When you get to the end of Gambgee road you go through the gates then that takes you to the gate at mylet. You can stay off the highway.
I say no to the spiders! Looks like a nice ride. Woodford night markets are awesome. The most crazy spiders I have ever encountered are in the heritage trail top section at Governors Chair. Literally a full on track that you can’t even attempt to go through at times. Literally thousands of webs as far as the eye can see, and always the ticks 😅 Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I know the Governors Chair area at Main Range... not to mention the snakes I encountered there when going up to Spicers Peak. It's wild there...
@ sure is wild.
Nice Scenery, Cool Tank. The Cold Weather Here Has Stopped Me From Riding My Bike. I hate Spiders, I Run Thru Webs All The Time On My Adventures.
Thanks Bat.... hopefully the weather warms up again for you soon!
Wow, at the end where the trail "disappeared" and you described it as "Cray Cray", I was sure it was time to Pray Pray! Even the loose sketchy descent was "character building"! 😂
Yeah, I think I was praying a lot at that point... lol!
The people have spoken...We want more of the BVRT with bonus under-bridge hobbo footage 😆😆 Does that "adventure track" towards the end look like it could be accessed by the public as a 4WD track ?
Hobo action coming up, lol! I reckon that track could be accessed by 4WD, but man she's rough. I've only shown a tiny fraction of the overgrowth!
I did the BVRT in October 2023 when it was mid 40 degrees. Would love to do it again in spring. I would love to see more of your adventure on the BVRT.
That's hot temps! I'll work on that BVRT video for sure🙌
My backyard. Hubby and I frequently ride the trail, first on horses and these days on our ebikes. Rail line was operational to Woodford up till 1963 and was then decommissioned.Railway ran to Wamuran till the mid 80's as that's where the trains from Golden Circle stopped for the local pineapple farms loaded their produce for the cannery. There is currently plans to extend and develop the Railtrail from Wamuran to Woodford and is in the early stages atm. Our local Councillor, Tony Latter is on board for this exciting time and hopefully, it won't be too far off to completion. The side trails are excellent to follow as well.
P.s. .....unfortunately the trail on the Wamuran to D'Aguilar is in need of a bit of tlc,but the weather hasn't been cooperating. If you cross to McLeod lane when you get to D'Aguilar Highway there's a small trail to the right that gets you off the highway
That's a great piece of local history, thanks for sharing! I just saw on the maps the small trail to the right on McLeod lane you mentioned.... I must have been babbling so much I missed it at the time. Thanks!
Loved the bush sections you rode through, those cuttings are great! I haven't watched your BVRT vid, so i'll get to it - I've ridden Toogoolawah to Linville & back but didn't rate it too highly, I should cycle other sections that might be better.
Great ride mate. Definitely keen to see an extended version of your BVRT video. That was the vid that inspired me to go and ride it (and I'm not really a cyclist)👍 Hoping to do the Kilkivan to Kingaroy one next month. 😎
Great... Sounds like the BVRT is a go then👍
Wow, heck of a ride. Pretty hairy through the long grass. Beautiful countryside. Great ride ! Yes please. An edit of your bvrt rides. I found the bvrt 2 years ago walking about Yarraman 👍Had no idea how popular it is. Thankyou.
Yes to a long form BVRT vid! It’s on my to do list this year (likely in June hopefully). All the logistics and some more info if not wanting to complete the whole thing in 2 days ie is there camp grounds or accommodation to break it up a bit more. I would be driving down from Mackay.
You'll love the BVRT! Lots of camping and accommodation options all along the route. Here's a brief run down if you haven't seen it yet...ua-cam.com/video/6DO8T4eT08w/v-deo.html
Good long video John😊
Good video again and funny commentary at times, good job.
Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Really enjoyed you going over your bike, gadgets and accessories at the start, appreciate that, and I strongly vote for you to do the BVRT again and split it up into 3 videos of each day's ride and all the possible information and details you can give us, it's one I'm hoping to do this year and you doing a video on it will be very inspiring for me 🙏
Looks like a full BVRT video will be coming up :)
Great video and thank you again, John! Yes, please for more BVRT footage too! Blessings!
Thanks David.... yes, I'll put together something. 😊
Put together a full video mate of the whole trail for sure....maybe a mini series??ur preparation for the trip like what u took etc the stops along the way....where u stopped and slept etc etc etc 👌I'm keen as 2 do the rail trail but a family and work of course makes it hard 2 find the time 2 go....maybe ill start out doin certain sections of it at a time.......See if u can drum up enough interest here and organise a group ride maybe??
Sounds like there is enough interest, so yeah, I'll see what I can come up with. :)
Hey John I'm at work I'll give you a Thumbs Up now & watch when I get time ... Can't wait especially seeing it's in my Territory! 👍😎🤘
Awesome! I hope you enjoyed it when you got a chance to watch.
@@jelbuilderfilms Cheers mate 👍
Another great video, good job. I haven't been up that way for a while, it sure has been let go which is a shame. It has got me intrigued though and I think I'll head up in the next few days as I haven't ridden all the way to Woodford.
Pissed myself laughing at your ride through the "gnarly" section. I won't be giving that a go!
