It’s funny because a lot of people assume that homeschooled kids have things way easier and they have a less rigorous work load.
I just did our end of the year evaluation with each of my daughters yesterday (1st & 3rd grade) and I was going over everything and we were sitting there feeling proud, accomplished, and amazed by the work load that each of them (and myself 🤪) completed.

Such a good video! My 4th grader kept peeking over my shoulder and saying, “Hey, that’s what we do!”☺️ 100% agree and encourage daily routines - kiddos thrive off routine, and routines are so helpful to Mama’s day, too!

My kids are 14 and 11 and I played the preamble for them and to my surprise they knew it by heart ! They told me they learned it in 3 rd grade and they remembered! I was shocked but in Tx, at least in our neighborhood public school, they did a good job teaching them that .

We are starting home school for our 4th grader after thanksgiving break. She’s been in public school currently and we feel in our hearts home schooling will be the best option for her going further. Thank you for sharing this

My twin girls are 9 1/2 and I'd say sort of straddling 3rd/4th grade depending on the subject. I like seeing your routines and morning basket time. Already brainstorming how I can make next year more seamless and focused. They both really struggle with getting distracted/staying on task but I would like them to do more independent work. I also have a going into 1st grader that I actually need to track days with next year so that adds another layer.
Love the video! Not sure if you’ve done a video but I’d love to hear a video on what made you decide to homeschool after having your kids in public school for a time and also how you learned how to start homeschooling. Also what challenges you faced during the transition.

It’s recommended for middle school and up with that said she enjoys watching even if she doesn’t understand completely what’s going on.

Yes! Free time until dinner and activities. Then shower, room clean up, reading and bed time.

do you have a video on how you choose read alouds? Do you pick them at the beginning of the year, or just go with the flow? There are so many options, I am a checklist kinda of lady lol Thank you for this update and day in the life, 4th grade is approaching us very quickly.
I relate! You know this! I’ve done both! Sometimes I have a book stack I want them to read through, and other times I present a few options and they choose. They read the whatever they want on their own time so they don’t really get upset when I choose for them. This is what we call and assigned reader and they are always reading other things in addition to.
@@GraceandGrit awesome! Thank you for clarifying. I will have to look and see what will go along with what we learn next year. I have their personal readers already, I just never know what to read aloud to them (14 yrs old and a 9 yr old). But I do like the aspect of having both levels. :)
What are flows?
I am thinking of switching over to Good and the Beautiful math for my younger three. TGATB wasn't around with my bigs. Do you feel it is complete and helps grow the child's math ability? We have always use a mastery program but I am seeing the need for spiral. Thanks in advance.
