Oh wow...this was absolutely beautiful, powerful and evocative. Your pacing, your use of layering audio and most notably your pauses were just extraordinary! I loved the whole thing but my favorite moment has to be 5:18 that's just....*chef's kiss* perfect. You have so much talent. I wish I had half your patience for video editing.
I can’t tell you how happy you saying that makes me. 😭 I’m so glad you enjoyed it so much! Also you would be surprised at how long it took me to get the pauses to feel just right, I even had to very Subtly slow and stretch the clip of Thel at 3:54 half a dozened times before hitting the almost intangible *chef’s kiss* perfect spot that felt right to me. As far as I’m concerned If you have Practice, passion and a drive to improve you can build talent from the ground up, and of my particular passion editing rarely feels like work, In fact I almost get an itch to edit if I have to neglect it because of college or other responsibilities.
Though I’m working on non halo stuff right now (when I find the time between college work) but I want to make a John 117/Halo saga edit when Infinite eventually drops. (Whenever that will be) It will also function as a tribute for Catherine Halsey, Cortana, Thel and humanity’s struggle across the entire saga. I’m planning to include audio from most of the book (audiobooks particularly the audio book for “Human weakness” read by Jen tailer) and visuals from many of the comics (particularly the later sections of the fall of reach comic adaptation). I haven’t started proper work on it because I want to see what Infinite will bring before I fully commit to a certain direction but in my early “storyboards” (I don’t know what else to call them) have shown me that it’s going to be 33 minutes long at least. Honestly I’m probably gonna get impatient and just start work on it anyway and hope that Infinite doesn’t mess with my plan somehow.

@@rohanthomas4134 Ha no trust me. I know how long it takes, because...(now my turn to advertise...) I did a narration of Human Weakness purely as a self challenge to hone my impression of Cortana and voice actor skills. I was having such a great time an amazing Master Chief voice actor did his lines at the end of part 6. I'm right now getting a gravemind VA and I'll be doing a 1hr audio play of Human weakness with my Cortana, his gravemind and the Chief. I was attempting to put together a sort of tribute trailer with visuals and some of our audio dialogue.... and It's maddening! Which is why I'm so blown away by your talent! @@rohanthomas4134 a lot of times I find that halo tributes have imbalances. Too much dialogue, music overshadowing what’s going on, clips that do t fit together, transitions off, etc etc. but fr I’ve seen two of your videos so far (this one and the 20 min one for John) and you hit every note perfectly. Nothings out of place, nothing over stayed it’s welcome, and even the use of the voice lines to drive the videos narrative rather then being the other way around makes you the absolute best on UA-cam hands down.
And can I also say that you have FANTASTIC insight on the characters personalities and how everyone fits in with the story of the halo universe. I wish they put you in charge of the Halo tv show and I mean that seriously. Please please please keep this up
@@jacobbakos3140 Thank you so much for your kind words, comments like yours make my day and propel me to "keep it up". though I have found myself very busy with college work since I uploaded that John tribute I am currently in the very early stages of a Cortana tribute that will probably be just a long if not longer than the John one. I don't know if I could have done a better job on the Halo Show, but I'm flattered that you think so. Being the Massive fan that I am I probably would have opted for an adaption that was much closer to the narrative of the canon Games and novels at least. As an aspiring writer, it would be a dream come true to contribute to the Halo universe someday.

Can you do a Forerunner type tribute with music that fits a once glorious cilivization falling towards the path of total annihilation to only a shadow of their former selves with great shame. With ones like the Didact believing he was last of his race.

I have considered making a forerunner tribute though I feel that I would have to listen the forerunner book trilogy again to find appropriate narration. Maybe one day. The tale of the Forerunners is a sad one. Once a mighty powerful empire full of wisdom and majesty that saw themselves as holy guardians to the peace, stability, and prosperity of all races and nations across the galaxy, only to have their pride swallow them. They became arrogant, shortsighted, and harsh towards those they brought their imperial peace upon. And when the Flood came for them and condemned them, they like angels from Heaven fell to the ground. In their desperation they commited dark deeds with both Faber and the Didact in their panic and rage to save their people committing terrible crimes against Ancient Humanity only for it to be for nothing. With their last remnants and their Ais making their last stand at the face of the monstrous horde.

