other things) reduce stun duration by 20%, which stacks with Hardiness, meaning you get a total of 35% reduction to stun duration!
I figure that the troll racial isn't as worth it, since it is only for movement impairing effects, not stuns.
Does it stack with the meta gem that add +10% stun resistance?
Orc racial HARDINESS change with wotlk : "the duration of stun effects reduced by an additional 15%"

Thought Tauren would be more powerful to dk with the stun, might be wrong though also endurance is nerfed so theres that. But the nerf that you missed on Hardiness is big, makes me consider Troll instead of orc cause of it.
I think u underrate Belf silence in pvp for rogues. P sure a lot of ppl on private wotlk servers that play pvp go belf, if they play rogue for example. I mean that undead racial is rly good but it shares cd with ur trinket but as a belf u have an extra silence and u have a trinket anyways.
I love blood elf not too sure if I should do a mage or warlock or priest for PVP
why does every guide leave out the paladin class ?
Troll berserking often out-scales Orc SP/AP racial. As you get better gear you will often have more value from haste but the SP/AP is static throughout the expansion. Often Orcs are better early expansion and Trolls are better later in the expansion.

ORC racials:
Increased melee attack power and spell power for 15 sec. (very good in PVP)
ORC racial passives:
Expertise with Fist Weapons, Axes and Two-Handed Axes increased (useless in PVP),
Damage dealt by pets increased by 5% (Must have if you running BM hunter/Enha sham),
Duration of Stun effects reduced by an additional 15% (Very good in PVP).
Troll racials:
Increased attack and casting speed by 20% for 10 sec. (very good in PVP)
Troll racial passives:
Damage dealt vs Beasts increased by 5% (useless in PVP),
Chance to critically hit with Bows is increased by 1% (very good for hunter),
Reduces the duration of all movement impairing effects by 15% (Ok, not very useful in PVP, good for rogues vs mages maybe),
HP regen increased by 10% (useless in PVP)
Critical hit chance with Throwing Weapons increased by 1%. (useless, OK for rogues, wars I guess)
-As a shaman you have a Ghost Wolf (increased movement speed by 40% + chance to absorb slows) which makes trolls racial for slow reducs less useful.
-Increased attack and casting speed is actually pretty good, but in compare to orcs AP/SP bonus + shams instant spellcasts (shocks, purges, elemental mastery, etc...)
-Bloodlust spell makes trolls speed bonus less useful.
-Orcs stun reduc is actually more useful than it seems (it gets annoying for stun classes).
If you compare all pros vs cons of orc and troll sham. You end up with orc to be a superior. It MAYBE a bit debatable with Ele/Resto specs, but its 1000% orc when it comes to Enha.
I cant wait for WRATH but I am not looking forward to more videos of people complaining about the WRATH boost that we all know will be added.

I‘m almost done with my 3rd level 70 char. I don’t think that the boost has that much of an impact.

@@xanakify I'd say the upside is huge. I wouldnt have come back and played a shaman in tbc. That's what my 60 was but I boosted a druid and love boomkin in tbc so I came back. Boost bring people into the game who don't wanna start all over but wanna play another class

Throwing it out there: Blood elf DK's have about 3-4 interrupt/silence effects. That coupled with anti-magic shield makes them the best mage hunters

you rated UD and BElf barely under Orc but with Command/Blood Fury it puts them a solid bit above the other racials. You also rated BElf under UD but with Arcane Torrent not on the GCD its like they can double life tap. Though honestly pick the race you enjoy > other racials

Isn't the Tauren HP bonus like 60hp in wotlk? Thats really insignificant for wotlk hp values. Rated too high imo if it is only 60hp.

Maybe you can answer this: Why did the take away Will of the Forsaken's "immunity to loss of control for five seconds" ?
To make it less powerful. Undead has been the #1 best pvp race because of this racial up until this nerf. It was literally the highest represented race in all top teams back in the day. Even after the nerf undead was still top, until every man for himself was added.

The healing reduction in Blood Furry wasn't purely downside. It could be used to remove wound poison.
Why are there videos popping up about this? Is wotlk classic actually coming soon?
I've seen a lot of creators making wotlk stuff. Maybe they know something we don't, or tbc isnt bringing the clicks. I get it though, because I am not hyped about phase 3 and more 25 mans.

