  • We visit the Petroglyph Plaza in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park near Phoenix, Arizona, famous for its Sonoran Desert landscape.
    On this episode of Searching for History, Erin, Rolin and our White Shepherd, Thora visit the Petroglyph Plaza, within the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, just southwest of Phoenix, Arizona. Once the home of the Hohokam people, the White Tank Mountains contain ancient petroglyphs. One of these petroglyph sites is the Petroglyph Plaza. The Petroglyph Plaza is a short distance up the Waterfall Canyon Trail. Join us as we visit the Petroglyph Plaza.

    Good to see Thora back in action! It's a shame about the faded signs, it really limits what you can learn from the site.

      It is that Sonoran Desert sun that fades everything! It is too bad Arizona state parks doesnt take that into account and have the panels on a replacement schedule. Any day we can get Thora out with us is a good day!

    What kind of materials are you walking on ? Cement ? Plastic.? So when it rains where is the water to go? Just wash away the nearby plants. ?

      It is a concrete sidewalk. When it rains water runs onto the desert floor.
