When it comes to the fabulous world of cinema organ music, I can only dream of ever being in FG’s league! When it comes to improvisations like this, he and I were both brought up in that wonderful world of cathedral organ ‘wallpaper’ here in the UK where the organist improvises into, in-between and after hymns, and most frequently before a service as the choir & clergy process to their places. It’s a wonderful experience and getting the balance of intrigue, mystery and sense of occasion without being too flashy which might detract the focus from the liturgy. It was always something that I found the hardest when I was a student, but I found it much easier and inspiring to just ‘go with it’. Frasier’s ‘Prelude in D’ would make for a perfect pre-service improvisation 😊

Yes, the reverb is great, especially with 100% rear and a firm plenum. So you should buy the complete set from Grabowski to feel that 😎

Another great improvisation. I like what you do on this channel. If I were to nitpick, it would be there camera angle. I really wanted to see your hands during the solo portion of pieces. But that aside, truly wonderful.

Wie kommt es eigentlich, dass bei einigen Kirchenorgeln manche Register abgeschlossen sind, aber die anderen jedem Spieler zur Verfügung stehen ?
Du stellst so schöne fantastische historische Instrumente vor. Dein Equipment ist allerdings nicht sehr orgelmäßig?
An advice... maybe the camera should look ad your fingers? Or maybe a multicam should be great! 🙂
Perhaps a camera angle from the right? That way the hands and the screen would be visible.

Hello Fraser! Love the channel and your playing! I would like very much to know about this piece. I know it is an old German hymn. I have searched and searched but have been unable to decode the tune. I am looking in a hymnal under first lines but no luck. Index of tunes might be helpful, but I do not know the tune name. That being said, would you be able to help me out? I live in the US, and am sure we have that tune somewhere in a hymnal. Thanks, David!

Apropos Improvisation, "Cortège" von Vierne würde hierzu auch gut passen? Vielleicht könnte ein bisschen Fanfare von Lemmens auch nicht schaden.

A great show-off of this sample set. How would you define this organ, French romantic? The flutes, principals and mixtures are unmistakebly Italian (which is good!).
In English, we might describe it as eclectic in design and tonality - deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources (Dutch: eclectisch; Deutsch: eklektisch). But certainly crowned by Italian 'chic'!
@@grahamtwist Eclectic is the right word indeed, Graham. From what I've heard on YT a lot sounds very convincing on this organ. I think the Italian 'chic' helps with that ;)