I like to suggest you check out the Halo lore channel known as Installation00 he's a UA-camr who makes content about the lore of the Halo Universe. He made a theory about the Primordial's horrifying secret 4 months ago that's so terriflying it's cosmic horror levels of horrifying that would make the Brethren Moons and the Reapers from their respected franchises look insignificant in comparison. A constant cycle of cosmic consumption and reseeding of life to consume all knowledge of all civilizations then wipe the slate clean and start the process again.
A fine idea that could give rise to a seperate tribute video some day about the Flood and their cosmic horror. Dark secrets that had remained dormant since the dawn of time itself as Cortana said at the end of Halo Legends Origins Part 2.
Some secrets should remain hidden.

@@thorshammer7883 Way ahead of you mate. I’v probably seen a about 90% of installation 00’s content and I love that theory. I’ve thought of doing tributes and all sorts of things within halo but I have limited time due to school, because of that I’m never quite sure what the next project is going to be until I start it. The only thing I know for sure then I’m going to do one day Is that once halo infinite comes out I’m going to make a halo saga tribute primarily focusing on John and Cortana. But obviously I’ve got to wait until we find out where Cortana and John story goes in infinite.

The Arbiter, Chief and MOST DEFINITELY CORTANA were character assassinated, Chief talks way too much and becomes his own character away from the player, Arbiter was just a cameo and Cortana, go play Halo 5 and learn how 343i hate Bungies original main character, Cortana went from cheerful,sassy, charming digital gal who used every ounce of knowledge to help the Chief and the UNSC delegated to a silly Hollywood villain and then Infinite kills her and expects me to wipe away this shame and be sad shes gone, she didnt earn redemption, she destroyed a planet unmercifully and im expected to turn a blind eye, get real, she needs a return to fix what 343i old management did to her and become another asset to UNSC again, dont pair her with Chief until the Weapon disappears and Cortana comes to help save her to show how much she cares for these 2 instead of ahh we can only have one because we cant narratively do it, you can if Cortana sees fit to imprison herself after redeeming herself from ths nightmare old managment set us on, she can be so much more but 343i are blinded by Chiefs majesty that games have to be around him
I would contest that Fel was not in fact character assassinated. I would go so far to say that the characterisation he gets in his limited screen time in Halo five actually does him quite good service. The progression from revolutionary leader to What is effectively a warrior king of his people is a good fit for his personality and motivations. The thematic aspect of redeeming the concept of an arbiter and restoring the title to pre-covenant incarnation is also very fitting. It’s a shame he hasn’t had very much to do, and it is pretty baffling that the actual reunion between John and Fel has only been covered in passing by a novel and in a live script reading at the 2023 HaloWC.
I see where you’re coming from when it comes to John, but I am personally unbothered by the change. Frankly, I wasn’t super fond of the approach of making the chief into an empty vessel for the player. I’ve never thought that that’s sort of approach was necessary. What more, from the very beginning of the franchise there was a disconnect between John’s level of characterisation in the books and the bare bones characterisation he got in the Bunji games. Seeing him act like a fully fledged character in halo four was very gratifying to me, and I sincerely hope they never go back. You are correct though, it is character assassination, but not in the sense that John’s characterisation has been broken, but instead the intent behind it.
Cortana though . . . Yeah, I’m not going to try and defend Halo five, her heel turn is dog water and I think 343 knows it. They heavily insinuated that the grave mind had Been indirectly responsible for her sudden change due to his long-term corruption of her being. Recently, they’ve been very explicit about it. There is even a small hint of this idea in Halo infinite with chief saying something to the effect of “I’m not sure anymore” when the notion of Cortana being responsible for her own actions comes up. The point being that everyone knows that it was a mistake by now and have come with explanations after the fact to try and fix it. It’s particularly insulting considering how well her character was handled and Halo Four.
I personally rate halo infinite’s story quite well, and feel that the way that Cortana was addressed was fine for what it is. A more conclusive confrontation or reconciliation between John and his former partner would’ve been preferred, but given what we now know about the development of Infinite and the mass amount of cut content, and personally willing to forgive them. They opted for the “redemption through death” approach, probably because Cortana‘s actions were already sufficiently evil that A proper redemption would’ve been a massive undertaking story wise, and probably wouldn’t be something you could handle in the course of one game. They wanted to reset back to something familiar while not invalidating prior two games. I would personally argue that what they gave us was enough, not as good as it could’ve been, not by a long shot, but enough.
Also, I don’t want them to bring back Cortana again. She’s dead, let her stay dead. Maybe they can have echoes with her still existing in certain places, and I would be in favour of the story continuing to discuss her actions and legacy, but she NEEDS to stay dead this time. And nameless God I sincerely hope they do not name the wepon Cortana.
