The outro riff is so sick especially when it goes with David's lyrics and how he sings "Don't let me live in an asylum, I live a lie" to the beat of that
In Remnants? You really don’t even need a whammy to play the solo and most of the solo is pretty straightforward, if you can just stick to an e minor scale and an e minor pentatonic scale you can figure most of it out by ear, the only complex part is to the end which I feel like he could’ve explained better and gone more depth into
@ProTuner06 I agree on the guitar/amp combo. I have a cheap little FirstAct Walmart electric guitar thats like 6 years old, but I got a Line 6 Spider IV 75 watt amp connected to it. I mean cheap guitar, but sounds absolutely amazing on that amp. I can only imagine even what a relatively cheaper Gibson SG (a step up in my eyes) would sound on that thing. But you're right. Your amp is your sound. guitars have different tones from each other depending, but for overall power, it's the amp you use.
/watch?v=O_5CmwexFY0 Go to 3:02 in that vid. He uses Randall amps, like Dimebag Darrel did. You can get a heavily distorted tone from several kinds of amps, but the disturbed tone is sure huge- just like Dimebag Darrel's was. The type of guitar is truly not THAT terribly critical as long as you have a very high output humbucker in the bridge position (running into a tube amp ideally, but you can get by on a budget with solid state, but only if you have to. Dan uses the Duncan El Diablo pup.
WOW....I WANT TO PLAY LIKE YOU....i just started playn acoustic and it doesent sond like yours . It's a bit old only thing i did is that i bought new strings. BUT I LOVE DISTURBED SONGS SOOOO MUCH THAT I CANT SLEEP WITHOUT LISTENING ONE OF SONGS .
Any Randall amp that is hybrid or all tube should do the trick. On EQs you should be able reproduce Dans or Syns sound. Ofc not like one on record cause for recording they use lot of different amps :P Thing is like every1 told u Dan is using really hot pickup that has really strong signal output (el Diablo). And Syns one got strong signal but with lot of compression and boosted mids.
I just use my boss me-50 for like everything I play, and once I have a new amp, I'd be using that. I recommend you to just use your own distortion sound to play songs. else you can always find dan's guitar rig somewhere, and just try to build it piece by piece, but you're gonna need alot of money for that.
@Disturb3dSevnfold Dan uses PRS guitars but, they are Expensive. I own a custom Schecter and I LOVE it to death. What the other guy said about the amp doesn't matter is WRONG! The amp is your sound. The old saying is, you could have a shitty guitar but a nice amp and produce quality sound but..if you had an expensive, great sounding guitar but a lousy amp, you could have a shitty sound. Just go to a local Guitar Center and try out the amps in your price range. Effects help as well.
Oh actually there is another song which called remnants&asylum and it is the same but at the begining there is the intro which Dan teaches with the acoustic and the elctric guitar
kenny kennyster I know I've downloaded all Disturbed albums on my phone and they are two songs but they always put them together on Concerts and there are also videos which show them together...It is not one song but still it sounds better
for whatever reason in the main riff, that fret board never shows im hitting 2 on the e string during the part or 1 on the e string. Makes it look like he's hitting an open e when he's not.
you will never get that tone. because they always blend different amps together and do alot stuff in the studio. but i think the peavey EVH III will get you close. or maybe a randall rm with the recto or treadplate preamp. as for guitars...i think anything (except for a strat, telecaster or les paul) around 600 bucks will do just fine... try a couple and whatever feels best. the real tone comes from your hands...then the amp...the guitar isnt that much of a sound shaping tool
I'm having trouble learning this song because I can't stop head banging.
I thank you Dan for this masterpiece of a melody you created.
The outro riff is so sick especially when it goes with David's lyrics and how he sings "Don't let me live in an asylum, I live a lie" to the beat of that
3:23 is the easiest part for me so far. Ive always liked that part its like a Donegan signature riff
I love playing the Remnants solo :) really fun to play
I'm a newbie at guitar, but I was hitting those riffs acoustically and I felt pretty amazing...
Dan completely skips a section around 3:44 where he uses the whammy bar.
I like more how he plaus with a floyd rose, but everyone have their style
In Remnants? You really don’t even need a whammy to play the solo and most of the solo is pretty straightforward, if you can just stick to an e minor scale and an e minor pentatonic scale you can figure most of it out by ear, the only complex part is to the end which I feel like he could’ve explained better and gone more depth into
I loveDisturbed!!!!!
Great Lessons
Dan is a master !!!!!!!!!