If you play an orc rogue over a troll you're not playing the optimal pve race. Berserking is is like a second slice and dice on a 3 minute CD. Stack in with your CD macros

@@Toyhouze Nah, horde racials won't have an affect on pvp outcome nearly at all--unlike alliance. Be what you like, and let your skill shine.
What about paladin and druid? Answer pls! This is serious.
The only race you can play as paladin is blood elf, and the only race you can play as druid is tauren, so you have no choice.

Paladin is a solid choice since they can only be blood elves :)

Troll is better than orc in pve pretty much across the board after the first tier.
blood elf is bis pvp rogue. edit - rogue is also arguably best for rogue pve. better for assassination
Almost sure Orc racial Hardiness in wotlk now reduces Duration of Stuns by 15% rather than 15% chance of resist. Blizzard trying to remove all those rng
I think the main reason why orc is now bis for rogue wasn't fully touched upon, as the sword spec talent in combat now includes axes as well
I also think you give troll mage way too much credit in pvp over blood elf; it is true that berserking and DVS are great, but I think arcane torrent deserves far more credit as with how often mages need to be in close for things like going around a pillar and being in close to hit things like frost novas and cone of cold, as well as the advent of DKs coming in and holy/ret paladins being better than ever that arcane torrent just becomes a much more useful ability in pvp than it ever has been. I also kinda think belf warlock is more on level with undead warlock due to the wotf nerfs and magic resistance being what it is now since that also applies to DKs, mages, priests and paladins

Sorry for the dislike, appreciate the effort. Just found that the rogue PvP info that I came for was a bit washy. Bane of casters why? A lot of statements as to what you think but not a lot to back it up. Thx again for content
Undead rogue is trash in wotlk PVP. Belf / orc is much better.
The undead racial has almost no use what so ever. Almost all rogue arena combs include a friendly dispel ability and since all fear effects are magic effects (except wars) + since there is a 45 sec CD on either trinker or racial after you use one or the other, its not really that great. - 2 % hit by shadow dmg is OK, but not that big of deal.
On the other hand orcs racial + stun reduc passive is really great in almost all situations. Since rogue is a setup-burst class, the dmg buff can be really helpful in combinations w shadowdance, etc. I believe stun reduc speaks for it self, but just a quick example, orc rogue can never be stun(kidneyshot/hoj)-sapped and thats pretty OP.
Belfs racial ability is awesome too, silence + 15 energy gain is really powerful ability. Not to mention it kicks other classes out of stealth when hit I believe. - 2 % hit by spells is OK too I guess.
In wotlk the orc stun reduc is so good?? Cuz in tbc they nerfed it…
@@Texas_Sel deppends on a comb you play but in general its really good, especially vs other rogues. + as i have mentioned, racial dmg boost is very good too.

Yes!!! Undead rogue is just not that great on wotlk!!! Passives are not great/ok and racial is just not very useful at all. There are situations where it might get situational w undead, but orc is just 100% better in all situations.

He tied troll and orc for war when troll is the slightly better choice only on full bis gear. Before that orc all the way.
For rog he put orc over troll, if anything they should be matched or troll should be over orc casue troll racial is better and it lines up with ur big cds, 5% exp on axes/fists comes handy at early tiers.
For dks he matched troll with orc. According to smis it jsut isnt true at any point of the game.
For dk tank he put troll on top. That's just trolling. Orc'c 5% expertise is huge for tanking to match hard cap 2nd best is blood elf for 2% spell dmg reduc.
War tank(xd) same thing as with dk.

How would you compare troll to orc DK in PVE? I see many people opt for UH troll for snapshotting huge haste in phase 1 right now. I wonder how does it translate into later phases? Will you be hitting haste cap in later stages of the game and orc might be more worth? Also does frost become stronger later therefore worth changing spec, and is Orc or Troll better for frost? I would like to know this as to I am unsure which race to pick.

Giving 10/10 to Trolls and Orcs numerous times, yet you personally claim the advantage goes to orcs most frequently.. just give troll 9/10, id respect that verdict more :)
Also i find it odd you give orcs dk tank the lowest score. Bloodfury is sick extra threat cd.
5 expertise is worth more threat than any other talent. It's worth 150 expertise rating at 80, which is pretty crazy good threat stat, twice as good as hit when attacking from the front.

Just let WoW live in TBC… it should have only been progression to TBC from the start with a few Classic only realms for the absolute purists. The game gets convoluted in Wrath and much of the aspects of the game there were balanced in TBC become unbalanced in Wrath.