Going to Woodford... def worth the ride. You'll love it... you won't love the adventure mountain track though 😆
@@jelbuilderfilms Yeah, nah. Ill give that track a miss. I've had a quick look at the route and its actually quite easy to get to Woodford without riding on that highway. I use the Strava heat maps to see where others have ridden, plenty of off highway routes.
Great video John, I need to get a bike to get out there and get amongst it 😉
You'd love it, Ben! This one was great.
Hey John, more of the BVRT would be great! I enjoyed your adventure you did last time. Have you ever checked out the short Dularcha railway tunnel trail between Mooloolah and Landsborough. The line was realigned and an old tunnel section was cut off. Gizmo revisited the trail a few weeks ago. Enjoyed “The Leap” hike you did north of Mackay. Keep up the good work when can and yes, family does come first. I suffer badly from Plantar Fasciitis in my right foot and it’s killing me at the moment. So look after yourself and don’t over do it….
Thanks Brian! Just looking at that Dularcha Tunnel and route now.... didn't know about it. Just checked Gizmo's video - it's def worth a visit! Yes, trying to look after myself better these days.
Love your vlogs. Keep them up 👍
It looks so green, Nice country up there for sure.
That trail runs right behind the Bracalba Quarries.
The trail crosses the Bracalba Fault just north of Bracalba. Somewhere on Myrtle St.
Great ride mate..
Everything about it was nice.... except the spiders, lol. :)
Great video mate. Have you tried the Murgon to Kingaroy trail? Great rural trail, actually has a section to Kilkivan but that part is difficult to ride due to flood damage at present. Makes a good weekend and stay in Kingaroy?
Thanks.... no I haven't yet, I'm hoping to do the Kilkivan to Yarraman stretch this year (maybe stopping at the BaconFest at Kingaroy if I time it right, lol), or maybe through to Wulkuraka again. I did hear about the flood damage.
John, long form BVRT would be great.
I forgot to say all that spider footage and that giant black spider made me jump and throw my phone. I am not fond of spiders at all and I was quietly watching the vid with earphones in, in the dark while my partner was snoring beside me. I woke him up I jumped that much 😂😂😂
👍
Geez mate, if I'd known the track had got that bad I wouldn't have mentioned it ... I reckon if I'd ridden up to that today I would have just said "nup" and turned around. To be fair, it was better when I rode it - steep but better.
Just something else - a bit like you I guess, I'll ride on the highway if I have to if there is a good wide road shoulder to ride on, but it's not a comfortable place to be. So, when you got to the end of Gamgee Road (or whatever it's called there), the last driveway before the highway is a way to get to the rail trail though the forest without riding on the highway. For ages I thought it was just someone's driveway, but I am told that is not so and it's TMR land.
Anyway, as a bit of recompense and a way to say sorry, I"ll put some petrol money into the "Kofi" account. Your ride on the mountain bike trail was a bit legendary though. Maybe it will be fixed one day.
- Dave
Thanks, Dave! It was all good fun... I love this stuff :) Re that Gamgee Rd driveway trail, just looking at it on the maps now, yes, there is a way to the rail trail via there however it looks like it is a bit of a long way to reconnect. Thanks for the route again. I've still got that Downfall Creek route you mentioned on my radar to check out soon too.
@@dembrey this was all your doing? Playdough
silly question please. does bike disc brakes get hot and fade like cars. you decended several ..only askin..
spell dembray please.ill go look.dont worry i love it here
They certainly can get very hot... I'm always double-checking my brake pads, making sure they're still good. No brakes... no riding. :)
Jeez your seat is placed low
The seat is a dropper post.... it goes up and down with the press of a button. Pretty standard on MTBs.
From Woodford it's easy to get to kilcoy via neurum rd.....good camping at kilcoy showground. From caboolture train station it's a nice arvos ride. Just be aware of traffic coming up behind you, slightly defensive riding tactics needed. Next day ride through to the bvrt via gregors creek road, joins itat about the 94 km mark above toogoolawah. When you hit the bris. Valley hwy.get the hell off the bike and walk about 400 m along the highway h3ading south, left, until you get to the wide truck park sort of thing,it is on the trail. Kilcoy to linville camping, or blackbutt if you're keen or on an ebike, easy day from kilcoy.
Option b from kilcoy...not if it's flooding.ride north on the murgon road as if going to jimna, but turn off at Monsildale road, gravel, continue over the tail end of the coonondale range,I push3d a couple of km. maybe, then drop down till you reach louisavale road, hang a left and followMonsildale creek stock routeright to the Brisbane river valley again. 64 km.of rather remote adventure in parts, kilcoy to linville.20 km is isolated along the stock route after Louisavale homestead. Gates, multiple fords of the creek, very sandy and un rid3able at times, Very beautiful. I r3ccommend plotting it all out on ridewithgps or similar app, lots of people hav3 ridd3n it, the h3atmap functi9n is great. The stock route is flat. Watch th3 weather before going in there, big catchment and major tr8butary of bris.river.
Also...ebikes have done it in dry weather I hear, but personally I wouldn't be game.14 creek crossings up to my knees when I did it on a touring bike with panniers and full camp gear
Wow, thanks for the detailed route info, that's some serious exploring!