@777Knightrider I don't know the exact amps he used, but he uses Bogner, Randall, and Marshall amps!
@Simonsons2 go to ultimateguitar then type in asylum(ver5) and it has it in the beginning as well as the solo
am i the only one who think that he looks like stone cold steve austin with hair ^^
Holy shyatt
Damn broo! I can't unsee it now
@mihali301 Probably not, you need a guitar with quite a bit of sustain to do the remnants solo!
@askme123789 Yeah, often the books are 'soundalike' copies that aren't tabbed out by the actual musicians themselves!
He can make the guitar sing no doubt about it!!!!
@csca12 any of the versions. just look for the ones with the 5 star rating. You can also look at comments on the tab to see how accurate it is!
I kind of wish Remnants were its own separate song rather than an intro for Asylum. It's my favorite on the entire CD.
Tarron Clary it is....
@Simonsons2 I've looked but I can't seem to find any!
@TarWein Haha that's not me in the video, it's the guitarist for the band Disturbed!!!
Man do i need some special hard on my guitar 2 play the remnants solo?
I have a ibanez grx70dx , will this do for the solo?
@Disturb3dSevnfold Avenged Sevenfold for their album Nightmare they used a Marshall JVM410H Through a boss sd-1 pedal....
HE MAKES IT LOOK SO EASY!!! I’m practicing on my acoustic and I’m constantly getting really frustrated because I keep screwing up!!!😫😫🤣🤣
wen u goin on ur next tour to australia?
Love this song been fuckin it up all week
the fast little part at 3:50 anyone know where i can find a tab for that?
I got a sunburst Laguna for christmas a few years ago (probobly didn't spell laguna right.) Would my guitar be good for learning Remnants?
@beastlysk8r22 Haha yeah, I just ended up getting a tab for this :P
/watch?v=O_5CmwexFY0 Go to 3:02 in that vid. He uses Randall amps, like Dimebag Darrel did. You can get a heavily distorted tone from several kinds of amps, but the disturbed tone is sure huge- just like Dimebag Darrel's was.

ok. will my costom Ibanez GIO work for this?
What should I do then?
ITS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!
has anybody got the tabs of the acoustic part?
How after 11 years their is only 1K likes!🤯
@TarWein Oh haha okay, unfortunatly there aren't any video lessons for divide or perfect insanity
@ProTuner06 Dan dosen't use PRS he uses Schecter!
I met this man
Don't you think the tabs below guitar don't match Dan's playing a little bit.
+Андрей Бобренёв They don't
is there a second way to play that song without harmonics? i just can't play them :/
Any Randall amp that is hybrid or all tube should do the trick. On EQs you should be able reproduce Dans or Syns sound. Which tuning?
Anyone else notice that he played the intro differently between the example and "to speed", lol.
It's hard to slow down sometimes.
@Disturb3dSevnfold Dan uses PRS guitars but, they are Expensive. I own a custom Schecter and I LOVE it to death. What the other guy said about the amp doesn't matter is WRONG! The amp is your sound. My guitar has SHIT sustain so I can't do the harmonics, how do I fix this?
Anakin James Hunter strings maybe, pickups or amp
A little bit of delay will work well.
He Use Acoustic Electric Guitar ?
watch on 2x speed for the Dave Mustaine lesson
Fellow wanderer LMAO
I just did this. Thanks man.
1:04
so fast to learn easy
@HondaMang187
he is the disturbed guitarist -.- noone can play it better and make it sound more original
TOTAL OWNAGE ON REMNANTS AND ASYLUM
whats then tuning bro?
+Marco Mesolania It's said at the beginning of the video. Tune down 1/2 step.
your*
Artificial?
@butterfingers308 Randall only have 4 signature artists, and Dan Donegan is not one of them!!
@Soldasfreedom1984 ultimateguitar(dot com)
@codzombies69 I'll drink to that \m/
in the original song there isn't the part with the acoustic guitar either at live
Oh actually there is another song which called remnants&asylum and it is the same but at the begining there is the intro which Dan teaches with the acoustic and the elctric guitar
Disturbed-Remnants&Asylum is the name
kenny kennyster I know I've downloaded all Disturbed albums on my phone and they are two songs but they always put them together on Concerts and there are also videos which show them together...It is not one song but still it sounds better
Remanence is the intro to the album which feeds right into the first song Asylum. It's good they put it separate songs I like the way they did it
ow :)
sustainer pedals could help a bit, but to play this, you would probably want a guitar with a normal bridge and not a tremolo bridge.
for whatever reason in the main riff, that fret board never shows im hitting 2 on the e string during the part or 1 on the e string. Makes it look like he's hitting an open e when he's not.
a great guitarist, but i could hardly cope up with his guitar lessons !!!!!
That is such a bad angle of the fretting hand, holy shit
fuck yea, 0 dislikes :D
@Simonsons2 911tabs doth com
you should have added tabs to this video, hes playing to fast to even care about the guitar neck on the bottom.
you will never get that tone. because they always blend different amps together and do alot stuff in the studio.
but i think the peavey EVH III will get you close. or maybe a randall rm with the recto or treadplate preamp.
as for guitars...i think anything (except for a strat, telecaster or les paul) around 600 bucks will do just fine...
try a couple and whatever feels best. the real tone comes from your hands...then the amp...the guitar isnt that much of a sound shaping tool
oh come on guys give Taylor Sharmon a break....we can't help that he was dropped 1 too many times on his head when he was a baby...
i think the person who made the song knows how to play noob
i..have no faith in humanity -_-
I have only 21 fret... FAIL ;(
i wish there was a website that would let you watch videos for free online. WAIT! I KNOW, UA-cam *buffers for 2 damn hours
-_- ..... the fuck did i just read?
to fast !!!!!!!!!
This is not a lesson. He goes way to damn fast for me to learn anything!

FAIL
dan is an incredible guitarist.... but is aweful at giving lessons.
