Jonny Weston & Gerard Butler - Chasing Mavericks Interview with Tribute

Gerard Butler is never one to shy away from a physically demanding role, but he almost lost his life shooting his latest drama, "Chasing Mavericks." Based on a real-life story, "Chasing Mavericks" focuses on surfing legend Jay Moriarity. When he discovers that the mythic Mavericks surf break, one of the biggest waves on Earth, exists just miles from his Santa Cruz home, he enlists the help of local legend Frosty Hesson (Butler) to train him to survive it. Newcomer Jonny Weston tackles the equally demanding role of Jay Moriarity.
Tribute.ca spoke with Jonny and Gerard in Los Angeles about near-death experiences, facing one's fears and having a trusted mentor.

The continued decline in the standard of movies(not all) is hidden from no one but movies such as Chasing Mavericks is a fine ex. that not only builts hope but is actually able to connect with its audiences.Throughly panned out by 'critics' it goes rather unnoticed.But i hope that i get to watch movies like this once in a while so there's always room for improvment untill people really start to appreciate whats actually deserving.

Who died shy of his 23 birthday, likely due to his youth and this passion that he had for the ocean untempered by maturity. Freediving with no one accompanying you is fool hearty. What a senseless, tragic end. When you freedive at such depths you’re tempting fate.

I really hated this movie because I live and grew up in santa cruz and a lot of this stuff is not true. My family knew jay and I always see frosty surfing. In the movie its makes kim seem like a nice person but she actually cheated on him many times. In the movie the houses are on the wrong side of the neighborhood and blond was not a real person.

they are not surfers... i know surfers that surf Mavericks... when the actor wiped out i understand why he freaked out ( supposedly -from big wave surfers' point of view- the waves were little LOL !)
