pete sampras you're my number 1 player always!!! i remember you at the aussie open match against courier. i was on the court and i will never forget that match. that night you showed everyone you are emotional and gentle human being
Ruti, one of the great Sampras's nicknames was "Sweet Pete", because he was such a nice guy. I don't think the public knew him much, because he was quiet, and wasn't an attention seeker, but if you followed him, like I did, it wasn't hard to find out that he was a very genuine person, product of a loving and close knit family.
@@MrBjorn6 Pete was the clear best of his era by quite some distance, which is something neither Federer nor Nadal achieved - they were #3 and #2 to Novak. So in the biggest area, Pete did end up on top of Roger.
who else misses watching Pete jump in the air and slamming the ball with effortless and flawless precision? (the tennis equivalent to a Michael Jordan dunk)?
@Rare Tennis when your tennis is so nearly perfect, I suppose it may look boring to someone who doesn't appreciate the skill and talent involved, of a player who didn't make a spectacle of himself on court to be "entertaining", just played beautifully.
The facts are there and they are indisputable. All the same, the fact remains that different eras are incomparable and such things as GOAT are nonsense. If somebody wants to consider Fabrice Santoro as their *personal* favourite of all time, it is his or her right - and no amount of statistics will change that. Got the point, Shirley?
Graham Bensinger behaves so gay in this interview! What a slimy grin all the time! He thinks that in this way he could get some explicit information about Pete Sampras. But I tell you brother: no way!
people will remember novak djokovic for not getting all out of his talent. he is an arrogant bastard who acts like he has 10 slams. i questions his resolve and his dedication. i dont know of any 20 year old who retires from matches more than him. he also admitted he was worn out and lost focus, are u joking, you are 20 years old??? he doesnt have the will to win like nadal, agassi, sampras and federer. i hope i am wrong, but i dont think so.
novak djokovic is nothing the history won't remember him ..... not like agassi sampras rafa federer mcenroe lendl etc djokovic has only 1 gs and 1 ms that is nothing!!! guga has a lot more and nobody says a word about him
Roger has had 291+ weeks at world number 1 whereas Pete had 286 Roger has 17 Majors whereas Pete has 14 Roger won the Career Grand Slam whereas Pete never even made the final of the French Roger beat Sampras at Wimbledon Pete himself has said Federer is the GOAT. I think Sampras is brilliant but there comes a time when you hae to accept the facts.
All valid points. But having seen them both play many times I think Pete at his best would beat Roger at his best. Its meaningless I know but thats what I think.
Till the advent of Nadal in 2005, Fed had no competition at all. When Rafa and Djoko appeared, Fed's GS title haul practically came to a halt, for some yrs. Sampras faced off against other GS title holders, like Agassi, Becker, Chang, Courier, Edberg, Lendl,Rafter, Ivanisevic, Kuerten. Fed, pre Rafa and Djkoer? Not in the same league. That's why he's known as the weak era champion. How many GS titles did he win, after Nadal and Djoko got to their peak?
Sampras had 6 consecutive year end no.1 ranking, which I believe is still the record. He also ended his career much earlier than Federer, so we don't know how much more he could have achieved.

My all time favorite player.Simple quiet no attitude! He just played great tennis!
i still love pete sampras..he is the best tennis player ever!!!
Federer just passed Pete, but in all honesty I still consider Pete better.
How about now?
Michael Walker I consider both Sampras and Federer to be the GOAT with Nadal being the GOATOC.

Rare Tennis u seem fun though.... writing the same comment over and over 😂

Bensinger has a silly smirk on his face all the time. Is he always like that?
Great interview 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Is anyone watching this video in 2019? 💖💖

Pete is the goat.
great interview
sampras is the greatest player of all time by a country mile. Noone can come close to him. Not Federer, Not nadal, Not agassi. May be djokovic.
Dirk James you were saying.
You were spot on about djokovic being great tho. Who would have known in 2009v
Hahaha Djokovic is now fulfilling his talent and is thuming the likes of Nadal and Federer.
I don't know how he does to be cool all the time
yes but djokovic will win more slams maybe even this year!
You know tennis!,,,,
what a prediction
Wow. Don’t be so hard on yerself, Petey. At least you didn’t refer to your junior self as ‘godlike.’ 😖
Bensinger’s wearing his old man’s SUIT. 😄
Don't make friends and be a loner - GREAT STRATEGY.

Gay? Sounds a bit old school there.

Wow, that comment didn't age well at all.
Djokovic has done pretty well since that comment.
Hahahaha, nice prediction

caposquadra you were saying!!!
caposquadra this..... didnt age well 😂
I wonder if you are still around, caposquadra? Novak has a few slams now. ✌
14 years later from your comment... Look at the man you belittled.
how can pete be the best wat abt roger and rafa
sagrocket They are both still going, 10 hears on.
Magnificent player. Not the most engaging speaker.
nadal is better
Roger has had 291+ weeks at world number 1 whereas Pete had 286
Roger has 17 Majors whereas Pete has 14
Roger won the Career Grand Slam whereas Pete never even made the final of the French
Roger beat Sampras at Wimbledon

Roger was beaten by all the three Murray Novak Djokovic and Nadal and they also have a good head to head record against Federer

Facts? I guess you meant statistics.
