I'm sorry to hear that you have little knowledge of that the Pipe Organ is really capable of. What makes you think the organ is ONLY for dramatic effects, when the fact of the matter is that the Pipe Organ is a very versatile instrument because of the many pipes it has and the many stops that control those pipes with many different colors of sound (hence why it was titled the "King/Queen of Instruments")? 🤔

Which game? The original NES game: CV II: Simon's Quest didn't seem to use the harpsichord due to sound production limitations.
@@dan78789 It all sounds like "8-bit" sounds to me. I can't really tell which "8-bit" tones are supposed to represent which instrument. 🤔
@@dan78789 I'm aware of that, though I don't have enough experience with 8-bit tone instruments to determine which is what.
I guess I could say a harpsichord was used in the original track, though please keep in mind that I created an organ solo arrangement of this very song which we are commenting on at this very moment.

You're welcome. The organ really is the perfect instrument for the entire series.
I must clarify something with you. I am a music arranger. I arrange already-existing music for different instruments. In this case, I specialize in creating organ arrangements.
In terms of actually playing the organ, my skills are more of an advanced amateur, so I still have much more practicing to do.
However, I have collaborated with other fellow organists on UA-cam to perform my arrangements. And they certainly want to perform more of them soon, due to the fact that my arrangements library is expanding at an unprecedented pace. Over 150 arrangements have been made so far and much more are in the works. I am not stopping anytime soon, knowing how much I love making them to begin with.

Sideways did a great video on why Pipe organs sound scary, and it perfectly explains why Castlevania music sounds so awesome on pipe organs.
Basically the thesis is "they work so well for horror because of their association with churches, and a subversion of that association with Churches reads as akin to contorting divine power to evil ends", which is perfect for horror.
I have watched his video essay on that before. While he made some great points, where I strongly disagree with him is the association of churches. Maybe I might need to watch the video again, though the fact of the matter is that the Pipe organ was never a Christian invention to begin with. It only received the perceptions of divine power from the instrument being used in such places. It was, and has always been, a secular instrument with secular origins that just so happens to be used in religious buildings. There are many secular places where you can find a pipe organ, such as city/town halls, concert halls, and private homes, for a few examples.

@@JonnyMusicOrganist i get what you're saying, but I think you should rewatch because it seems like the two of you don't disagree.
He actually explicitly points out that they're much older then Christian churches and talks about the economic reasons that they were rare outside of churches.
His discussion of the connotation of hijacking divine power isn't based on the association being inherent. It's about that it's a product of centuries of being used in churches and becoming so ubiquitous that people couldn't think of them elsewhere.
The development of cultural connotations that are used to signal things are unfortunately, a product of what most people see rather than the truth, and you're right the pipe organ is a secular instrument ultimately, but that doesn't change the cultural power of an association built on the assumption that it's religious because that's the only expirience people had with a pipe organ for centuries, and such things are self reinforcing.

Uhhhh, never. :( My computer cannot handle such a rendering task.
However, do you happen to already know how to loop videos? It's easier to do on desktop, though it would require some extra steps to get looping to work on mobile.
